Lesschumras- while that may be true the MINHAG of many is to not eat gebrokst.

Did you know that the Chofetz Chaim didn’t eat gebrokst?

Avi K-I used Gebrokst as an example. But to respond to your post, I would not advise anyone to eat gebrokst on pesach just because other Rabbonim hold its mutar if his minhag is otherwise.

Also, “very often couples combine minhagim where they are not inconsistent” is that a halachic decision???? I am not saying there is anything wrong with taking a positive minhag from your spouse. But for the husband to drop a minhag because its not his wifes minhag should need a psak from a Rav.

rhj- Isnt it “I am not a crook”?

The tape is amazing. The planning that went into the tape to make it soo enjoyable for all us adults?! to listen to it over and over with our kids (and without when no one is looking!) is incredible!

The wife is to take on her husband’s minhagim. If she wants to be machmir on something with his consent then kol hakavod. But she cant decide to continue eating gebrokts for example if he doesnt, and he cant decide to eat gebrokts because she did. (Unless he asks his LOR and is matir neder)

“also, does anyone know about these schemes that have you sell their products and get agents and then they pay you percents….?? “

Yes- The company calls it “multi level marketing”, while the rest of us call it a pyramid scheme. It also happens to be illegal.

ICOT- The difference is that your coworker may actually respect you for your beliefs, and have a more positive view of Jews.

This book, however, has the opposite effect.

MBA’s are not worth much these days, especially if its not from an ivy league school. This may change by the time you graduate, but this is the reality today.

Businesses want people with experience, and the more specialized the experience the better. An MBA gives one general knowledge in a lot of different areas- knowledge one who has been in yeshiva full time may not have. But to get a job it may be better to know what field you want to work in and tailor your education and experience accordingly.

Why dont you enroll in a flex spending account?

Its not a deduction on your income tax, its money that is set aside prior that is not taxed.

Depending on your income you need to determine which would be the greater benefit to you.

If you are already paying 17k for health insurance, it may be worth it to purchase better insurance which is a little more but without all the copays.

You should consider dental insurance although I dont think they would cover orthodontists.

Either way, you should sit with an insurance broker who can best guide you.

I recall hearing that wearing clothing inside out can cause one to forget their learning.

A mentor/Rabbi should not control everything in your life. He is a guide. You should be able to think for yourself when necessary. You know ourself better than anyone.

The problem with that line of reasoning is that you are biased, and its nearly impossible to make an unbiased decision for yourself. Secondly, your reasonings may be influenced by non torah concepts.

There is no one correct path to G-d. Everyone should find their own unique path that will enable them to reach their highest potential.

AGREED. Which is why we have Chassidish, Litvish, MO, Mizrachi, etc….

IMH undeducated opinion #1 seems to be a better computer. However, if you are looking to save money and want to go with #2 there are a few things you should know.

    1. Are these desktops or laptops?

2.You should try to inquire of the brand name (HP, Dell, Acer, Sony, eMachine, etc..)

    3. 2GB RAM should be enough for Windows XP, but if you intend to store lots of music and video on the computer you may want to up the RAM.

4.Not all computers can have the RAM upgraded to whatever you want to, there may be a limit involved.

    5. You indicated lots of skype usage; does either have a built in camera?

Feif un- Disagreeing in lomdus is encouraged. However, when it comes to halacha -and most certaintly haskafa- you cannot argue with the Gedolim, unless there are other Gedolim of equivalent caliber that agree with your opinion, in which case you are not disagreeing with the Gedolim, their peers are.

If a Gadol gives you a psak and you follow it, you will not be held accountable for following the psak.

Isnt it strange that layman want to argue with Gedolim its usually when they feel the Gedolim are being too stringent?

Feif un- No need to answer this publicly, but how often do you disagree and follow your intuition and are more stringent?

Sam2- As you appear to have learned the halachos regarding music in depth, you must also have heard the heter given for listening to music today.

When i learned the sugya of zimun I arrived at the same conclusion. I tell women all the time that they must answer zimun and have no heter to bench earlier.

brooklyn shadchan- My point was that as a bochur I started learning at 7 ( before davening). After I got married- Shona Rishona I didnt learn night seder, and after that night seder was only until about 1030, not 1 AM.

You cannot learn as much after marriage than as before.

Home Insurance companies ask if you have a trampoline- meaning its an additional liability. You may want to rethink your decision to buy a trampoline due to the health risks involved, not merely the extra dollars to the insurance company.

brooklyn shadchan- Is your rant against boys starting to date later or against them learning in yeshiva in E”Y?

“Their is no reason why a boy cant shteig after the chasana “- Yes there is. As a bochur I started learning at 7AM until about 1AM- and I wasnt alone. Other than davening, 3 quick meals and a half hour lunch nap I was in the Beis Medrash. After marriage you cant do anything close to that, whether the reason being Shona Rishona, Shalom Bayis, and having children to take care of. Also, as DY posted above, after marriage “the parnassah clock starts ticking”.

1- Nowadays it is best for each person to daven maariv himself and not rely on hearing it from the Shliach Tzibur.

2-Whenever someone is motzei you with a bracha you should always answer Amen. (Although your question as to why its not as if you said amen to your own bracha needs an explanation)

3- Yes. Including pasuk rishon. Its best if you can hear what you are saying, which applies to Shmonei Esrei as well.

ZK- This pshat in the pasuk was already suggested by R’ Yosef Salant zt’l in his sefer Be’er Yosef.

He explains that the mixture of the animals made the makka great, as each animal brought along the climate it lives in with him to Mitzrayim.
