Shulchan Aruch (Y.D. 240:17): Both men and women are equal in being required to honor and fear their parents. However, the woman does not have the ability to fulfill this Mitzvah because she is subservient to her husband. Therefore, she is exempt from the Mitzvah of honoring her father and mother while she is married. If she gets divorced or widowed she is obligated.

    Avram,

But the halacha is also that a wife must “honor her husband to an extreme degree and the fear of him should be on her and she should do all her deeds according to what he says and he should be in her eyes as a ruler or king. (Rambam Hilchos Ishus 15:20)

Considering that, how does your point still stand?

Welfare recipients aren’t highly motivated in actually voting. Reducing welfare doesn’t cause a net loss of votes. There are more non-entitlement recipients voting than entitlement recipients.

Health insurance doesn’t cost $40,000, even if purchased by the consumer directly. Family health insurance costs the same whether it’s a two parent family with one child or a two parent family with ten children.

Everything you said in your most recent comment as well as in your first comment is riddled with inaccuracies and fabrications attributing things to the Gedolei Yisroel zt’l that are complete fictions.

Meanwhile Satmar is 250,000 Bnei and Bas Torah strong and growing rapidly, spread out across Eretz Yisroel, the US, Canada, Australia, England, Belgium and elsewhere, whereas the MO even in America are now down to about only a quarter of Orthodox American Jews whereas a few decades ago they were a majority of the American Orthodox.

    Divrei Yoel, Behaloscha (page 304):

Would you even imagine that there would be empty headed fools that while they call themselves religious but the smell of heresy wafts from their mouths and they fool the whole world with their announcements about miracles [during the Six Day War] โ€“ Gโ€‘d save us. If in fact these were miracles it would have been much worse. That is because there is bitter retribution to the Jewish people when G-d does miracles from the aspect of evil as the Maharal mentioned before stated. However in truth there were no miracles here at all [concerning the Six Day War]. It was simply a natural occurrence as can readily be seen from the discussions in the newspapers that it was assumed that [Israel] would be victorious. I have already stated that I am fearful โ€“ Gโ€‘d forbid โ€“ for the time when actual miracles are done for them. If at this time when in truth there were no miracles and yet this great evil befell them, then surely if there had been miracles done for them that it would have brought about severe suffering as we mentioned above. From this we see the extreme degree of their cruelty and evil. That even though it was reasonable that [Israel] was going to win the war, nevertheless the Jewish people were in great danger. Nevertheless they placed the Jewish people in this danger for the sake of their glory and for the sake of their governing. Because it was obvious to those with understanding that [Israel] had the ability to completely prevent the war. There were a number of alternatives and circumstances regarding preventing the war, but this is not the place to go into detail. Nevertheless someone who has eyes will see that there is no doubt about this. In fact it was the filth of heresy that blinded their eyes and made them act in an irresponsible and irrational manner…

    Ahl HaGeula vโ€™ahl HaTemura #86:

It is one of the kindnesses of Gโ€‘d that He hasnโ€™t tested us with tests that are so severe because there have not yet been open miracles. All their publicity and stories about their miracles are only false illusions that blind the eyes. Satan has been satisfied with that which the religious Jews who are attracted to Zionism have described as miracles. This has been enough to blind the eyes of a generation as weak and lowly generation as ours. However I am still afraid of what will happen in the future. I hope that it wonโ€™t come to this and that we wonโ€™t be tested from Heaven with different and powerful testsโ€ฆ In general a person needs to know that he should not be excited and impressed with any miracle or sign and wonder or success of the wicked or their ilk. That is because all of them are only tests from Satanโ€ฆ

Conservatives/Republicans do not advocate eliminating entitlement benefits/safety net programs. The only debate is over what is the appropriate level of benefits.

Is whoever proposes the highest amount correct? Absurd.

POTUS is NOT proposing to eliminate Medicaid, Food Stamps and welfare. He’s proposing to change the benefit levels to an amount below the current spending.

Who said the current benefits amount is most ideal? If previous administrations raised the benefits to higher amounts, no future Congress can every lower it? That’s absurd.

Winnie “Elsewhere on these boards people have pretty much come to the conclusion that tochacha can only be given if the person knows that his words will be heard and not do more damage. On an anonymous fourm when one does not know the poster or how he will take tochacha, can one give tochacha? ”

The Halacha is the opposite. One must give tochacha unless he’s sure he’ll be ignored and the sinner will continue sinning. If he’s unsure how it’ll be taken, he must give tochacha.

Rav Avigdor Miller on Passing By the Entrance to Gehenim in Your Own Kitchen:

    Q:
I learned a ื’ืžืจื that says that in ื™ืจื•ืฉืœื™ื there is an entrance that leads into ื’ื™ื”ื ื (Eiruvin 19a). What does that mean? Isn’t ื’ื™ื”ื ื in some sort of spiritual world – somewhere not in this physical world?

    A:
When the ื’ืžืจื says that near ื™ืจื•ืฉืœื™ื there was a place that was called the ืคืชื—ื” ืฉืœ ื’ื™ื”ื ื – the entrance way into Gehenom – it means that when you pass by any place where smoke issues from the earth, make sure not to waste that opportunity. Utilize it as a reminder of ื’ื™ื”ื ื. The truth is, that the smoke, and the hole where that smoke is being generated in the bowel of the earth, is not even the slightest comparison to ื’ื™ื”ื ื. No comparison at all! ื’ื™ื”ื ื is a thousand times worse. But we have to train ourselves. We have to think about it. Just because ื’ื™ื”ื ื is not in this world, that’s exactly why you need to create for yourself artificial reminders about ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Otherwise, it won’t mean anything to you. It’s very important to think of ื’ื™ื”ื ื.

Where is Hitler right now if not in ื’ื™ื”ื ื? Otherwise, you’ll think that Hitler could do what he did and then take a poison that’s flavored and leave this world to escape punishment? No! He’s getting it right now! ื‘ืืžื•ื ื” ืฉืœื™ืžื” you have to know that there is ื’ื™ื”ื ื. But how do you train yourself? You have to train yourself to believe in ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Without putting effort into it, it will just remain a pale idea in your mind. If you ever pass a fissure in the earth and smoke is coming out of it, then think, “That’s ื’ื™ื”ื ื.” It’s an important opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.

Any opportunity of that kind should be utilized. The ื’ืžืจื says that ืืฉ, fire, is one-sixtieth of ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Here’s a woman and she’s standing in her kitchen and she accidently puts her finger on the hot tea kettle – wooh! It hurts! It hurts terribly! She burns her finger and she should think, “Oh, that’s a gift. The gift of ื“ืขืช ื”ืณ.” It’s an opportunity that shouldn’t be wasted. “That’s how ื’ื™ื”ื ื is going to be,” she should think. “For speaking ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืจืข on the telephone, I’m going to have to put my tongue on that pot. Not my finger. My tongue! And it’ll be stuck to the tea kettle and I won’t be able to pull it off. I’ll have to put my tongue against the tea kettle and it will be stuck there a long time. Oh, ow! Ow! Ow! I’m so sorry.” And Hashem will say, “Just a few more hours – a few more hours.”

So ืืฉ is a ืžืฉืœ for ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Of course, the ืืฉ of ื’ื™ื”ื ื is not only sixty times worse than the fire. It’s much worse than that. Sixty times is only a ืžืฉืœ. And we need ืžืฉืœื™ื for ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Absolutely, we need ืžืฉืœื™ื for ื’ื™ื”ื ื! We have to remind ourselves. No question about it. ื’ื™ื”ื ื is very big. And it’s full of ืจืฉืขื™ื. All the people who have done evil are there. Titus is in ื’ื”ื™ื ื right now. And all the ืจืฉืขื™ื. Nebuchadnezzar is in ื’ื™ื”ื ื. All of the ืจืฉืขื™ื are in ื’ื™ื”ื ื. Of course, ื”ืžืŸ is an old citizen there too. All the Germans and the German people. Not only six million Germans. There will be eighty million Germans in ื’ื™ื”ื ื. All eighty million who voted for Hitler. They all will be in ื’ื”ื™ื ื. Most of them are already there, ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ืณ. Trust me, ื’ื™ื”ื ื is very big. There’s enough room for all the ืจืฉืขื™ื. You have to believe ื‘ืืžื•ื ื” ืฉืœื™ืžื” that there’s a ื’ื™ื”ื ื. A very big ื’ื™ื”ื ื. It’s just as important as believing in ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื. You have to know what you’re saying when you say ื”ื ืฉื ืฉื•ืคื˜ ื”ืืจืฅ ื”ืฉื‘ ื’ืžื•ืœ ืขืœ ื’ืื™ื. “When is Hashem elevated? Only when you know that he turns back recompense on the wicked, arrogant ones – the ืจืฉืขื™ื.” When you truly understand that there’s a recompense on the ืจืฉืขื™ื, then you have ืืžื•ื ื” in ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื. And that’s why you must take advantage of any opportunity. And that’s what the ื’ืžืจื means when it says that as you pass by a fissure in the earth’s surface and smoke is coming out, make sure to think of ื’ื™ื”ื ื.
