I 2nd DAf HaChaim. their intro and review are really good.

    re: getting lost,

I found that learning the daf on my own to be very hard. For me, knowing that my chavrusa was learning it with me made it more worthwhile and, frankly doable. Since we both have an obligation to each other to finish the daf, we try our best. And with hashem’s help, we succeed!

In all seriousness, I find this story very hard to believe. There’s something missing here. I hope.

Just let others trample on your rights. And don’t stand up to them because…….

I believe that confiscation is the best way to deal with it.

    according to this thread,

your a man. just to put that out there.

and your saying that your parents took your wife over you.

    just saying.

and btw, writing this “Mr. Boteach is a disgusting human being” is, as you’ve so eloquently put it, “a violation of the “Coffee Room” Rules.

But, that doesn’t seem to bother you too much, hmmm?

    PuhLease-

To slander MY community, that this happens “all the time” is says a lot of your thinking.

Getting back to the issue at hand,

And to that I call your bluff.

What is true is that when mothers go “off” and try to bring their children down with them, the community will try to stop you. And will do their best to prevent this from happening.

Not out of hearted toward women, because of the love for the children.

    I don’t believe you.

    1) this mom’s life spun out on control, in part BECAUSE she has no interest in being frum.

    2) the reason why I don’t believe you, is because I cant believe you would tell us that, like this BUM you too, have no interest in being a frum woman.

    3) If you really chose not to be frum, than why would you assume that the frum community would help/support you?

    4) assuming im right, and your frum, I can’t believe that your family including your OWN FATHER would agree with your ex over you.

    Health,

First of all, yes, I do believe there’s chochma by the goyim.

That said, there are fundamental differences between us and them about what marriage really is about. We get married for different reasons than they do. We STAY married, sometimes, even when its not going so well, for much different reasons. (I’m not talking about in cases of abuse c”v).

Bringing children into the world and raising a family is our primary reason for getting married. Their primary reason is self-fulfillment (psychologically very selfish).

    Big difference.

avhaben ‘s correct about the training. Unless the therapists has a ruv on speed dial, there’s little reason to assume that he IS equipped to give advice on a Jewish marriage.

    Re: asking a ruv,

obviously, if the ruv feels he can’t handle the situation, he should pass it on to someone who does. I can’t believe that a ruv of a community would be unable to help, at least to refer the problem.

chazal told us when’s the best time to get married. Why would you consider what the goy does as a reference to what’s right? A lot of them don’t get married at all.

Any way you look at it, the earlier the better.

if i may jump in here..

there are many different reasons why children go otd.

ultimately, the reason why any of us here is “on” the “d” is because his/her own choices. Parenting takes us only so far. There are many other influences a person faces and is exposed to besides the parents.
