JosephParticipantPost-MO Jew.
Post-Zionist.

April 29, 2017 11:22 pm at 11:22 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265512JosephParticipantYou don’t know what you’re talking about.
JosephParticipantYou need a long white beard to be Joseph. And always be seen in a Homburg hat.
April 29, 2017 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265472JosephParticipantThe doctor would be legally obligated to report the planned crime and the minister is probably legally obligated to report it to but he is certainly permitted to report it.
April 29, 2017 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265458JosephParticipantMentsch, The Noda B’Yehuda 1:35 (or Tenina O.C. #35) says the husband should be told.
April 28, 2017 5:56 pm at 5:56 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265388JosephParticipantIt would be the same if the husband is being fed treif while thinking it’s kosher. You wouldn’t tell him it’s treif food?
April 28, 2017 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265382JosephParticipantMentsch, the husband is doing an aveirah whether he’s aware or not. Awareness only determines whether he’s a shogeg or meizid. He must be told.
Btw, I addressed a comment to you in the “tochacha” thread.
April 28, 2017 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265384JosephParticipantCTL, no disagreement with that. That wasn’t my point. I was addressing halacha.

April 28, 2017 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265313JosephParticipantIf a wife told her Rabbi “in confidence” that for the last nine months she’s been purchasing treif meat from Costco and feeding it to her family without their knowledge.
The rabbi would be halachicly obligated to tell the husband.
In the case under discussion she did much worse than feeding treif. And the rabbi needed to tell the husband.
JosephParticipantCohesion, conformity and homogeneousness are more valuable.
April 28, 2017 12:17 pm at 12:17 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265249JosephParticipantSuppose the neighbor knew he discussed the incident but didn’t know particularly what he related.
April 28, 2017 12:05 pm at 12:05 pm in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265243JosephParticipantThe law doesn’t preclude the rabbi from choosing to disclose the information to anyone be chooses to relate it to.
April 28, 2017 11:54 am at 11:54 am in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265230JosephParticipantCTL, if a Catholic goes to the Confession booth and admits to having damaged his neighbors luxury car, the neighbor can successfully subpoena the priest to force him to reveal that conversation in either court or in a deposition?
JosephParticipantSure the FCC can find it. They can even find an individual using a Ham Radio without a license. And they do.
JosephParticipantYes, it is definitely mesira.
April 28, 2017 10:55 am at 10:55 am in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265167JosephParticipantIt was not the chief justice, as it only went to a lower court. And the judge didn’t say anything about Jewish law confidentiality.
JosephParticipantIt’s also statistically true that men have higher IQs than women.
JosephParticipantSo you’d rather die earlier if your friends and loved ones died younger?!?
JosephParticipantDoes the new CR software allow mods to merge threads? (I know you can now split threads.)
Yes
JosephParticipantAPY, ratting them out to the FCC is way worse than badmouthing them. Ratting them is mesira, which a person could be killed for (to stop him) whereas badmouthing is a l”h/ms”r issue.
April 28, 2017 10:37 am at 10:37 am in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265155JosephParticipantZD, that’s a different issue than the OP. Your case the rabbi *chose* to disclose the information he was told by her to another person. That’s legal. The OP asked if the rabbi can be *compelled* by court to disclose the information.
April 28, 2017 10:32 am at 10:32 am in reply to: Question about Confidentiality of Discussions with One’s Rabbi in American law #1265147JosephParticipantUS and State laws provide the SAME treatment of Rabbi-congregant conversations as it does to Priest-Catholic laymen conversations during confession.
JosephParticipantYinglish.
JosephParticipantעד מאה וחמישים שנה
JosephParticipantOther people argue that caring about the poor makes one a communist.
JosephParticipant130?
JosephParticipantI’d marry a Satmar guy off to a Brisker girl.
JosephParticipantI thought this place always has been a serious place.
JosephParticipantTrue. Ladino also contains elements of kedusha.
JosephParticipantYou mean may she live too 122.
JosephParticipant@mw13 That’s exactly why it was deleted! To shut up those protesting that kind of behavior.
Point proven.
JosephParticipantBecause the Brauns and Yidden and Bnei Torah and Ovdei Hashem whereas the Joneses are pruste shkutzim, baalei aveirah and regular Sunday avodei zorah worshippers.
JosephParticipantKJC didn’t offer any arguments; he just reprinted Rav Weissmandel’s presentation.
JosephParticipantThat’s the second time you said you wouldn’t respond, and then did respond.
You haven’t seen the evidence? Just search this coffee room. It’s been provided numerous times. Evidence the Zionist actively and openly sabatoged efforts to rescue Jewish lives. And even worse, evidence the Zionists sold Jews to the Nazi gas chambers. Line head Hungarian Zionist Rudolf Kastner and his deals with his friend Nazi Adolf Eichmann. Eichmann himself said he could not have killed so many Hungarian Jews without Kastner help.
And read some more. The American Reform Jews who also sabatoged European Jewry rescue efforts have been severely denounced as well.
JosephParticipantIt is the same answer as if she met the guy of her dreams but he turned out to be a shtickle flat-earther. Or a shtickle reform.
JosephParticipantMany threads got broken during the recent system upgrades.
April 27, 2017 11:44 am at 11:44 am in reply to: How are we supposed to add new topics now? #1264164JosephParticipantHomemade is a whole ‘nother subject!
JosephParticipant(1) There was no collective Nazi vote on genocide, either. Does that fact absolve most Nazis who didn’t vote for it from responsibility?
(2) Saving the lives of a ‘mere’ “few individuals” Jews is chopped liver?
(3) No one asked the Zionist for money. We only asked that they not stop others from savings Jews. Yet they actively interfered with saving European Jews.
(4) See (3).
April 27, 2017 11:19 am at 11:19 am in reply to: How are we supposed to add new topics now? #1264136JosephParticipantWe haven’t yet had a topic on homemade yogurts.
April 27, 2017 11:17 am at 11:17 am in reply to: Split: Suggestions to Improve the New YWN Coffee Room #1264134JosephParticipantNo disagreement about giving feedback. Just wanted to make the point about it being a WIP.
April 27, 2017 10:44 am at 10:44 am in reply to: Split: Suggestions to Improve the New YWN Coffee Room #1264078JosephParticipantObviously this is a work-in-progress, as evidenced by the fact that the recent upgrades have been rolled out over the last month and a half. Give it some more time.
JosephParticipantBeing that there’s only one or two such allegedly recorded cases, a worldwide sample size of two is highly insufficient to make that comment regarding gender and 120+.
JosephParticipantMazal Tov CTL & Mishpacha!
JosephParticipantWhat does being “religious” mean?
April 26, 2017 5:07 pm at 5:07 pm in reply to: The requirement for everyone to give Tochachah #1263416JosephParticipantmentsch1:
The Sefer Chinuch’s ruling to publicly embarrass someone who ignored the tochacha given them is obviously at the point where he already is a meizid, and no longer a shogeg, even before you embarrass him – since once you gave him the tochacha he’s aware his actions are sinful. Thus not embarrassing him will not prevent him from becoming a meizid.
JosephParticipantBtw, many countries prohibit its citizens from holding dual nationality. Including some other European nations.
Your quote inaccurately implied she proposed to specifically ban Israeli citizenship when she actually proposed prohibiting French citizens having citizenship in any country other than France.
JosephParticipantBad policies. Neither of which were proposed by its authors with the specific intent to target Jews though they do, obviously, affect them. Overall her policies, on balance, are Jews friendly.
But she wasn’t my candidate of choice, as I indicated in the other French Election thread.
