So for all of you who say that there is no Jewish source for such a minhag, I went looking to find where it comes from.
Actually the first place it talks about throwing things at a Choson & kallah at their wedding is a Gemara in Brachos Daf Nun amud Beis. See also the bottom Tosfos where he talks about it being the Minhag in his time.
To see more about this, take a look in the sefer Minhag Yisroel Torah on Nisuim where he quotes other Rishonim who talk about throwing wheat or other foods at a Choson Kallah by their wedding as a Siman BerachaYW Moderator-105ParticipantI happen to be a wedding photographer. I have shot over 3000 weddings. As I said earlier, I dont know where the minhag comes from, but most Hungarian based Chasidim like Satmar do throw something at the Badekin. It’s not confetti. I think it’s tea leaves. So dont just say that theres no such minhag.
YW Moderator-105ParticipantThere is a Minhag by some Chasidim to throw what I believe is tea leaves at the Choson by the Badekin. I’ve seen thos mostly by Satmar & other Hugarian Chasidim. I dont know the origins of it.
As to confetti, there is no origin to that. It probably started when they forgot to bring the tea leaves so they took the confetti away from the kids & threw that insteadOctober 31, 2016 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm in reply to: There Is No Eruv In Flatbush / Marine Park! #1188291YW Moderator-105ParticipantI see the borders of the eruv that u posted. What does that mean for the rest of Marine Park? Kings Highway till Ave R, From Nostrand till Flatbush?
Which eruv is that included in?

YW Moderator-105ParticipantKrias Kesubah used to be given to the Shammos of the shul. That changed after a famous story where there was a Chasuna with many Gedolim in attendance including R’Moshe Feinstein Z”l. He realized that there wouldnt be enough Kibudim to give to everyone & so he told the Baal Simcha to give him the Krias Kesubah. When people saw him have Krias Kesubah they just assumed that it was a big Kibbud, & so they started copying it.

The Rav, Rabbi Yosef Eisen & Rosh Kollel Rav Shmuel Smith are the most accepting & loving people I know. The shul is open to people from all backgrounds. From Chasidish to Black hat Yeshivish, to modern orthodox. Every person who walks in the door is greeted with a smile & offered a seeat. There is absolutely no talking during davening.

YW Moderator-105Participantno
YW Moderator-105ParticipantHow many ppl is this for
YW Moderator-105ParticipantThere’s a segula for the choson to give his cuff links to 2 different people. It’s a segula to get them back
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI actually asked a similar question to R’ Shmuel Berenbaum & R’ Dovid Feinstein. My question was, can I do work for a yeshiva & not charge them & count that as Maaser, & can I do work for somebody who I know has no money, & do extra work & not charge them.
R’ Shmuel Berenbaum said absolutely it could be counted as Maaser. He said that you could be Mekadesh a Isha with that value, so why should it not be counted as Maaser.
R’ Dovid Feinstein said that he feels that Maaser is something that has to actually come out of my pocket. He therefore felt that I could not count the time as Maaser unless I charged them & then returned the money
YW Moderator-105Participantnope. Been around since the beginning. But as it says under my name, I’m “The Quiet One”
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI had the same problem this morning, using Firefox. I emptied the cache, & all is back to normal
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI would suggest taking them off yourself every night when you park your car. It might take you a little extra time every day, but it will save you from having to buy new tires
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI have the CRC app on my Palm Pre. I got that update 2 weeks ago
YW Moderator-105Participantwell what does that say about my IQ
YW Moderator-105ParticipantYW Moderator-105ParticipantI also think that people should learn some halochos before announcing that something is assur. Snow is most definitely not muktza.
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI remember R’ Shlomo Zalman Braun the Shiurim Mezuyanim Behalocho having his son go out Shabbos morning to shovel the snow inside the gates in from of his shul.
YW Moderator-105ParticipantI remember as a kid seeing the famous mohel R’ Zimmerman wrapping up a bagel to take home to his wife. I asked him about it , & he said he takes home something from every bris he goes to
