Jothar- If your Rav says its necessary then you follow what he says. Only Hashem takes into account how punishment will affect others, we (Bais Din) do not.

In Shemos when Moshe killed the Mitzri that was hitting a Yid, the pasuk says ???????? ???? ????? ???????? ???? ???? ????? which we darshan to mean he saw that no good would come out of him or his descendants. The question is raised that why did Moshe do that, if the Mitzri deserved to die we dont look at anything else? An answer given is that since he used the ?? ?????? to kill it was like ???? ???? ???? which does make other considerations.

A latte is an espresso with steamed milk instead of water.

A cappuccino is coffee with milk that has been turned into a froth.

An Americana is what we consider a regular coffee with milk.

A frappe is a drink served with ice

Goq- Please dont take all of our suggestions at once, you’ll get burnt out. Try to excercise and eat healthier, taking it one day at a time. See what works for you. I dont think I would be able to stay away from Coke Zero, but its preferable to having regular soda and all those empty calories. Drink LOTS of water, its great for your system and helps remove toxins.

What does the Artscroll Shas and GPS have in common??

They both get you to where you want to go, but once there and you look back, you have no idea how you got there.

Its a great reference tool, but try to first learn the Gemara on your own and sweat a bit before succumbing and using Artscroll.

????? ????? ????? doesnt mean to sit back in your recliner and just read through the Gemara like you would a newspaper. You need to stop and think, analyze what you are learning. I find that when I use Artscroll (I have the whole set) I am just reading the words and dont stop to think if I understand it. I mean its gotta make sense because after all, its a mefurishe Artscroll!

Zeeskite- Thats a gemara in Brochos on Daf Hey. It says you should have your yetzer tov fight your yetzer hora. if that doesnt work then learn torah. If that doesnt work say krias shema. If that doesnt work remember that one day you will pass on from this world. It appears to be as a last resort.

On the other hand, the Mishna in Avos (3:1) says to remember in front of whom you will have to give a din v’cheshbon.

Whenever I spoke to the R”Y zt”l, I suddenly felt this ahava towards the R”Y. For the first time, I truly understood the pasuk in Mishlei ????????? ????????? ????????? ???? ???-??????? ???????

His love for his talmidim was palpable and as the pasuk says, you cant do anything but love him back. This is how he was able to remember his talmidim, because he loved them all.

Most of us have heard shmuzzim about ??????????? ???????? ???????? But when the R”Y said it, it had a new meaning. Hearing those words from someone who lived it, hearing about Mesirus Nefesh from someone who lived it 24/7 penetrates deeper.

The R”Y grew up in America, and still became the R”Y. We all need to keep his legacy going by emulating him, and with increased Ahavas Yisroel may we be zoche to Bias Goel Tzedek Bimheira Biyomeinu.

Thank you Baal Habooze. His love for his talmidim and his mesirus nefesh are legendary. I feel privileged to say I learned in the Mir under the Rosh HaYeshiva, zecher tzadik v’kadosh l’bracha. After years of saying “the Rosh HaYeshiva Shlita” its painful to verbalize the words “the Rosh HaYeshiva zatzal”.

Time for a new therapist. If after therapy you come out with the impression “of course, everything is my fault” then the therapsit is not doing his/her job. Aside from the fact that there are several different therapy approaches, (CBT, Analytical, Freudian, Systems etc..) the therapist’s job is to have you and your spouse discuss things and work on repairing the relationship, not focus on where to place blame.

You should never give up unless advised to by a therapist(which should never happen) or a competent Rav experienced in these matters.

First of all “the way it should be” is a nes. Everything is orchestrated by HKB”H and to say that its nothing because thats the way it should be is wrong.

Secondly, as you said, the majority of the past ten years have been terrible rain seasons. So yes, this is something to note and to thank Hashem for.

We generally say that Mitvos d’Oraissa need kavana to be yotze and mitvos d’Rabanan do not. HOWEVER, there are exceptions, such as when your actions show you had kavana, or you had kavana when you started the mitzva. You would almost need to discuss this on a mitva by mitzva basis.

Arig – I commend you for doing what -you feel- was best for your daughter even at such a great cost.

That said, we in the CR dont know if that was the best decision because we dont know your daughter. You had little knowledge of the dynamics of having a daughter in E”Y which is why you turned to the CR critics. My opinion -and hopefully those of most of us- is based on personal experiences of living in E”Y for a number of years and having siblings, relatives and friends that were in various seminaries there. For the vast majority of girls, a decision to bring them home early would be the wrong one. BUT there is a minority and your daughter may fall in that group.

So I would like to commend you again for your concern and action to do what you feel is best for your child.

gaw- We shouldnt turn away someone that wants to know more about yiddishkeit regardless of whom they are married to. We teach them more about torah and yiddishkeit and tell them that we dont allow marrying a non jew. We do not say “first let me see divorce papers and then we can talk”.(The same for the guy in your shul who speaks Loshon Horah all day long that we dont throw him out of shul until he swears to never say l”h again)

With a Ger its a different story. Either he accepts ALL 613 or no geirus.

I heard in the name of the Gr”a (Vilna Gaon) that after hearing of a mekubal that knew private things of peole that came to him, he asked that the mekubal be brought to him. He came and told the Gr”a personal information about him (the Gr”a) After spekaing with him for a while, he told his talmidim to chase him out of town. Reason being that there are two ways this “mekubal” could know these things, through Koach haKedusah and koach hatumah. After speaking with him (in learning) the Gr”a said his abilities do not come from Koach HaKedusha. Therefore he needs to be chased out of town.

I second what dveykus613 said. Read R’ Yaakov Hillel’s book Faith and Folly, or ???? ???? in Hebrew. He is a mekubal that is mekubal by all of the Litvishe/Ashknenazic Poskim. In his book he says to be careful of all these so called mekubalim.

He brings a story of someone that was engaged and went to a mekubal for ????. The mekubal told him his name doesnt match with the kallah’s- whatever that means- and he should immediately break the shidduch. Choson goes crying to the Steipler asking what to do. The Steipler who was known to never get angry became visibly angry/upsent and said to ignore this advice and gave his brocho to the chosson.

Are you saying you disagree with this approach? What if I told you that leading Poskim (R’ Elyashiv Shlita for one) say when one spouse is not frum and is interested in yiddeshkeit and is married to a goy we are more lenient with having the conversion? Baal Habooze- If everything is cold there is nothing to be concerned with. All are fine. If the onions were raw and by mashing you are actually cutting through the onions then the onions would be milchig. I remember seeing somewhere (Chochmos Adom?) that if you cut an onion with a milchig knife on a fleishig plate the plate would be get bliyos of milk as well.

yitayningwut- I dont remember off hand where 60 in the contents of the pot times the pot itself is mentioned, but I’m pretty sure its on the page (Taz, Shach, etc) and more than once.

Jothar- Oops! I forgot about hamivatel bishvilo. Thank you.

Regarding Pizza- I have heard this shaila raised in E”Y and it was permitted. You are not doing anything by throwing the pizza in the garbage. Its not likely that its still yad soledes, its not derech bishul etc… The shaila would be when the garbage is incinerated that you have real bishul; but the Poskim were matir anyway

yitayningwut- I am refering to the general rule with all keilim. We never say the kli is shishim times the contents. (The reverse may be possible with a wide pot) However, with a kli ???? ?????? ???? you still may be allowed to use it.

Ovens- I cant recall ever hearing of anything of this sort. Can you please explain the logic behind it?

    Ragachovers Assistant & yitayningwut-

    ??? ???? ???? ?? ??? ???? ????? ????, ?? ?? ?? ??? ??? ?????? See Taz 92 Ois Lamed and Shach 107 Ois 7 that discusses this.

What I have heard l’maase is that the first couple of times we can be meikil, but after that we would consider it a kli rishon.
