They give free ready-to-eat food samples in places like Costco and Pomegranate. So why not Ikea?
October 11, 2017 9:26 am at 9:26 am in reply to: Driving in the left lane at the speed limit #1380180JosephParticipantCan anyone simply, logically and clearly define the differences, if any, between “passing” a car and “cutting off” a car?
JosephParticipantWinnie, the Litvish Yerushalamis, for example, i.e. from the talmidei haGra, use Yiddish names.

October 10, 2017 11:06 pm at 11:06 pm in reply to: Why is hashem punishing the Caribbean islands? #1380116JosephParticipantAnd yet another hurricane hits America, in such close proximity to an already unusually high number of hurricanes.
And now large portions of urban California is burning down full neighborhoods of urban population centers.
I can already hear the apikorsum yelling “but it’s fire season!” Right, urban neighborhoods that have been thought to be safe from wildfires now burning to the ground, with dozens known dead and hundreds more unaccounted for…
October 10, 2017 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm in reply to: Driving in the left lane at the speed limit #1379967JosephParticipantWhat if there’s heavy traffic or it’s rush hour and all lanes are congested. Must everyone leave the left lane since traffic is too heavy for anyone to pass, according to the law in those states that only permit passing traffic?
JosephParticipantThe best research needs to be done before you meet the potential shidduch.

October 9, 2017 8:23 pm at 8:23 pm in reply to: Vegas Massacre: 59 Good Reasons to Outlaw Automatic Weapons #1379712JosephParticipant“Accidental gun deaths are fully avoidable by proper education, storage and usage.
We don’t ban cars because they kill more lives than they save.”
Require certification of proper gun education and storage facilities prior to permitting gun ownership and/or usage.
A driver’s license requires a driving test be passed. A firearms license (surely) should be required with the aforementioned prerequisites, as well.
As an aside, a separate point I would like to make is that hunting for fun (not food) should be outlawed.
JosephParticipant.
JosephParticipantWhy not name Tishrei instead of Sivan?
JosephParticipantYekke was being facetious in his comment to you, as well.
JosephParticipantSkyz, the first comment after your comment wasn’t written by 770Chabad. It was written by a mod TO 770C. The mod (confusingly to anyone not a regular here) edited out 770Cs original comment and replaced it with his comment to 770C.
October 9, 2017 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm in reply to: Vegas Massacre: 59 Good Reasons to Outlaw Automatic Weapons #1379652JosephParticipantA loaded weapon in the home is a danger to innocents. More people die from accidental gun deaths than intruders killed by lawful gun owners.

October 9, 2017 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm in reply to: Driving in the left lane at the speed limit #1379457JosephParticipantThus far no one has offered a rational explanation why driving at the maximum legal speed in the left land is problematic (other than in states that legally mandate the left lane is only permitted to be temporarily used to pass other vehicles, as per CTL.)
If we accept that generally no one should be driving faster than the posted legal speed limit, then driving at the maximum legally permitted speed in the left lane should pose no issues with preventing other vehicles from passing (unless they are illegally speeding.)
JosephParticipantIt was general advice to the klal.

October 9, 2017 11:17 am at 11:17 am in reply to: What’s the proper time for a bochur to daven shacharis during bein hazemanim? #1379334JosephParticipantMany Gedolim wished they could change the system so that there would be Yeshiva on Chol HaMoed even if the Yeshiva then had to give another four days (or however many) off to the talmidim on a regular non-Yom Tov time to “make up” for the days they had Yeshiva on Chol HaMoed for.

October 8, 2017 7:21 pm at 7:21 pm in reply to: The likelihood of raising a half black child as yeshivish #1379124JosephParticipantubiq, what’s genetics have to do with the question? If one grandparent is European, one Asian and two African, then the child(ren) are 25% Caucasian, 25% Asian and 50% African. You don’t need a DNA test to figure that out.
