JosephParticipant
Where does the Torah give a mitzvah to not do unhealthy things?
JosephParticipantDamaging one’s neshama and olam habaha is worse than damaging one’s body. If you’d do something about someone doing the latter, surely you should do something about someone doing the former.
JosephParticipantWould you ignore it if you saw you neighbor’s kid snorkeling drugs in a deserted area?
JosephParticipantIs someone else’s family and children not your responsibility if they start sneaking into McDonald’s when they think no one notices?
Kol Yisroel Areivem Zeh Lazeh
JosephParticipantYekke, that bug is related to the #2 bug I reported above.
JosephParticipantMazal Tov, LF!
JosephParticipantTznius and kosher are both halachas from Hashem that we are equally obligated to follow our Torah obligations on.
JosephParticipantIf a goy violates even a single of the sheva mitzvos, even once in his life, even if he violated it b’shogeg he is chayiv misa and goes to gehenom.
JosephParticipantTznius violators are similar to people who sell non-kosher food to the community as kosher. Both are machsil es harabim.
JosephParticipantYou can do about tznius violations the same thing you can do about kashrus violations.
JosephParticipantIf someone doesn’t keep kosher I’d expect them to not keep tznius. It typically goes hand-in-hand.
JosephParticipant“you cant legislate or intimidate yiras shamayim.”
And you can’t legislate eating kosher?
Halachas are, effectively, legislated. Thus, keeping kosher and keeping tznius is legislated.
JosephParticipantWhat kind of engineer?
JosephParticipant“The standards demanded by halacha dont apply exclusively to when there are men around.”
Many halachic requirements of tznius are only halachicly applicable where men are or might be, and aren’t applicable in areas exclusively occupied by women.
JosephParticipantMom’s right.
JosephParticipantThere are Chabad Malachim in Williamsburg.

JosephParticipantUp to 10 years older.
JosephParticipantBagel, lox and cream cheese is a very Chasidishe delicacy.
JosephParticipantThe upgrade broke many old threads
Some of the old threads were broken into many multiple threads with the same title with the posts weirdly separated.JosephParticipantWhat if after being refused service for a bagel, lox and cream cheese, the Sefardi sues for religious discrimination?
JosephParticipantWho said it’s a frum magazine (other than the publisher)?
JosephParticipantWhat happened to Kibud Av?
JosephParticipant… on Shabbos.
JosephParticipantThe title here sounded like this would be a sports thread.
JosephParticipantThe frummest yidden always toast.
I guess it all depends how frum you are.
JosephParticipantYou must give her rides. Otherwise the boy will realize you don’t do chesed and drop you like a hotcake.
JosephParticipantI can’t believe the OP made it past moderation and wasn’t deleted.
Untoasted bagel!?
JosephParticipantBeshow vs. Shidduch setup is the only debate as to which is the Jewish way.
JosephParticipantHanging out with him is the bigger aveira.
JosephParticipantIt is a problem for someone to not follow their fatherโs mesorah.
JosephParticipantMinhag Lita was around before the GRA.
JosephParticipantVi shteit that the Yekkesh mesorah is any older than any other Ashkenazic mesorah?
JosephParticipantThe people of Hong Kong wanted to remain under British jurisdiction rather than revert to Chinese jurisdiction, yet were not afforded that democratic option. Taiwan, everyone agrees including the Taiwanese, is a part of the same country Beijing is part of.
If dhimmi status would truly bring peace in the Holy Land, then by all means we should go for it.
JosephParticipantWhen will you kids be having your bas mitzvah?

JosephParticipantThere are many more Sephardim going to Ashkenazi yeshivos and adopting Ashkenazi minhagim than vice versa.

JosephParticipantTaiwan is not entitled to indefinite US protection. If we can broker a Nixonian pact with China whereby we drop support for Taiwan, thereby effectively forcing Taiwan to agree to a Hong Kong type jurisdiction of China, in exchange for China dropping support and embargoing to death the regime in North Korea, thusly potentially averting a nuclear catastrophic war costing literally millions of lives, it is well well with it.

JosephParticipantWhat about all the non-chasidim who became chasidish these days?
JosephParticipantTimestamps are now always in Eastern Time. (Since that’s where most Yidden in chutz live.)
March 19, 2017 7:45 pm at 7:45 pm in reply to: Split: Suggestions to Improve the New YWN Coffee Room #1238879JosephParticipantThe edit button now only appears after the post has been approved by a mod, whereas previously it was editable even before being approved. That change is also unfortunate and it would benefit to going back to being immediately editable, especially since if the mod approval comes after the edit window closes it will never be editable.
March 19, 2017 7:21 pm at 7:21 pm in reply to: Split: Suggestions to Improve the New YWN Coffee Room #1238852JosephParticipantExalted YWN CR programmers and keymasters:
Please lengthen the “edit” window to 60 or 120 minutes. (It’s been shortened to its default setting with the recent CR upgrade.)
JosephParticipantWelcome to the CR’s new frontier.
JosephParticipantAmerica via the President of the United States and his appointed officials.
JosephParticipantWho said your father has the right to “allow” you to change from your family mesorah?
JosephParticipantAs I said, usually they’re good decisions to have deleted. I’m speaking of the exceptions.
JosephParticipantiac, the mods don’t usually explain their deletion decision. Not that they’re usually wrong for deleting, I’m sure most are good decisions. But lightbrite is correct that often they delete due to it not being aligned with their personal viewpoint.
Also note it very well it’s likely most moderators are not guilty of that but there’s usually no way for posters to know who deleted.
That is 100% false. And it’s a joke to think you can speak about the motive and personal viewpoints of people you don’t know and have never met. Odd concept.
