thanx e/o for your advice. is the first shift harder or the last before shabbos? and how much coffee did you drink to stay awake.

    rescue37, how did you prepare?

takahmamash, the last course of my program is the pathways to practice/capstone course-culmination course of e/t we learned.

golden mom, thats the part i’m most annoyed about cuz its most likely going to happen-my shifts are tuesday and wed night. the upside is its only for a few weeks (now. may end up on nights when i start working)

neck bones, 50/50 beans and barley, plus a few lentils. generous heaps of garlic, onion powder, paprika, S&P, squirt of ketchup and some soy sauce. if there is no soy sauce, its just not as good!

i’m in the same boat as you-same size and wide width. right now i have a pair of calvin klein’s that are amazingly comfortable. i found me too shoes to have good arch support and heel cushion. if you are going to be standing all day, try a pair of stylish sneakers (NOT an oxymoron). try the ones that have elastic tops and not laces-they look more like a shoe

i really like dr scholl’s athletic insoles-firm arch support but gel cushion for the heel and ball-of-foot. those plus my new balance sneakers let me stand for hours straight

for some odd reason, payless shoes work for me and many times look exactly the same as more expensive brands

gmail has this new feature (new to me cuz i just found it)

i had to send a doc to someone. so i filled in the subject, then typed in the email “attached is…” but forgot about attaching the doc.i pressed send and up popped “you typed in the email body “attached is” but not document attached. proceed with sending?” with a choice yes or no. saved me the embarrassment of having to send the email over

i thought that was pretty shticky

    hiya shlump

i play air piano ALL the time. drives ppl crazy!!! i do it basically any time i’m listening to music (alone)

i took piano lessons for about a year by someone who wanted me to play classical-ie strictly by notes and i had no interest so i left. my basis of music is notes-and all the fancy lingo it comes with. after i left i played by ear.

basically, i taught myself to play by ear. i do use a book i got when i had lessons that i use for finding the minor keys and for the cadences.

until i started nursing school, i practiced alot. i havent touched a keyboard other than for typing since winter break 🙁

when i did play by ear i either first figured out the melody, then figured out the cords to go along. when i knew the cord order cold, i wrote it down-baruch hagever looked like this “C Am F G …” after that i would experiment with arpeggios along with cords or arpeggios with melody, would it work with a rhythm and cords etc.

if i found sheet music online, most of the work was done. i would play around with the cords till i found the sound i liked more.

this is (was) my technique but i think there are others in the CR who are more musically inclined than i am

“they” say 4 inches below the knee is sufficient. but it changes from person to person AND dif styles of skirts. straight skirt need to be drop longer, flary can sometimes be a drop shorter. taller people need longer skirts as well.

best bet, try on the skirt, sit, stand, and walk up stairs to see if its long enough

i have credits from FDU that i got during HS. when i was applying to school, i had fdu send over my transcripts and course descriptions, which they did for all my courses except for 1 course. i called them a few times but they never sent it. i gave up and realized i would have to take the course over. after registering in my current school to take that course, i got smart. i went online to the fdu website, got the description myself and gave it to the admin, who accepted it and i did not have to take the course again.

i’m not the only one who has had issues with them sending transcripts and stuff. family friend did not get into the master’s program she wanted because fdu never sent over an official transcript like they were supposed to.

    be careful

i think you are referring to the shidduch resume.

its like what writersoul said- your name, your age, schools you went to, camps optional, what your parents do, your shul and some references. mines 1 paper long. 1 shadchan asked for a pic but had my father send it over asking her not to send it out, it is for her reference only.

i did not put a paragraph of what i’m looking for. the ppl who have my resume either know me well or asked me what i want. kinda hard to put it down in words that e/o will get it

so today i was in an in-patient hemo-dialysis unit. very interesting place. there were 7 bays, each with a dialysis machine. each machine is abt 4 1/2 tall, 2 feet wide by 2 feet length. patients came in and were hooked up to this machine for 2-4 hrs at a time to filter the blood of waste products and stuff generated by the body.

this large machine is doing the job of the kidneys. each kidney is abt as large as a regular computer mouse. and if CH”V they fail, these patients are dependent on these machines instead.

its amazing how technology is getting smaller and smaller yet they have not found a smaller solution.

its even more amazing how 2 relatively small organs can have such a large impact on the health of a person

i find all this very inspiring so i felt i had to share it

    Hi health

And if the mouse came that close I would kick it. Screaming won’t solve the problem.

And pain I mentioned above? I get that every month. I could either stay in bed or I can get over it. Life doesn’t stop because I’m doubled over in pain. Does it take me a little longer to get stuff done and am I more quiet? Yes because my mental energy is elsewhere. But I have school and house duties that must be done. And besides, I’d rather be in pain but distracted than home in bed focused on a pain that’s not going anywhere for a couple of days.

I still think it’s unfair to say one sex is more tolerant. Isn’t it lookEd down upon for men to show emotions and perhaps men just hide pain better? Women express feelings alittle more easily. Would it be fair to say asians have less pain because they are more stoic and are taught showing pain is a negative? It’s all in how the person tolerates pain, not based on gender

    PBA,

thats the limitation of using a pain scale. each person experiences pain differently. the way it works is tell the patient “on a scale of 0-10, 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain you have ever experienced in your life, how would you rate your pain at this moment?” when using it for myself, an 8/10 means im in bed, curled in a ball (or the position that is least painful) crying in pain. (does not usually progress that far as i take motrin before it gets that bad. B”H it does not reach that level often)

    does this answer your question?

    butting in.

re kidney stones, my prof who had them say they are worse than labor. but her husband barely had any pain when he had them

re bugs, mice, etc, BIG DEAL. I’ve had to deal with mice stuck on mouse traps, went to camp in the mts for 8 years and had to deal with bugs, frogs, and all other lovely stuff up there. the prob is fixed but last winter i was on my bed when i saw a mouse run from 1 corner to the other. and no i didn’t shreak bloody murder. i went and got a mouse trap along the wall. oh and I’ve dissected dead animals. good times 🙂

re pain, personally, to be out of commission, the pain has to be higher than a 8 out of 10 for me to declare defeat. and I’ve had pain where 800 mg Motrin every 6 hours only brought the pain down to a 4/10.and i have to keep going on with my day. then again i have friends who stay in bed for pain 3/10. each woman is different in how they react to pain so its not fair to say 1 sex is more tolerant of pain than the other
