bumping this up
B”H I finished another semester but i have 2 1/2 weeks till my next one. any ideas how to:
1) celebrate my fantastic grades (2 A-‘s)
and
2) how to keep my brain from turning to mush in the interim? i feel my brain slowly dissolving……
ANY IDEAS oh smart people of the CR?
TIA!!!!!
yentingyentaParticipantBSD: i could not of said it better. i had to watch the movie for psych and its a mechaya to see that it is possible to overcome mental illness (even if its just a movie)
may you have much mazal in finding your zivug, bimheira biyomeinu!
yentingyentaParticipantcaninc: thanx for the clarificaion. but the thing that he should walk diagonally behind was from my HS halacha teacher (yes, HE is a rabbi)
yentingyentaParticipantspeaking of awkward situations, i go to college and we have a few frum men in the program. one day last week i reached to doors 2 seconds before one of the man, so i held the door for him. BUT NO!!!!!!! chas v’shaloim he should walk through a door held by a single girl. needless to say the elevator ride up was really awkward and he bolted the second the doors opened
i learned in HS that the only problem is a man/woman walking behind the opposite gender, and that walking diagonally behind is OK. is this true or not?
yentingyentaParticipantwhy arent you in school????
yentingyentaParticipanttry these websites: shalsheles.com, eligerstner.com (includes the chevra and YBC,) yehuda.org
these sites have free sheet music.
anotableidea.com has some sample music sheets as well as songs that you can buy
journey’s has a songbook thats about 30$, i think you can get it from mostlymusic.com

yentingyentaParticipantage of Bas Mitzvah
yentingyentaParticipantstuffed: I WISH but my next semester starts on monday @ 8am.
CAD: i’m a GIRL. meat is SO not a way to celebrate anything……
yentingyentaParticipantebay. i bought mine there and was very pleased. but be warned. it takes a long time to find a good one.
yentingyentaParticipanti’ve had the same with my ipod touch and my gmail. did u try going into your settings to mail, contact, calendar settings. try re-entering your passcode for the account . usually works for me
hatzlach!!!!
yentingyentaParticipantjust to add my 2 cents…..
if a guy wants a supermodel, or a girl wants a handsome prince, maybe he/she should take a step back and see if the chitzonius is so important? isn’t it the inside of the girl/boy that counts? the girl/boy doesn’t have to be beautiful to the entire world!!! its just the spouse that has to be attracted to his/her wife/husband!!
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER!!

HUDI: just be a little distant, give a slight cold shoulder. and hopefully they will get the hint.
hatzlacha!
yentingyentaParticipantmy new addiction!! been listening/watching it all day!!!!
yentingyentaParticipantthe last time i was beat red?? that would be the last time i got emb!!!

ATM machine
yentingyentaParticipantI use it daily and it’s much better than the subway.
yentingyentaParticipantROTFL-rolling on the floor laughing
i thought it was universal, but then i sent it to someone and they were like “huh?”
yentingyentaParticipanttums: i know someone who txts a guy. 1, he’s older, 2 he’s married, 3, they talk “shop” (they are both in the medical field)
so there ARE exceptions to every rule
but in general, i agree, girls should not be txting boys
and i probably just got myself in major trouble in the CR
yentingyentaParticipantI’m a teen (but almost not) and i can say, txting is addicting. even txting friends and whatever, its very easy to exchange 100 txts a day, and thats just with one person!! B”H for unlimited txting plans.
as long as the txts are appropriate, not containing L”H, or inappropriate exchanges between girls and boys, why not? if it were not for txting, i would have NO social life.
the one negative thing that i got from txting is that e/t gets abbreviated. there’s not enough room in the message to write it out whole.
yentingyentaParticipantwhy wouldn’t it catch on? i’m in nursing school now, and there are frum men in my classes. the numbers of men is no where near the number of frum girls, but that could change over the next year or two
yentingyentaParticipantno. would never marry a smoker. my sister is asthmatic, and my father would “kill” me for marrying a smoker
yentingyentaParticipantmy father was Totti, until my baby sister learned to speak. then he became “daddy”. so now he’s Dad, Daddy and Totti.
yentingyentaParticipantisrali sems are sending responses now? i thought they are sending out the letters next week…..
yentingyentaParticipantwhat about “knock on wood”
I’ve heard that this expression is a refence to the wood that ‘j’ was supposedly nailed up on. So – definitely not to be said. -Moderator
yentingyentaParticipantLOL! i didnt even realize my mistake
yentingyentaParticipants2012: i agree. try another theme
yentingyentaParticipant18 is was a great year for me. so great in fact, i refused to turn 19 and didnt tell anyone when my birthday was. now 20 on the other hand……. not sure if i want THAT one just yet.
and early happy birthday!
yentingyentaParticipantyummy, what i was saying was a person can be wearing clothes that are 100 percent tznius, but the image might not be the best to choose. its a sensitivity in the area of tznius. not everyone has it.
but, then again, you are right that words attract attention and SS over LS does not. its really comes down to the image that you want to display. i do agree that the style seems to say i want to wear it but its not tznius so i’ll ‘fix’ it, but then why dont jumpers, and short dresses with a pencil skirt fall under the same question
yentingyentaParticipanti think its more of a sensitivity. long sleeves are 100% kosher. its just when a person wears it with long sleeve, its a different look. personally, i don’t wear it, but my younger sisters do. the camps are looking for a certain image, and the short sleeves over long sleeves is not part of that image. i think it falls into the same category as wearing words across the front of one’s chest. people wear it, but is it part of the image of a bas yisroel
yentingyentaParticipantif its a women, i always say good shabbos/morning. only if a guy says it first, or i know the person (ie, relative or family friend) then i do answer.
yentingyentaParticipantThanx!!
yentingyentaParticipantcan i have one too? 🙂
yentingyentaParticipanttheGOq: cuz they are extremely chapped
yentingyentaParticipantthanx for the tip. i’ll (try to) remember to add it to my nightly routine of slathering on gold bond to my bleeding hands
yentingyentaParticipanti don’t b’dafka try to taste it, but eating and drinking doesn’t help
yentingyentaParticipantya, but carmex tastes better than Vasaline
yentingyentaParticipantone’s medicated. the other is not. carmex is very good, but i think nuetregena noerwegain formula can be used on the lips as well.
yentingyentaParticipanttry clinique superbalanced makeup. it costs a bit much but I’ve been using it for a few years and never had a breakout from it like other bases.
yentingyentaParticipanti think its the girls themselves who have a bias to their hair and think men like it straight. personally i like curly hair but my hair is that frizzy mess in between straight and curly so i do iron it. but many of my friends have curly hair, and leave it curly with mousse and gel. girls! if you have curly hair, leave it curly! its part of your personality!
yentingyentaParticipanthave you tried putting base on the eyelids? that usually works for me
yentingyentaParticipantthanx for the advice! i always feel funny saying hi though. guess it’s the BY-er in me
yentingyentaParticipantits a nursing school (yes! there are male nursing students).
yentingyentaParticipantadding to this question: how friendly do you have to be to classmates of the opposite gender?
yentingyentaParticipantchayav: and then there are teenagers who specifically use these words in front of their parents just to confuse them!
(and then said parents roll their eyes in a “amusement”)
yentingyentaParticipantas long as it doesnt ruin my commute to NYC, i have no problem with the snow. the cold and the slush on the streets after the snow is a whole different story
yentingyentaParticipantannie sez has panniz skirts for good prices
