    for a short answer
we do redeem the maaser sheini for what it’s worth, but since it can’t be eaten it is only worth a prutah, even if its a lot of fruit

one more thing at the beginning of the shiur Rabbi Noigershal states that the reason Gedolei Yisroel assured joining the army has nothing to do with not accepting the zionist state

    @simcha613
if you really want to know the reason behind Gedolei Yisroel’s opposition to the religious jews joining the army, search for
“Rabbi Mordechai Noigershal – Perspectives on Drafting Yeshiva Students” the shiur can be found on kol halashon and on youtube
its a shiur given in plain english (heavy israeli accent but very easy to understand)
    enjoy

if i recall in shut tzitz eliezer he calls for all jews to move to eretz yisroel – he writes that if the erliche yidden would move to eretz yisroel then there would be no secular state because the religious would be a very substantial percent of the population, the Yabia Omer writes that even though there are big yeshivos in america for every one that they save they lose 10 to intermarriage, Harav Chaim Kanievsky zatzal was instructing all yidden to move to eretz yisroel, i heard this personally from harav Aryeh Schechter zatzal , and last i think anyone who can should read the last drasha of Parshas Kedoshim in the sefer Tiferes Shimshon by Harav Shimshon Dovid Pincus zatzal to understand what is going on in the world right now

    Avira
selling chometz is not something new, its brought down in the shulchan aruch siman 448
the source is a tosefta and therefore chazal
and the biur hagra there does not write anything against selling it
the mishna brurah does not write against selling chometz
and therefore it is a chumra and its a chumra against chazal
if a person wants to be machmir not to sell thats one thing but after it was sold the halacha is its allowed (supposing the sale was done correctly)

please see the aruch hashulchan y”d siman 116 were he says that someone who is machmir in a place that the poiskim were meikel could be considered minus (theres also a maharshal brought down in hilchos busur vichuluv that says the same)

this is all except for the issur of baal tashchis for throwing out food that is halachically permitted
    – at least donate it to the less fortunate

there is big difference between the chiyuv for a man to marry and the chiyuv for a woman to get married
i dont thnk it is right to make halachic assumptions in a public forum where someone can use them as halacha – at least talk to a Poisek first

I dont think the vort was specifically about an apple its just that the logo is of a fruit with a bite taken out of it (as in the forbidden fruit)

I once heard in the name of Rabbi Eli Mansour that according to the midrash the main sin of eitz hadaas was loshon hara and today in the era of social media a person can spead lashon hara to thousands with the click of a botton (or a swipe on a screen) so when a person sees the bitten apple logo it can serve as a reminder of the eitz hadaas and he’ll watch what he writes

when it comes to prices the answer always is supply and demand
since they’re supplying they can ask for as much as they think you will pay
and there is demand because you have to buy

my Rosh Kollel once said that when young avrech comes to get accepted he asks them where they learned in yeshiva if they answer in the Mir he asks them but where did you learn
because in the Mir if you want you can learn but you also can do anything else you want with no real hadracha unless you yourself seek it
this not to say that a bachur cant grow in the Mir I know quite a few chashuva avreichim that started out in the Mir
about other yeshivas the rabbeim in your HS should be able to help you choose the Yeshiva that is best for you or the Rav of your shul

i think the idea was that serving trump on rosh hashana when we are supposed to be serving the True King is a contradiction
which is true but not funny
its sad that people dont understand that voting for trump dosent mean we have to see him as the almighty

the whole reason for testimony is chesed with the perpetrator so that he gets his atonement they a the first to punish bec. this shows their integrity and it gives them a chance to finish the chesed they started but still if they refuse they may be over an asei i’m not sure
but either way the rest of the punishment will still be carried out bec. if not the perpetrator will miss out his caporoh

an Anglo ghetto is fine but the prices are outrageous
especially the furniture packages that are offered to the unknowing Americans they range usually between 5000 and 15000 dollars for used furniture
while you can furnish a small apartment very nicely for 3000 shekels or even less if you’re willing to go second hand
and like my brother always says the reason they give out the red string at the kosel is so that everyone knows who the Americans are so they can raise the prices 🙂

first we have to define what is meant by moral or immoral according to the Torah not oxford
second, we cant judge just by what we see in the media being that the media shows only what they want us to see.
and what someone wrote about being chasidei umos haolam – the definition is not someone who saves yidden it is a goy who keeps sheva mitzvos bnei noach – so if he ever stole anything he is already not a chassid unos haolam
and there is a machlokes if a goy can do tshuvah
