No! We want you here! You add quite a lot. Just from what you are describing it sounds like you need some CR rehab in order to function here properly. Normally I would NEVER prescribe CR rehab but from what you sound like …

What I am trying to say is stay away for say a week or two with NO PEEKS!! Then once you have gotten control of yourself, come back. We like to call it CR rehab

Celiac, thyroid, and diabetes are three things that I have learned about due to family having them though of all three I know most about diabetes.

From what I have seen, being low looks like it feels worse and being high doesn’t feel as bad but lasts longer

When I first started here, we had a joke about the posters who disappeared that they were in CR rehab. I think it would be a good idea to actualize such an idea. In other words, stay out of the CR until you internalize your non-virtual life and then come back with the breath of real air.

Always here: I have been trying for soo long to try and get a picture of that sign as a present for my brother. Kinda frustrating to get a picture when you pass the sign at 60 mph (that is the speed limit on that stretch, right?)

Aww man! I had to learn all this by being brought up by my parents to be a mentch and to treat others nicely and to be a nice person myself. I could have just come here and learned it all in five minutes! Seriously though this stuff is very important and even though it can take a bit to internalize and not make it seem like it is forced, DO IT!!! (And I am a guy. I just find it really uncool how everyone acts these days)

Mod(s): if you did try and send an e-mail, please send it again. I either deleted it by mistake or it never came through.

Though how do I know for sure that the mods even sent anything in the first place?

Thank you mbachur but that doesn’t apply to me.

Yummy: I am 19, a boy, and yes I am dating. I am a bostoner chossid but that has nothing to do with me getting married at a younger age. Un/fortunately for me I was prepared for the next stage in life due to many growth experiences (major loss for example). Being put in though situations (of responsibility) matures you very fast also. There are times I have to remind myself that I am only 19 which will usually in turn give me a big confidence booster as I will see that I have accomplished something. I happen to have a whole bunch of friends who all got married under 23 except in cases where fortune was having a bad day and not smiling.

I am a boy (and have stated so quite often around here) and my background is, if the kid’s ready, let them get married. Un/fortunately I have been through a lot of experiences in life which have allowed me to grow a lot in less time.

The backgrounds that marry young lichatchilah, I believe the way the mind set is, that they are brought up with certain things as givens hence they behave and have certain maturity at an earlier age so they get married then.

Am I trying to solve the shidduch crises? I am only one boy …

You might want to take a glance at the “diabetes support group” thread see if there is something there (if there is it would be on the last two pages at most)

Yes I know these things, appreciate them, and live by them. The date not working out isn’t what irked me, what irked me was she was totally not what I was expecting. I had a little niggle in the back of my mind and decided to give it a chance anyway. This doesn’t belong on this thread so I am gonna stop now.

I still should go to sleep as I need to get to work tomorrow and being that it is a big day (we have to take care of three days worht of work in one) I need all the rest I can get

By the way, an interesting topic, what is it about going through the same experience that lends comfort? Or in different terms, what about

saying someone had it worse or someone is going through the same thing offers comfort? Is it knowing you aren’t alone? Is it being understood and having full sympathy/empathy because the person has a full understanding of what you are going through? Just an interesting thought

But why can’t maturing come without all the anguish? I know I am still a teen, I am not being pressured into anything but there is a difference between someone not being the right one (which I have no issue with as they can be very nice and everything as a person just we wouldn’t work as a couple) and being so off as to be ludicrous (talk about needing to be mature).

I feel bad kvetching to all of you here like this. I think all I need is to sleep. Good night

I know that I am now moving on to the next stage in life but ALL my teenage years were very rough (with some good spots here and there) and I just want to go back and re-live them (yeah I know not realistic but I still want my innocence back and not to have had to have gone through all of what I went through) kinda like a bachelor party, one last shot before things really change.

Sorry for kvetching here I just had a rough day today (spent three hours finding out every reason why a girl is not for me) and want my happy/innocent/carefree days back

I feel sad because I am being shifted out of my younger years. Things grow old when you don’t look. I remember when I was 16 here, boy was that fun. Now I am 19 and it seems all the posters keep getting younger and everything has changed. I mean I have a nephew and niece getting married in the near future (niece this wednesday and nephew end of sivan), I am dating, where did it all go? I want to be a kid again

PBA brings a good point actually. issues could be solved if we taught how to drink properly. i personally learned from my father and a few other respected people (my rosh hayeshivah, mashgiach, first, second, and night seder rabeim, etc) how to drink.

it’s really assur for girls to drink? i thought they were supposed to have a little more than what they usually have and that’s it and it is the men who are supposed to “seriously” drink

First, religious reason waives the drinking age (though not the purchasing age). Second, the chiyuv to lose inhibition starts at the age of thirteen for boys and twelve for girls (yes girls are michuyav in ad dilo yodah also). Third, one can be yotze ad dilo yodah just by drinking (slightly) more than what one usually does. Fourth, the halacha says NOTHING about drinking irresponsibly and to no end. Yes there are those opinions to “get smashed” but there is a difference between drinking to inebriation and drinking to no end and irresponsibly.

Do I drink and am under 21? Yes. Do/would I drink to the point where I would (barely) have minimal control? Yes. Would I make sure to prepare things so that when I don’t have control it could still be taken care of (like making sure I drink water and eat foods that would help counter the “bad” effects of alchohol)? Absolutely and that is always first on my list even before I get wine (and ONLY wine as that is what the mitzvah is with-look in the megillah and perushim if you don’t believe me)

So yes it bothers me too
