I usually ask the mrs of the house what she prefers. it’s wuick and simple, plus it saves her time if she needs it done.

nechomah, i don’t think you started this. your last post is eloquently written and well explained.

health, i’m going to do a little experiment. i’m going to tell you the same thing but in 2 ways.

1-YOU MISSED THE BOAT!!!!!!!!!!! how can you possibly have not understood what i was trying to tell you. you know what your problem is? oh you do? good because i dont. but i know part of your problem. you read each post and then nitpick on each peice thereby missing the grand scheme of things. and what the heck do you mean that you say demeaning things on purpose? isnt there a thing called not hurting other’s feelings? you do know the first few times you insulted me i did take it personally. but then i realized you have something against the female gender so not so insulted anymore

2-health, i think you missed the point i was trying to make. it could be its my fault for this; i may not have said it clearly. personally i think it may be because the way you take some of the posts apart and comment on specific points rather than see it as a whole post. i’m still alittle confused as what you meant when you said “Sometimes they are meant to and sometimes not. But it’s all for good reason”. i don’t know when it is a good reason to insult others. one last note, i used to be very sensitive but over this year i have gained something i never really had, and thats self esteem. but thats from nursing school, not from growing a thick skin.

k now since you read both, which post would YOU rather have. you are free to choose.

(the point of this was just to show you there are 2 ways of saying basically the same thing. it just depends on how it is said)

just one last point, is this phenomena of women waiting found in all communities? i asked this previously but no one had an answer.

i think this has gone far enough. have i had bruised feelings from health? yes i have. but i have learned not to take it personally. i don’t know what happened between health and nechomah, RB, Avrom, and the.nurse but i think its end of civil conversation. can we please stop the name calling, people bashing and insulting?

health, i ask you please not to take what i am about to say too personally. sometimes your posts come across as harsh and demeaning, even if you did not mean it that way. a simple suggestion, after writing a post, reread it and see if it will be read by others as a harsh post or a post that will enhance the thread and the topic at hand.

to everyone else, maybe its also partly our fault. next time we read a post that seems negative, perhaps a second read with out adding a mental tone of voice to the post may be beneficial. IY”H i’m going to try to do this as well.

lets try and end this argument on a better note and not let it spiral out of control.

what if you already wrote your answer when you saw it? that change it? and in this theoretical question, why was the person looking at the neighbor’s paper. personally, (when i wore glasses) i removed my glasses. my eyesight is pretty bad even 1 seat over. just an extra shmira.

i’ve always appreciated nature and biology and the miracle of how the body functins but nursing school has raised that appreciation so many times over, mostly because i have learned to value health and well being. and just as a side note, the fact that B”H so many woman have healthy and whole children is such a nais, to me its a open miracle. (i’m at the end of my OB-peds rotation. unfortunately there was a lot to learn). 2cents, i totally agree with you about the med (my case nursing) books

i don’t get what all the hype is about. whats wrong if a man/guy/gentleman/male/dude decides to wear a non white shirt? is it (lehavdil) like a girl dressed in something other than funeral attire? are people really judging our sisters and brothers based on EXTERNAL factors? my father decided to go all ‘proper’ when i got to the end of seminary. knitted yarmulke became velvet. navy pinstripe suit became nearly plain black. the hat that needed to be replaced got a really wide brim. and the blue shirts he used to wear stayed in the closet. UNTIL he told me he thought it would get me a better shidduch. and you know what i told him? dress how he used to because the man i marry isnt that shallow. my point is although i agree a ‘uniform’ like police, fire, ems, nurses, doctors, engeneers, etc define who they are to the outside world, does donning a uniform make you that person? does wearing a white shirt make you more frum then the person who wears a non white shirt? clothes can denote a persons place but to what degree?

*and whats gonna happen when a boy who used to wear a white shirt suddenly goes to work and decides to wear (GASP) a light blue shirt? did he suddenly become not frum?* (the comment in the ** is sarcastic)

can some one PLEASE explain to me the importance of bashing groups of frumme yidden based on clothes that can be changed in about 30 seconds or less?

    i apologize for the rant.

health,”Then Hatzolah would have as many deliveries as other EMS – next to none!”

just FYI, i know a frum EMT who works 911. ya right they get next to none. in a shift and a half, he was called to 9 (!) deliveries. yes i said 9. one set of twins IIRC. after the 9th his chief/head of ems in his area sent him and his partner home. he got off the rest of the week, his partner the end of the shift b/c it was only her third or something. (note, this was in BP).

and if you live in a frum area there is a chance a frum man will show up when you call 911. no givens.

and there is such a thing as precocious labor. not everyone has a few hour warning when to go to the hospital

optimus prime and pascha bchochma, ya its a strong point to say they are accommodating to jews, i have 2 things to say

1, B”H (bli ayin hara) my nursing school has actually a) made its schedule to accommodate frum people and b) will give additional test days if it does not work to change it for the entire class. (granted we make up about 20% of the school so its worth it). friends in other colleges have told me they go the prof and most of the time they will do make up days or ways to make up lost lectures

2, i know s/o in touro and told me they have to accommodate both jewish and secular holidays. that’s lots of lost days. granted this is in the nursing program. not sure how many goyim are in the regular touro but in the nursing program there are quite a few.

soliek, i carry a ipod touch AND basic phone every where b/c i need apps for school. wasnt gonna upgrade a new phone if i could spend 100 (bought used) one time instead of 50 per month. its a shlepp but its better for battery life b/c its not my phone i’m using, its my ipod. plus if the ipod dies i’m not stranded

    2 things

first of all, haven’t we been there done that on this topic already?

second of all, i’ve met a few ppl in the med field including emt’s. emt’s who do it as a profession (ie 8 or 12 hour shifts) spend the time in a metal box with their partner. now i know hatzolah members don’t do that, the woman would be in VERY close proximity to the men if the men do the driving 1/2. just one example.

and third of all (yes i know i can’t add) if this was really a good and shayach idea wouldn’t the hatzolah boards in dif cities have already asked their rabbanim if this was appropriate etc? i feel like ppl are paskenin s/t rabbanim have already decided

from when i was in 12 grade (about 17-18) there were certain families i told my parents i would not go to because they had boys my age there and slightly older. atleast 2x we were invited i had ‘other plans’. both times i went to close friends, one of which also had bachrim. so whats the dif? the first family has boys not so yeshivish and i didnt feel comfortable near them. by contrast my friend’s brothers i knew would ignore me as i would ignore them. problem solved.

(since then i have grown up and i have gone to this family when the sons are there. they have become self absorbed and thus, ignore me.)

so to say its families that do it, it might be the daughter with a sensitivity

i heard mr. rosenthal speak when i was in sem (in america). he was speaking to the local HS so we were invited. he speeches are frightening (i think he gave the edited version per request of the schools hanhala b/c there were 9th graders there). my elementary school here where i live made it mandatory for at least 1 parent to attend a lecture by him a few years ago. people need to know to be careful and the only way to know what to be cautious of is to be informed. the person who doesn’t know what is out there will not know what to do if he is ignorant of the dangers.

i was thinking substantial idea as one that the media/govt sees and likes. one that has the potential to work for the economy. and when i said a group making noise, i meant it in a negative way even it IS what the group is in essence.

and the new image of OWS, not really surprised. i think its common for peaceful groups to attract unruly people which then escalates to violence. it is unfortunate that it happened here too that what started as a meeting place for reform now has a picture of violence attached to it.

based on the reports i read this morning, they seem to be losing media support. guliani said he would of closed them down from day 1, and IIRC wasnt a councilman or s/o arrested there? and even their plan to cripple wall street with tens of thousands of protesters and block the bridge and disrupt subways….. didnt work. how many ppl showed up for the protest? if they come up with an idea that is workable, it might help them regain some positive media coverage.

as a side note, besides ron paul, any other politicians support them?

HHHHMmmmm good question CA. i’ve been busy all week (clinicals, test lecture etc) but from what i’ve scanned is the raid kinda backfired in that it incited those in the group more inclined to violence. i have to read the newest reports out there to get a better picture. but my opinion is still kinda the same: a bunch of ppl trying to change the world by making noise (literally) yet they have not given any substantial ideas.

    anyone else?

Soliek: I have to agree with goq. I don’t know what OWS holds on violence, but there has been reports of violence in the park. Attacking an FDNY EMT is not exactly a peaceful action. It’s not exacly the safest place to be at night if you are planning on going motzie shabbos.

Also, I just looked on the ywn home page. Top report was a raid on the park. One thing that stood out was a line that said something like the protest has deteriorated from a peaceful protest to a backdrop for crime and violence. Curious to see what comes out of this if the whole occupy movement will continue as is or will change direction. Is this the first time OWS in the city was kicked off the park?

Although the numbers seem like alot, would this tax system be across the board and not on a tiered system (isn’t that what what the system is now?) OWS is fighting economic unfairness right? does that include all the tax breaks the “1%” get? but I totally get what your saying about the taxes. It seems like the taxes would be separate entaties of state and federal which would Only increase the taxes we are already paying.

What are the ideas of OWS and the other candidates regarding the economy?

And btw soliek your doing a great job explaining. Thanx
