Yisroel is a very common Jewish name, with their English name usually Israel. If a gentile was named Israel I’d probably find it a bit surprising though nowhere as shocking as a gentile named Yehoshua Eliyahu.
A gentile named Joshua Elijah, though, would not be too surprising.
If I heard Yehoshua Eliyahu I almost couldn’t imagine him being anything other than a religious Jew. I’d be completely shocked if he were anything other than completely Jewish.

Reb Dovid’s published numerous seforim though I don’t know if there’s sh”ut printed from him.
He’s also a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah.
Reb Dovid is Rosh Yeshiva at Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim in Manhattan, just as Reb Moshe was.
Rav Elyashiv was both the godol hador and the posek hador.
Baruch Hashem Klal Yisroel has a good quantity of gedolei rabbonim and poskim.
Godol is a relative term; it means someone who stands out among his generation in greatness, which is measured in terms of Torah knowledge, and righteousness. There is no measurable threshold beyond which you are categorically a “godol”, like there is when a person gets a medical degree and becomes a “doctor.” Being that the term is relative, different people apply it to different levels for people, and even among those who are commonly referred to as Gedolim, they are not all the same. Rav Shach was a Godol, but he was not the Chazon Ish, for example.
The Tzitz Eliezer uses the term posek hador all over the place in his titles. The Teshuvos Maharshal writes it among the titles to the Ramah, or the Teshuvos Ramah about the Maharshal, I think.

Aren’t there shittas that Thanksgiving is muttar? (Even the shittas against is not because of the calendar; it’s because they determined Thanksgiving is based on religion, which is certainly inapplicable to Pi Day.)

Purim/Shushan Purim is based on where you physically are at the time. Not like one day/two day Yom Tov, which is based on where you normally live and not where you are for Yom Tov.
