We have it but I don’t have the time today to write a summary. just one point I have to say. Celiac disease (CD) is lifelong. the body is reacting to gluten and that is what causes the signs and symptoms. if one refrains from eating gluten and maintains a STRICT gluten free diet, the small intestine can heal and the symptoms will go away. Its like diabetes. a person can control it with medications and diet but there is no “cure”. the article is misleading; the rest of the article looked accurate but I did not read it with a fine toothed comb.

justsmile613, nope. I’ve heard a few houses going/on sale and those are the numbers i heard. the 200-350K houses are in passaic or in clifton near the cemetery or the other side of main near 21? I doubt those are the houses by The Circle/park area

Health, Thats Toms River, not Passaic. If you have a problem with the P/C water, don’t drink it.

Health “I just had a gut feeling that you would question me on this -I don’t know why.

First of all, what does Brooklyn have to do with this?

Second of all, I know s/o who died from CA there at a young age – <40 and it could have been from the drinking water.

When I was a Bochur there – they said – Not to drink the water. “

brooklyn because you can’t drink the water from brooklyn secondary to the bugs you can’t see

and second of all, if thats the reasoning, don’t drink the water in any part of the world because unfortunately young people get CA too.

and when you were a bachur here i’m sure is a long time ago. things DO change over time. my family drinks the water, my neighbors drink the water. my friend who lives across town drinks the water. if the water is running brown b/c of water main work, then we don’t drink the water but on a normal day we drink the water (after running it for 30 seconds to clear the line)

@zyzz,Abercrombie models wear shorts thus you would not know if they train the thigh muscles.

(sorry for the long post and plz don’t take anything personally)

it would bother me because it is not my priority in life to have a pretty guf. in order to have as you say “the most aesthetically pleasing shape possible by developing all muscles proportionally” it requires rigorous training and dedication. it becomes one’s focus and priority in life. between physically training, the preparation (diet, sleep etc) and eventual competition, much time is spent on looking perfect. there is nothing wrong with being in shape or playing a game of hoops everyday between sedarim or after work. I am looking for a husband who’s priority is to serve H’ and provide for his family as well (a working guy) bluntly, it bothers me because it seems like misplaced priorities to me. the guf is a vessel to serve H’. and just like a car needs maintenance to run properly, the body needs food, exercise, periodic ‘tune-ups’. a car can be a pimped out mustang with chrome wheels, megawatt speakers and V8 engine or it can be a basic Toyota Camry. both are cars but one is for function, the other is not. just because I don’t have a six pack or highly defined biceps, does not mean I can’t carry 40lbs easily or hold down a screaming 5 year old. it is not a prerequisite of being in shape to have defined muscles. if a person is in shape and healthy, B”H.

I do have to add that I do not like the look of Arnold at his prime or other professional body builders who serve their bodies rather than the other way around

@zyzz, do you mean bodybuilder like Arnold Schwarzenegger or an ambercrombie model? 2 very different builds. personally, I want s/o who can wear flat-front pants but is not shaped like a stick/pencil, ie someone well built. some girls don’t care about the fitness level; I do. I want s/o who can play a game of ball and works out. I respect my guf, I want a husband who does as well.

That being said, yes it would bother me to hear a guy wants to/will compete in a bodybuilding competition. if it was in the past and is no longer a focus/priority in his life it is another story.

there is the yeshiva K’tana system-Preschool, girls elementary, boys elementary and girls HS. Mesivta of passiac (i think thats the name), a yeshiva g’dola. mesivta of clifton. Yeshivat Bait Hillel. Cheder (Montessori type school; boys and girls classes)

and Brooklyn lacks SPACE. in Passaic we are not shoved on top of each other. we don’t have to fight for parking spaces except Thurs night and Friday.

the best part is that we are not Brooklyn but if we need to get there, we can get there. its the best of both worlds

Health, and do pray tell why I can’t drink the tap water. obviously, my family did not get the memo that we had water imported from brklyn

Iced, cuz we have trees, grass, backyards and we actually know our neighbors. I think prices of houses range from 400-500K upwards. also depends where you look. by the park its more expensive; Clifton/other side of main I believe is cheaper.

Passaic has a mix of types here and its a slower pace. I grew up here so for me its where I live; I don’t know the reason ppl move here specifically over other places

yes you can. Lincoln, Holland, GWB. Goethals and varrezano to brkln/farrack. you MAY not want to drive there but you CAN drive there.

mass transit is also a pain and can be expensive but less of a headache than driving to the city everyday. plenty of men and woman from passaic/clifton take the train to work

and the spanish are in downtown, not passiac proper, also known as passaic park

I went into control panel today and deleted some programs I don’t use. I really want to get rid of those toolbars that always crash. I tried deleting one but it kept saying “close all chrome windows to continue” but I had no browsers open!

so far FF has crashed once today (like it went Kablu-ee with out warning), froze a few times too and chrome froze once but then was alright. Now I’m on FF b/c I was doing school work. If I refrain from using shockwave or flash FF is faster. I think its FF itself b/c chrome never slowed my computer like this.

I’d love to get rid of those minute detail programs but I don’t know what they do or not do so I will leave those around for no

    Thanks!

I’m also going to install those 100+ updates (MS word, PP, excel, Windows updates etc) my computer wants me to install and then do a defrag as well.

there are 3 things i’ve figured out will slow down any of my browsers (and computer)

    1-mcafee runs a scan

    2-the lord and taylor website

3-when I need it to work

I’ve been thinking of doing a disk defrag.

right now i’m on chrome and now its working fine after its ‘warm-up’. What I like about chrome is that if a page is dead, it lets you kill that page only and get back to work. and when it crashes, it crashes without messing up your computer like FF

I’m not gonna use FF today even though I have school work. I’ll just do it on chrome cuz FF is not worth the headache today

FF froze @ 1201. finally able to close it 1211. opened chrome @ 1215. chrome finally launched at 1220 and now my shockwave player is slow.

and FF likes to freeze and wreak havoc on my laptop a couple times a day

    any ideas? I’m desperate

Shopping-sorry I was out then doing school work so I just saw your post.

thanks for the lyrics. Beth was there from at least year 5-I think she wrote that song in year 5. the version I remember is a little different but very similar. now the question is do you know the mosquito spoof?

and they were singing the shabbos song in year 6 and it was well known then too so its an older one

1 is be quiet, dont start a riot

2 is OD, how good can you be

3 is ruach singing and cheering

4 is kavana in your davening

5 is on time and thats the rhyme

be quiet, ____, ____, be on time and sing!

the mincha song is also nice, IMHO nicer than the shacharis song

BYgirl, the still sing ‘freed from the shadows?’ or are you referring the the night activity song and mincha song?

shopping613, do you have the lyrics to this song? I only remember the end. (do they still sing this at the end of each night activity?

“so take each other by the hand and sing along with me

although we’re from all over, we are one family

created and united, each girl plays a part

Raninu I will cherish you-deep inside my heart”

and if you’re old enough, do you have the words to this song? it was the theme of the play one year and I only have the refrain from the end

“I’m finding my way, i’m finding myself

there is so much more to learn

I look at my face, and I see a girl

    smiling in return

Each one of us has our very own path

a life that we must lead

I no longer need to fill bigger shoes, in order to fee complete

    High:

freed from the shadows hear my call

i’m being the best that i can be

now others cannot make me feel small

    I’m finally happy being me”

    thanx!!

Odyssey. even w/ its quarks it was a good drive. I’m biased towards foreign made cars b/c that’s what my parents get so that’s what I drive too

If I had to choose, I’d choose the Odyssey engine but the caravan body. I’m not a fan of the new Odyssey. I prefer the looks of the previous model or even the one before that (pre2012 or pre2004)

as BB said, once you get the hang of making 6 braid challos, it is easy. I used to make 4’s and 6’s when we made bigger challos but now since we don’t eat as much challah, we make smaller ones and its harder to do 4’s and 6’s with smaller challos. so we make 3’s.

and the plus side to that is my 5 year old sister can help get ready for shabbos. we make the ropes, pinch them together and then she braids them. it keeps her busy and out of the way

sorry OOM but i’m a chromie. can’t change that.

I disabled an add on that was slowing it down and now its doing better. for some reason it freezes when I close tabs which is very annoying. also, the address bar search function uses yahoo!. I hacked into about:config to change it to google.com but the setting wont stay. tried it 2x but reverted to yahoo both times

and there is a lag time between switching tabs that chrome didn’t have. WHY can’t my schools get programs that run on ALL browsers and not just the lousy ones?

I live around the corner from a shul. one shabbos I was walking home with my almost 5 year old sister. we passed a few married men/couples/girls walking and they said good shabbos. As we passed the shul, a group of boys/young men were leaving the shul and just as we passed them, my sister said (innocently and loudly of course cuz she can) “how come they didn’t say good shabbos?” B”H these boys saved me from answering her and a few called GS over their shoulders

Most yeshiva boys I pass move over to the grass so they don’t have the CH”V walk on the same sidewalk as a girl. seriously? I don’t have cooties ya know. but the fathers I see walking w/ their children do say GS. I was a B’nos counselor for 4 years and saw ALOT of fathers w/ kids

I went to a Shadchan and s/he had a preprinted card. this is basically what the card had:

    name

    hebrew name

    parents’ hebrew names

    school(s)

    learning or koveah itim

    hat-yes or no

    rekkel-yes or no

    payos-yes or no

    tzitzis in or out

    beard-yes or no

    height-how tall min.?

    smoking-yes or no

    sephardi-yes or no

    chassidish-yes or no

    divorced-yes or no

    parents divorced-yes or no

    BT-yes or no

i got SO annoyed at this shadchan for asking such SILLY questions! for 80% of the questions, I said “as long as he looks like a mensch” or “I never really thought about it because it is not really important (said this when he asked about height. as long as he is taller that me i’m happy)

I was not impressed w/ this system. so many of the questions seemed superficial to me and not really important. then again, if he is asking these questions, other people must be asking him/her those questions when s/he redts a shidduch.

I checked in a number of places and have not found that much. I did find that the joint pain is probably caused by high levels of the isotretinoin in the blood. Isotretinoin is a derivitive of Vit A; Vit A toxicity can cause among other things, joint pain. none of the articles I found had a treatment for the pain

Have you spoken to your doctor about this joint pain? has he (not the dermatologist) recommended going to specialists or such for the pain?

    I’m sorry I can’t offer more help.

in reply to: bina article on acne and letters to ed in response #886539

the joint pain is not caused by “drying up the oil”. accutane works to shrink the sebaceous glands and reduces the amount of sebum on the skin and with less sebum, the bacteria that can cause acne cannot thrive. accutane also effects hair follicles that they do not get clogged with dead skin cells. because there is less sebum, the skin is drier. plain and simple. the fix? use moisturizer and chapstick. also make sure you are drinking enough fluids.

I am trying to find the reason why joint pain develops for some but have not found a scientific reason. still looking

goq and toi, don’t worry, you’re not missing much

1st timer, I took accutane and my dermatologist warned me of the side effects. dry skin, depression, elevated triglyceride levels, risk for birth defects CH”V. I haven’t seen or heard accutane pushed on people either. my derm only recommended it because nothing else had worked and even then we were skeptical it would work because it hadn’t worked for my mother when she took it. B”H it did work and it also worked for my sister who finished it a few months ago. I was told the success rate is 2/3. its not a wonder drug nor should it be taken lightly. it’s a last resort med for severe acne, not 5 pimples.
