I just found the following from the Star K –

“If one bought a used vessel which needs to be kashered, e.g. from a non-Jewish owner, the keili must be kashered before it is toveled.”

Pba- My guess would be yes. Any food utensil you buy from a non-jew needs to be toiveled- unless the utensil is ruined and subsequently repaired by a jew.

2qwerty- Lets not confuse common sense with the law, and please address the question.

If someone is on your property you cannot shoot them unless you feel physically threatened- or live in Texas.

If someone parks their car in your driveway I do not think that gives you the right to “take a Louisville slugger to both headlights, and slash a hole in all four tires”….

2qwerty- You didnt answer the question. Being parked on the street “without their permission” shouldnt give them the right to put a sticker on your car.

They can tow you car because it is impeding their work, but they cant pretend your car is not there and just push it out of the way causing significant damage…. or maybe you think they can??!

Health insurance may cover services, depending on the diagnosis.

If a cause of the problems is financial, you may want to get them help for that as well.

There are soooo many so called segulos out there it has hard to differentiate between the legitimate ones and the fraudulent ones.

An unnamed email quoting a segula without a source doesnt prompt much serious thought.

Hatzlocho Rabbah. I also had an experience with them and it was not pleasant.

DO NOT give them any money. Its a lot harder to reclaim your money than a stroller which is sitting in an office. You will need to go back to the airport. If possible, bring your baby and a birth certificate with you when you go. (im assuming you flew separate from your wife and the baby wasnt with you.) A copy of the law you quoted in Hebrew will help you too.

If that doesnt work, then try the other option, start a hafgana!

always runs with scissors fast- I am reposting part of what I wrote earlier as it appears it is becoming more and more on target.

DO NOT blame yourself. Everyone is responsible for their own actions.

IGNORE every post saying “I think your husband has this problem” or ” Your biggest problem is this..”

STOP posting anecdotes of what happened. There will be five different interpretations of everything you post and may not help you at all.

You and your husband both need professional help, both medical and social/emotional. GO GET THAT HELP. Do not try to use the CR as a substitute until then.

Call STF and get professional help. Go see a doctor/psychiatrist who can prescribe medication IF deemed necessary for your PPD. You should also seek out a psychologist to help you overcome the PPD.

BUT most important of all, call STF and let them help you. (Unfortunately) They have a lot of experience with these issues.

My heart goes out to you. May Hashem help you survive this terrible ordeal intact.

PBA- I have to say I disagree with you on this one. First of all, if a shadchan invests time and energy into a shidduch and you break it off, its only fair to tell him why you broke it off. Imho its a lack of hakaras hatov to just say no without telling him why.

Secondly, it will usually work to your advantage if the shadchan knows what was not to your liking so he can better match you up next time.

Thirdly, on behalf of all those that talk about the shidduch crisis all day, if a shadchan tries and tries and doesnt know why his ideas arent working out, he will give up.

Barring extreme circumstances, its only fair to tell the shadchan your reason for saying no. It would be helpful to all parties, and no one needs to get hurt… unless the shadchan is the reason you broke it off!

Seriously? Its been a whole day and he is not toilet trained yet?

Every kid is different, and it can take a long time. DO NOT force him, when he is ready he will do it.

Try giving him lots to drink, and then have him sit on the toilet for an hour. You will need to entertain him while he is sitting there.

nitpicker- “a get is usually given then and there where and when it is to be given” HUH?? If you meant to write a get is usually written etc… I respond that a Get is kosher when sent with a shliach too.

I believe I addressed that last 2 questions you asked.

Regarding the first question, he can write it himself. If he wants the exact loshon he can google it. Its kosher b’dieved either way without many of the details.

Also, I believe the Get does not say where it was given, and the date refers to when it was written, not necessarily given.

What do you think of Dovid Hamelech versus Shlomo Hamelech??

As Goq said, these questions are garbage. We dont compare Gedolim. I cant see any good coming from comparing Gedolim.

Maaseh avos siman l’banim doesnt tell you to compare to find similarities or differences.

Just curious why you chose these two?

oomis1105- A Get can be given against her will. However, there is a cherem from Rabbeinu Gershom against someone who does.

cantgetit- He can force it by placing the Get in a piece of property that she owns.

Health- After living in E”Y for several years and having a relationship with someone in R’ Elyashiv Shlita’s inner circle, I -as well as Avi K and many others- have learned that you cannot believe with certainty anything that is said in his name. I have heard the same halacha question asked of him and once it was muttar and once assur (no special circumstances to speak of).

The famous joke that is said is someone asked R’ Elyashiv if twist ties can be used on Shabbos, and he said yes.

Someone else went into R’ Elyashiv and asked if twist ties can be used on Shabbos, and he said no.

    ?!?!?!

The answer is that the first guy motioned with his hand a single drey (twist) which is muttar, and the second guy dreyed twice which is assur.

Or for exmaple this story reported on YWN a couple of weeks ago:

    R’ Elyashiv said: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=111995

R’ Elyashiv did NOT say that: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=112119

Sam2 and Da Wolf- While I understand your point of view and at times it could be really annoying, the other side of the coin is saying to put things in perspective.

Look at the bright side of things and when compared to other tragedies that B”H didnt happen to you, you wont get as upset.

If after spilling coffee on your shirt someone tells you that yesterday their shirt got caught on a nail and was ruined, you will likely say “BH that didnt happen to me and at least I can cover the stain with a tie/jacket etc…instead of dwelling on the coffee stain.

I dont see any diference between using the first two services mentioned when needed and not the last two.
