Tomorrow’s NYTimes states that Kushner has had the final word with Trump amongst his various advisors, as he’s his most trusted, throughout the campaign. It says Kushner will remain the President-elect’s senior advisor during his presidency whether or not he’s given a formal title/position.

So you believe that whether a potential shidduch match is diabetic or not should not be factor whether someone dates or marries him/her, correct?

Obama has much worse supporters than Trump ever had. Jeremy Wright, Louis Farrakhan, the black panthers and other violent anti-Semitic, anti-white thugs.

Abarbanel didn’t prevent the expulsion but he helped the Jews previously in many other ways as a result of his position. And his position in no way caused the expulsion. Rambam also served the ruler.

CTL, prior to Roe v. Wade, abortion was legal in many (but not all) states. So it wasn’t necessary to leave the country for an abortion. Secondly, even the states that outlawed abortion, for the most part, had exceptions.

The world’s largest Christian church is a minority of both Republicans and Americans, huju, and their positions don’t reflect their policy by a longshot. Furthermore, the vast majority of Republican pro-lifers explicitly support an exception when the mother’s life is endangered.

Mammele, why do you oppose Kushner having a White House appointment? Religious Jews have served in high positions for rulers throughout golus (Abarbanel, etc.)

Kushner’s been one of Trump’s closest advisors since Trump ran in the primary.

A woman’s place isn’t in the public arena. This isn’t a novel idea. Shulchan Aruch, Rambam, Chazal, etc. share this point.

You can only know he’s taking meds because (or, rather, if) he discloses that.

Wouldn’t widespread refusal to date otherwise healthy individuals on meds encourage such individual to drop their medication before starting shidduchim so that they needn’t disclose that they’re on meds?

There vast majority of Republicans, including the President-elect, don’t oppose abortion when the mother’s life is endangered. The President-eject isn’t half as dangerous to women’s bodies as Bill Clinton was as President and would again be had his supporter and enabler, Hillary, moved him back into the White House where he previously abused women.

lilmod has changed how she handles men/women first/second in public based on halachic discussions here. She also has become more appreciative of the position on gittin matters I’ve expressed. And both of these are just with one person in the last few weeks.

So, yeah, change happens in real life as a result of discussions.

Trump isn’t much older than Reagan was when first elected. Hillary isn’t much younger than him either. Bloomberg, who seriously considered running, is a number of years older than Trump.

There’s nothing anymore wrong with discussing the original topic than discussing eating kitniyos on Pesach. Some Jews do it and some Jews don’t. For both kitniyos and polygamy. Indeed, it is probable that changing the custom to start eating kitniyos for an Ashkenazic Jew is more difficult than for an Ashkenazic Jew to start practicing polygamy like Teimani Jews do.

Either way, having a serious discussion either about the original topic or about kitniyos is certainly northing wrong with.

Additionally, under Jewish law a convert, once converted, is considered to no longer have any relationship with his biological family. This is true to the point that under pure biblical law it is even technically permitted for a convert to marry his biological mother if she also converts. The biblical obligation of honoring one’s parents doesn’t apply to them, though by rabbinical edict some obligations apply and marriage to them is prohibited.
