I find politics to be painfully boring so if everyone could limit their posts on this thread to just three or four words I would greatly appreciate it!
I understand what you are saying but I believe that the conditions affect the willingness of citizens to volunteer. It is much easier to gather people living safely under a possible threat, than to gather the same amount of people as volunteers under the volatile conditions that exist on an always basis in Israel.
Either you are joking, unable to admit you’re wrong, or you don’t understand what it is like to live with terrorists among you. You cannot seriously compare living under the frequent threat of stabbings, rammings, bombings, suicide bombers, snipers and boulder throwers to living under the back-burner maybe of a nuclear war. Please.

Joseph was citing a Sefer that quoted a Psak from R’ Belsky that seems to be the exact opposite of the one aIY says he got from R’ Belsky. That’s quite a fair point – no need for insults.
That’s very presumptuous of you. You are willing to make a statement that Joseph is quoting a sefer with a Psak that is opposite of a psak that was not even revealed to you. AiY was clear that he was not interested in sharing the words of the Rav, and yet you are going to defend Joseph for merely pointing out that it contradicts the written psak.
That is an inappropriate leap, and your desire to defend Joseph should not blind you to accuracy at someone else’s expense.
Joseph, you know he’s right. What is your point in harrassing him for his personal psak that was not meant for the public?

It doesn’t matter if real life requires it or not, it is about whether or not you can do something that you should be able to do. When a person is having trouble coping, it is important to develop ways to isolate different skills in order to find out where the weak link is. If it bothers you that some people want relief from their struggles, then don’t advocate for it. But your complaints against it sound like you may be a bit uninformed about the diagnostic process.
But sometimes we take suggestions.

We have a guest in our home who is a bit off. When we mentioned a huge gadol Hador he said, “I know him, we used to steal hubcaps together in high school”. Avi, I knew exactly what you meant and that’s why I still say you should be ashamed of yourself. In your need to degrade the concept of being on govt programs, you are willing to compare it to living worry free with HKBH. The protection we received in the desert was complete and divine. Why would anyone ever want to give that up freely? The govt programs provide limited support for limited provisions in limited housing under very specific conditions, hardly complete, hardly divine and not at all loving. Do you really think it’s okay to compare what Hashem did for BY to that lifestyle?
29, apparently my use of hyperbole to criticize an attitude prevalent in the frum community was justified by CY’s post . Apparently Hashem also disapproved as He wanted people to work. Thus, He gave various laws regarding agriculture and business.
I’m sorry but I am not understanding what you are trying to say here.
Do you think that choosing to “leach off the government” as many put it, can in any way be equated with choosing to remain in the comfort of Hashem’s care? If that is not what you meant, then you should not have said it.

your answer has nothing to do with this conversation. The comparison was made that those who wanted to continue in Hashem’s embrace and did not want to enter E”Y and work, were like those who are on government programs in order to stay in learning. That comparison is disgusting. the fact that we are no longer in Hashem’s embrace in that way is irrelevant. The problem was the analogy.
catch yourself, living in Hashem’s embrace is akin to living in your mother’s home and being cared for regarding room and board. If you cannot tell the difference between loving care, and humiliatingly filing for, accepting and living on food stamps than I fear your view of Hashem’s love for us may be somewhat skewed.

I think you are very wrong. If a person is going to repeatedly misrepresent himself in a negative way, I think it is very much the obligation of those who can attest to his virtues to speak up to prevent others from believing his falsehoods.
You misunderstood. I didn’t say YOU implied such a thing, I was stating that the reason for the disparity in our responses was simply because you are a holier person who is kinder and more thoughtful than I am. It might have been being silly, but I wasn’t mocking.
