There are people who have a minhag not to make brachos on dessert altogether. I heard that some people have a mesora that the Chofetz Chaim was chozer on his psak to say a bracha.
Others do say brachos on some desserts, depends what type of food it is. Ice cream is a shayla whether it needs a bracha so some people will make a shehakol on sugar or candy before eating ice cream.
Some will eat bread together with the dessert to remove any need for a bracha.
It is not so pashut that you are not supposed to repeat words in davening. Most yeshivish people take it as a given that one should not repeat words but there are places where it might be allowed. Stretching out words and chanting “ayayay” might be just as bad as repeating in some cases.

Rechnitz accused us of being machmirim yet people have a hava amina of taking non-kosher capsules when kosher ones are available? If there are Kosher brands available, why not just get those and avoid the shayla?

The jackpot for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing $165 million. Is it lack of hishtadlus not to enter that? Why should entering an $800m drawing be considered more proper hishtadlus than $165m?
My general hanhaga is that when a jackpot gets this high, I buy a ticket in the other lottery.

I set my taskbar properties to “combine when full” which shows the running programs with their names, not just icons, and even has separate ones for each open file (until the taskbar is full at least). Once you have that, I find the Windows 7 taskbar to be perfect. I love the jump lists of pinned and recent files. Unfortunately, Windows 10 has mutilated this functionality a bit. I have to try out Classic Shell to see if it brings it back to the Windows 7 version.
According to a post above, the melech hamashiach will build the beis hamikdash. The question is, who is mashiach? How will he know he is mashiach and how will we know he is mashiach? Perhaps building the beis hamikdash is what makes him mashiach.
I think what the OP is asking is:
If it were possible to build the beis hamikdash today, and I take the initiative to go do it, would that make me mashiach? Or do I have to wait for some sort of nevuah or shofar blast before I am allowed to build it?

A meshulach from an organization that considers itself Jewish came into my office the other day and was badgering us for tzedaka while we were trying to work. Someone tried giving him a dollar and he refused it, showing us a check from another “working balabos” and saying he won’t take less than $18. I told him that someone had come collecting for the same institution just a few weeks ago and he denied it. Then I told him that I already get emails from his institution and that I would prefer to give through Rabbi Ploni’s Chinese Auction, so he tried to tell me he was collecting for something different than Rabbi Ploni. This guy had a lot of chutzpah.

I once saw a guy turn into a parking lot from the exit lane and snatch the handicap spot while someone was about to turn into it. The guy jumped out of the car and ran into the store without putting up a placard – said he was in a rush… So the handicap guy parked behind him blocking in (this last part didn’t really happen but probably would have if popa were around)
