newbee, are you again mixing things up? I took no position. I simply asked a question and requested a source.

To save one’s life, yes. To learn Torah, no.

    Source?

The second one especially is worrisome.

Why are you more worried about the second one than the first one? Is a spiritual life less important than a physical life?

No, Rav Shteinman was never in favor of any such thing as chareidim serving in the Israeli army, despite any blog reports that spread that falsehood. Any he bears no responsibility for the creation of the so-called Nachal Chareidi, which is 80% non-Chareidi.

In addition to being able to turn off data or texting from the accounts portal, you can also blacklist phone numbers from being called or make a whitelist of phone numbers that are the only numbers that can be called from the cellphone.

It also allows you to set service timers were the phone can only be used during specific hours or days of the week. You can also view a real-time itemized listing of every number called or texted.

Israel has a very sharp class divisions, and will probably self-destruct over that if it doesn’t address the matter which would be hard to do as the secular upper class isn’t about to share the wealth.

First prove that there is an age gap to close. Until anyone can do that, no one should be promoting it in any way.

So if it is not possible to prove either way, then in your opinion no one should be promoting or encouraging to close the age gap — even if anecdotal evidence strongly suggests that the age gap is a large cause for a disparity in girls having available shidduchim.

Therefore, in your opinion, even if the age gap is causing women to be unable to get married, it should not be addressed or fixed despite the anecdotal evidence that is happening, because it cannot be proven.

kapusta – if it is impossible to obtain “proof” one way or another on the age gap issue and its effect in skewering shidduchim availability, then in your opinion nothing should be done to alleviate the age gap?

The problem is, “pro-vaxxers” over-inflate the benefits (and risks of inaction), while “anti-vaxxers” over-inflate the risks and downplay the dangers of disease. This leads to a lack of a middle ground and flexibility.

Avram, what would a middle ground constitute and how might someone taking a middle ground on this issue act on that position vis-a-vis vaccinating his children?

A national scientific survey will cost far far more than some weekly ads in Hamodia and Yated. But the cost isn’t the only issue that make a scientific survey impractical. How will you identify all frum families with their contact information. And then how many will even respond.

And if a scientific survey isn’t feasible, should the age gap issue be ignored even if it may be playing a large role, thus letting it perpetuate?

And, kapusta, if the practicalities or cost of conducting an official survey make it impractical to administer, should the community then act as if the age gap is not a major factor and ignore that as an issue even if that admittedly may play a large role?

kapusta – what would be the minimal requirements to conduct a survey to prove (or disprove) that the age gap is responsible for a large portion of the shidduch disparity, that would allow the survey to be acceptable?

Would every frum family in the US have to be surveyed? How would eligible frum families be identified for participation? What response rate would be minimally acceptable? What questions would have to be asked? Who would cover the (very significant) cost of this scientific survey?

I should say a large portion of the blame belongs to these sites even when the images themselves are not pritzus. They frequently post simcha images with no permission from any of the baalei simcha. I’ve seen multiple times where the baalei simcha were upset to find their pictures on these sites.

adocs’ satire was a knock against the pro-vaxxers’ argument that it is a given that vacs’ are responsible for all the reductions in diseases over the last X decades/centuries by virtue of the fact that both occurred over the same rough time periods.

The sites should at least pixelate the portion of the image where they are touching or are improperly clad (i.e. elbows/knees and above), if they don’t have the decency to not publish it.

TV is banned and yet some people violate that ban too. It still a tremendous benefit for all the people who don’t have a TV due to the ban, whereas they otherwise would have.
