JosephParticipant
In the profile section there are some new biography questions you can optionally fill out (including first name and last name!)
Btw I’m getting email notifications for new CR posts on threads I requested them, so that’s working.
JosephParticipantThe easiest giveaway is the new email notification option below the comment box. But I saw a few other new features as well.
JosephParticipantThe CR software was upgraded in the past few days. First upgrade, I think, in many years. Probably why the setting enabling moderation was reset.
JosephParticipantCan the mods comment whether the current unmoderated mode (or at least not pre-moderated) is intentional?
JosephParticipantMeir Kahane also thought being a big mouth and having a JDL would keep himself safe in galus. He famously said he felt safer in America than in Eretz Yisroel. We saw where that got him.
And a good number of JDL leaders ended up in prison and got themselves on the State Department’s domestic terror list.
JosephParticipantIf it’s physical call the police.
If it’s verbal keep your head low, ignore and move on. Remember you’re in galus.
March 6, 2017 9:58 pm at 9:58 pm in reply to: Fruit of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing #1221939JosephParticipantThey are.
The fruit of my labor.
JosephParticipantIs that the spelling on his birth certificate?
JosephParticipantI might (or might not) still have a recording of myself on the air with him. I may have discussed Bill Clinton’s tragic fiasco in Waco, Texas with the Branch Davidians.
JosephParticipantNational politics.
I also spoke to Governor George Pataki of New York, Mayor Rudy Guiliani of New York and various candidates for office at different times on the radio.
JosephParticipantI called in. And was put on the air.
Rush has been America’s most listened to national talk radio host for the past 30 years. WABC was the flagship NYC radio station until a few years ago.
I also met Mr. Limbaugh in the city in the mid-90s.
JosephParticipantThis happened once before able 6 or 7 years ago. And someone took bad advantage of it then.
JosephParticipantI think I was on the air twice with Country Yossi. In the mid-80s. I was also on the air with Rush Limbaugh and the entire WABC roster at some points in the 90s.
JosephParticipantIt’s free. I believe they’ve quoted you too. And it’s monthly (weekly was a typo.) Still remember their first issue. Was about the time I was on the air with him.
JosephParticipantYossi Toiv generally only reprints threads that have my wisdom imparted in it. Which is why I’m quoted nearly every week.
JosephParticipantWelcome back, Shticky Guy,
You’ve been away so long,
But no one knows why.
To us it doesn’t matter,
So long as you drop by,
To hear my atrocious limericks,
That’s why.
March 5, 2017 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm in reply to: George Washington was right about political parties #1220829JosephParticipantWashington was opposed to the formation of political parties. (And, to date, has been the only President not a member of any.)
JosephParticipantAY: Rabbi A.I. Kook wore an IDF uniform before the IDF was around?
JosephParticipantMine wouldn’t be different.
March 2, 2017 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm in reply to: Exorbitant number of auto leasing companies #1220393JosephParticipantThe only aderaba is to make those who wasted money on an auto lease assuge their feelings after throwing away money. There’s no financial advantage that can be enumerated for a lease versus purchasing an affordable vehicle.
JosephParticipantLeasing is a waste of money.
Buy don’t lease. If you can’t afford it, buy what you can afford.
JosephParticipantLawmakers can reduce regulations and make very little strings attached.
JosephParticipant119.
JosephParticipantOP: Why the obsession trying to insure your ex isn’t honored or invited to simchas? It’s time to leave your bitterness behind you. That means not being bothered if your ex is invited to a bar mitzvah or chasuna.
That above point is true even if your characterizing of him, as you described above, is all accurate. Additionally, your bias may be preventing you from seeing the past objectively in assessing whether that characterizion is accurate.
JosephParticipantOn that token of logic, how do you keep Jewish taxpayers off of taxpayer funded non-yeshivas?
JosephParticipantYes in certain jurisdictions, depending how broadly they permit school choice. Some states (a small number) currently do fund Yeshiva tuition for the portion covering secular studies.
JosephParticipantHow would the girl find out he used to smoke years ago?
JosephParticipantWolf, have you kept the 95 pounds off since?
JosephParticipantHe usually disappears from here for many months after the Democrats get annihilated, before resurfacing from his bunker again. Happened in 2010 and now again in 2016.
After his party took a shellshacking in 2010 our esteemed Editor here created a special section for him:
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/forum/democratic-underground
As you’ll notice on the bottom of the CR’s main page, it’s subtitle is “Where Charliehall can post all the liberal news he wants!”
JosephParticipantDr. Charlie Hall, Professor at Yeshiva University’s Einstein school of medicine. And and a statistician.
JosephParticipantLB: You’re opposed to anyone drinking any alcohol until one reaches their mid-20s?
JosephParticipantWolf, aren’t you breaking the law by serving your 20 year old guests alcohol?
JosephParticipantLilmod, well stated par excellence.
JosephParticipantBecause I’ve donated them to a children’s charity.
JosephParticipantI don’t believe in wolves.
JosephParticipantWolf, if you have a 20 year olds guest on Shabbos, do you permit him to drink the wine for Kiddush?
February 28, 2017 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm in reply to: Coming to shul without a jacket for davening Shachris #1219717JosephParticipantYou can put the flap of the top of your shirt sleeve over your tefilin shel yad.
JosephParticipantIs that in Detroit or in Lakewood?
JosephParticipantI answered the same question when Avram asked it. Any President of any party.
I also don’t think Futurepotus meant all forms and instances.
JosephParticipantPerhaps women need to learn to accept the way things are spoken in the beis medrash.
JosephParticipantRav Shach was once asked why his child didn’t turn out to be a big talmid chochom. He answered that on Shabbos at the seuda he always has a sefer open and was learning, his mind deep in Torah. He said he had a chasidish neighbor he would always hear singing beutiful zemiros with his children at the Shabbos seuda. He said if he had done so as well his child too would have turned out to be someone great in Torah.
JosephParticipantWho denounced all forms and instances of being in the spotlight?
For the umpteenth time, the primarily issue here is being in a position that job description is to publicly challenge the President.
JosephParticipantAvram, a Yid being a member of the WH press corps, assigned to question the POTUS, is what I find particularly problematic. I don’t see a problem for a Yid to work in the White House for the President.
JosephParticipantI’d feel like I was in galus. So I’d daven for Moshiach so golus would end.
JosephParticipantBad comparison. Refusing to bow down to a getchke, even if that brings the spotlight, is the correct thing to do.
The point here is that Yidden should go *out of their way* to avoid a situation which can even mistakenly and unfairly result in a negative reaction among high officials towards Yidden. And being a member of the press corps questioning the leader of the free world certainly has the potential to trigger that, even unwittingly.
That a national leader would react unfairly should be taken into consideration beforehand.
JosephParticipantWolf’s second post here mentions which CC he’s referring to:
JosephParticipantBochor 2.0: Why, do you think, the other side has the right to know? Is the information relevant about your future marriage?
JosephParticipantTLIK: Who is talking about taking tzedakah for oneself. These bochorim are not collecting tzedakah for themselves. They are collecting tzedakah for *others* that need tzedakah.
That is inarguably a humongous mitzvah. And something every child would do well being mechanech on.
And the motive is primarily chinuch. I’ve seen many times kids and young adults collecting tzedakah for tzedakah worthy individuals and organizations *other* than their own yeshiva. When I was a child P’eylim came every year and gave out pushkas and booklets to all the children (aged 7 years old through beis medrash) in the yeshiva to collect tzedaka for them. And they raised large sums. And the money did not go to our Yeshiva, it went to Eretz HaKodesh. And it wasn’t on Purim time.
JosephParticipantYou may not disagree with him on your own accord.
