JosephParticipantPresident Trump’s visit to Israel is the earliest any President in U.S. history visited Israel in their presidency. Obama didn’t visit Israel altogether in his first term. Obama did visit Egypt within months of becoming president.
And Pres. Trump is the first sitting President in U.S. history to visit the Kosel in Yerushalayim.

JosephParticipantYou remember the story in the Gemora of the Amora in middle of shemone esrei when the king greeted him?
JosephParticipantGoyim eat meat for breakfast.
JosephParticipantMaking a loud brocha isn’t only for when there’s a Yid within earshot to say Amen.
JosephParticipantYou’re wrong. We certainly need to shelter our children from all the easily accessible trash from the street. They shouldn’t know much about mature material.
JosephParticipantIf it is a for profit entity we can generally eliminate it being tzedaka eligible. If it is non profit there’s a much stronger likelihood of it being tzedaka eligible.
JosephParticipantYes and Yes.

The Chazon Ish even said Tachanun even if there was a bris in his shul on you ha’atzmut, even though normally he wouldn’t when there’s a bris.

JosephParticipantHalachically, first cousins are permitted to marry each other, hence they have all the regular Dinei Rrvah and then some. Even HaEzer Siman chuf-beis states that relatives have the din of โLibo Gas Boโ, meaning there are some hateiri of Yichud that while applicable in most cases are not applicable for cousins, who have more restrictions than normal. Shulchan Aruch (E.H. 22:8) and the Aruch Hashulchan (E.H. 22:6) present examples of a man and a woman who grew up together or are related โ such as cousins.
JosephParticipantYes, the Chasidim and Litvaks wear their full Yiddushe levush to work, whether a black hat every day, shtreimal on chol hamoed, bekeshe/lange rekel every day, etc. and make their brochos normally without being embarrassed to do so.
JosephParticipantI’m not suggesting that you violate the rules of the library or wherever you are if they have a rule against loud talking. Then go outside and say you tefilos at your full kavana and loudness in public without being embarrassed.
JosephParticipantMany people hold by the Arizal and don’t shave or take haircuts for all 49 days of the Omer. Others hold otherwise and shave quicker than a full 49 days.
No one’s forcing anyone to marry their first cousin and no one’s stopping anyone from marrying their first cousin.
JosephParticipantThey author of that quote has a long history of saying things against the Torah.
JosephParticipantMarrying first cousins is very far from being uncommon in very many frum communities. Many great rabbonim, both today and yesteryear, are themselves married to their first cousin.
And the Sanhedrin when they were around, in fact, did stone for the crimes the Torah says to. And Teimanim, even today, have multiple wives.
JosephParticipantWhy should you be embarrassed to proudly and openly act like a Yid In public and wear your Judaism on your sleeve??
JosephParticipantYour mom’s incorrect about the English quoted being incorrect. Her suggestion is also correct and may have made the understanding easier, but the original post is linguistically correct as well.
May 21, 2017 12:44 pm at 12:44 pm in reply to: Why the husband is in the driver’s seat ๐คต๐ #1281389JosephParticipantDo you make things up on the fly or do you simply say things you don’t know what you’re talking about?
In Williamsburg, and to a bit lesser extent in Boro Park, you’ll rarely see local frum women ever driving.
JosephParticipantDo we still have any country boys around?
May 21, 2017 9:43 am at 9:43 am in reply to: Why the husband is in the driver’s seat ๐คต๐ #1281202JosephParticipantYour explanation of mom being in charge of tending to the children while dad’s in charge of getting things moving is reasonable.

May 21, 2017 12:46 am at 12:46 am in reply to: Why the husband is in the driver’s seat ๐คต๐ #1281145JosephParticipantNail polish?
JosephParticipantThat’s factually incorrect. The frum communities with the lowest marriage age averages also have the lowest divorce rates.
And very many Yidden have been happily and successfully marrying their first cousins from the time of Har Sinai through the current times of golus America.
JosephParticipantIn very religious Jewish circles the reality is that those who married youngest have some of the lowest divorce rates. Especially compared to those who married after completing a higher education.
JosephParticipantWhich in-laws?
JosephParticipantSome of the finest families I know are with parents who married by 18 or 19.
