JosephParticipant
Wolf, I said unjustified shootings. Your count includes a vast majority of police shootings of violent criminals who were posing an immediate mortal threat to law enforcement and/or the public
JosephParticipantmw13, do you disagree that a woman’s place is in the home and that civilization for thousands of years, until roughly 100 years ago, always recognized and acted as such. And are you unfamiliar that our seforim hakedoshim state that a man’s place is to go out in the world and engage outside the home while a woman’s place is to remain in the home and run they family’s domestic affairs?
Do you think not only the American founding fathers got it wrong, but all of civilization from the beginning of time until Susan B. Anthony came along all got it wrong, including Chazal and our own chachomim?
JosephParticipantSam: A Jew needn’t go on a reality TV show to let goyim know we are different.
July 10, 2016 4:13 pm at 4:13 pm in reply to: Why people become OTD (with the focus on the "why") #1164772JosephParticipantRabbi Fischer’s essay was in direct response to a specific survey of OTD individuals. Keep that in mind when reading the rabbis article and be familiar with the original offending surveys absurd conclusions.
JosephParticipantWhere are the mass protests against black-on-white shootings, killings and crimes? Specifically black-on-police shootings, which occur far far far more frequently, unjustified shootings, killings and attacks on police officers, than any amount of unjustified police-on-black shootings.
#bluelivesmatter
#whitelivesmatter
Let’s organize a mass protest against unjustified shootings of police officers, and other violent crimes perpetrated against law enforcement officials, across the Brooklyn Bridge.
JosephParticipantYY, he’s the name I somehow found six years ago or so. Where’d you read he bought the publisher in 1980?
JosephParticipantNew York’s part-time legislature hasn’t been working out too well.
JosephParticipantGoyim should now that Jews are not like them. Jews are different. They dress different, they act different, and they live different.
JosephParticipantSo they’re completely out-of-business currently? Someone must own the rights to their works and copyrights should someone be interested in copying or reprinting something.
The most recent printing of one’s of their seforim I saw was dated 1998. It was the only Sefer I ever saw from them that had their address and phone number (which was in Queens and no longer active) and it was a reprint of a decades earlier release.
About six years ago I tried finding them and ended up locating (via Google and some online directories) some listing in upstate New York of an officer in a Reconstructionist congregation but never got a callback from a message left at that number.
JosephParticipantOne of them was a singing show. Both mixed men and women and undoubtedly full of inappropriately attired. And both involved mixing for socializing and entertainment with aino Yehudim.
JosephParticipantWe are the nation chosen by G-d Himself for a reason. Because we are the best.
JosephParticipant#%@&!
JosephParticipantWe now have word for the MN officer’s lawyer that a) he was pulled over for more than simply a taillight violation and b) he failed to comply with the officer’s order when reaching into his pocket. We also do not know if he had a license to carry a firearm, other than the so-called girlfriend’s claim he did.
JosephParticipantNegative.
JosephParticipantNot that I’m taking this as Torah MiSinai, just that this is how the story is currently being told – it may very well change.
Next time don’t swallow the media’s narrative wholesale all at once. Not only “it may very well change”, it will change. The media has no chezkes kashrus. Especially on these type of issues where they have a sordid history of getting it very wrong and biasing their coverage in an anti-police inclination favoring these #blacklivesmatter thugs, who themselves have a history of supporting cop-killers.
P.S. You’ve met the deadline for my directive to have a public disagreement with me within 30 days. You’ve now proven you’re not my poodle. 🙂
JosephParticipantcherrybim, is VIA comparable in taste/quality to the stuff you buy in a Starbucks retail outlet?
JosephParticipantCTL, your point about parochial schools isn’t clear. CT governments (either local or state) pays the tuition of public school students but not private school students. Parochial students need to pay their own tuition. It hasn’t anything to do whether the parochial schools are local or regional.
JosephParticipant“???? ???? ?????? ???? ??? ??? ?’ ???? ?’ – ????: “???? ?????? ?????? ??? ??? ????????? ????? ?????? ??????? ??? ?????? ???? ??? ??????”.
??????- “???????? ???? ????? ?????… ?????? ??? ???? ?? ????? ???? ?? ????? ??? ????? ???…”
Hilchos Rechilus 9:15
???? ????? ???? ?????? ????? ??? ???????, ??? ??? ????? ??????? ?????
Do you disagree with the Chofetz Chaim? The CC says you should judge an apikorus.
JosephParticipantYY, it is undeniable that American Jews make, on average, significantly more than the average American income as well as a result of the preceding pay more dollars in taxes than the average American.
Donald Trump pays more in taxes than you despite all his tax breaks. In fact, he pays more in taxes than you make.
JosephParticipantThere is no evidence that the man shot was a criminal, and certainly no evidence that he was currently engaged in any criminal activity
There’s no evidence to the contrary, so no one can today judge the police officer at fault.
JosephParticipantYY, Jews earn significantly above the national average income, and thus pay more taxes.
JosephParticipantJews pay more taxes, per-capita, than non-Jews.
JosephParticipantpopa, I agree. My primary point is to push back against the immediate blame-the-police mentality of these protesters. If the officer is at fault, he should fully be held to account.
Btw, Goq said the same thing I did and he’s getting the pet gloves treatment. 🙂
JosephParticipantWolf, you completed the investigation to conclude that the guy wasn’t a criminal and wasn’t stopped for a reason greater than a broken taillight and that he complied with the lawful orders of the officer who stopped him?
Or, perhaps, Mr. Wolf (see, I’m not calling you Rabbi) you simply ate up everything the media fed you on this story, wholesale, as well as that so-called girlfriend whose first reaction before the smoke of the gun cleared was to whip out a smartphone, startup some streaming app and begin filming a video of her injured but not yet dead boyfriend, falsely narrating that he’s dead and whatever other figments of her wild imagination conjured up rather than rendering assistance, requesting medical attention or cooperating with law enforcement officials – all the while her “friend” lay bleeding beside her.
While neither of us know much details on a case that is hardly 24 hours old, and the OP referenced multiple cases (“another”), what we do know from the earlier cases is that almost every one of these #blacklivesmatter police shootings involved a career criminal not complying with orders from a law enforcement officer, usually after being stopped for actual or suspected criminal behavior.
JosephParticipantAnd what is your conclusion on the question?
JosephParticipantThe lesser, the besser.
JosephParticipantAnother day, another criminal getting into an altercation with law enforcement.
JosephParticipantWhere’s the controversy here? Here’s a question to light up this thread:
Will people who put on Rashi and R”T Tefilin everyday of their lives (on weekdays) get more Olam Haba than someone who only puts on Rashi everyday of his life?
If not, why are the R”T wearers wearing it? If yes, why are the Rashi-only wearers not wearing both?
JosephParticipantCan we conclude that an Orthoprax is closer to a ???? ?????? than to a ???? ????????
JosephParticipantNu, how do all of you coffee connoisseurs rate Starbucks in relation to VIA, Taster’s Choice and Gevalia?
July 7, 2016 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm in reply to: Women only hours at a public municipal pool in Williamsburg #1158909JosephParticipantThe change in hours only takes effect in the Fall (September). Should give the honchos time to get additional hours added for next summer.
JosephParticipantI’m not a boki at modern polish technologies, but Shopping613 was saying it stays on for a couple of weeks and it could be timed for the cycle. If it is on during certain parts of the cycle, and not others, there’s the issue I presented.
JosephParticipantaIY: And if a person attempts to run in the Shabbos elevator as the doors are closing, the elevator will pin the person between the doors and the wall – or, rather, the sensor will activate even though it is on Shabbos mode?
JosephParticipantShopping613: It isn’t tznius to “work it out” so that the polish is on during certain parts of the cycle and not on during other parts of the cycle, timed for mikva dates, as that can be a public sign as to where the woman is holding in the cycle.
JosephParticipantgavra: How is not putting money in the meter different halachicly than not sending money to the IRS?
JosephParticipantI never heard of this social pressure. People who like chocolate ice cream seem to have as many friends despite not going for vanilla.
JosephParticipantWhich issurei d’oraisa apply to not feeding the meter when parking.
JosephParticipantSam, the other side for 3 regarding a nochri government is dina d’malchusa.
JosephParticipant1. Cheeseburgers
2. OO
3. Kriyas Shma
4. College
Any other questions? 🙂
JosephParticipantSam: A husband/father is responsible to insure the compliance of members of his household for the full spectrum of halacha. He is responsible to insure his wife and children eat only kosher, his sons put on tefilin daily, his wife and daughters wear only tznius, everyone keeps Shabbos correctly, etc.
JosephParticipantHow, then, does Mr. Weiss from HIR create new halachas?
JosephParticipantI think ties came around hundreds of years ago in the Serb/Yugoslav area.
JosephParticipantHistorically when in the contemporary era did Jewish women start wearing nail polish?
golfer, you need men who learn Torah to delineate and quantify what the specific halachas are regarding tznius, including specific limitations and measurements. The seforim throughout history address these and they’re learnt in yeshivos as well as part of halacha. It is also the husband’s and father’s halachic responsibility to insure members of his household are in compliance with these halachas.
JosephParticipantYes, we are intolerant of immorality. Especially when shoved in our faces. And, G-d forbid, potentially influencing impressionable youth as well as affecting the piety of adults. At one time even gentiles recognized it immoral to shove in public such exposure.
JosephParticipantWhich motion sensor, NCB?
Also, why do you assume it a given if someone approves of a Shabbos elevator he approves of an escalator? The Shabbos elevator presumably has special features/functions to make it acceptable to those rabbis on Shabbos (I’m not sure what they are), whereas the escalator is standard unit without any special Shabbos accommodations.
JosephParticipantZD: Why are you knocking Yeshiva’s English education when your own English isn’t, exactly, the Queen’s English and is at most on par with a Yeshiva educated English, if even that.
JosephParticipantAccording to two sources I found, escalators will use more energy when it has passengers versus when it does not. And the more weight, the more electricity.
JosephParticipantJosephParticipantPaint it over. Eventually they’ll get the point.
JosephParticipantLogically it would seem most use more electricity to move if additional weight is on it.
