this is an easy way we make soups

2 soup mix packets-ie manishvitz soup mixes

    onions, chopped

any vegis you want-sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots, celery etc. cut into small chunks

put e/t in a large pot with room to spare. bring to a boil and then simmer for awhile till all beans/lentils/barley/vegis are cooked.

    also freezes well

    liquid gold chicken soup

make your chicken soup as usual, but leave on the stove from Thursday night till Friday morning. skim off all floaties in the morning. we usually leave out the zucchinis and sweet potatoes, then reboil the soup for an hour before shabbos and add them in then

    easy onion soup

a few large onions-Spanish or Texas sweet are best

cut in either chunks or slices, depending how you like it. saute in oil until tender. it may take a while depending how many onions you used. add water (for more oniony soup add less water. for more soup and less onion, add more water)

boil for a bit then add salt, pepper, garlic powder, tamari, soy sauce, onion soup mix, or what ever spice you like. simmer until the onions are soft and limp. spice as needed

serve piping hot with shredded cheese and garlic bread. can be frozen

i have fb. or sefer panim as my friend calls it. i got it when i started NS. besides family, its classmates from school, a friends MIL (she wanted to show me pics), and some friends from camp/hs…

i am very careful about security and privacy. if a ‘friend’ has a number of posts i don’t like, i hide their comments or unfriend them. did it to a few. and you don’t have to answer every request.if you set it right, a person doing a search cannot find you. only friends of friends can find me via search.

i use it mostly to see how my friends in MS are doing. i’m in (was) in OB. so when they comment abt a pt, etc we can do some catching up. funny pics, comments from class, commiserating together, its a way to relax and know your all in the same boat together. i might post the fruedian (sp?) slip the teacher made, a pic of my younger sister. do i do s/t and think “this is going on FB later”? no i don’t. i have a life outside my computer. (even if that life is taken up by nursing school)

i dont get why people look at one thing and say its a write off.

life has grey areas, its not just black and white. it depends how you use it

popa, how can i take practice tests? if i was talking about the N-CLEX or ATI, then i can take practice questions. but these are exams made up by the professors. i wish they told us what to focus on….. all they say is STUDY E/T 🙁

my friend’s brother got engaged recently to a girl his older sister’s age, about a 3 year difference in age. if you feel the guy should be older, date that way. if you feel it can go either way, date that way. i don’t really understand why age is such an issue. and if a guy looks/seems like a perfect fit, is age the reason to say no?

personally, being that i’m very low 20’s, i’m gonna be hard pressed to find s/o younger than myself.

your post just brought back SO many memories. my dad had a restaurant for 10 years. can’t say how many times he would have customers buy a full meal, then at the end say x was too hot, y was too spicy etc. and then expect not to pay/refund/coupon… if you don’t like the food, STOP EATING! if you eat the meal then complain, you’re a shnurrer plain and simple. and just FYI, the managers/proprietors/waiters all know what you did.

sorry. don’t know the halacha though.

oy ski i feel horrible for you! how could she say that about you? doesnt this person have any tact? and how is telling someone else going to “help” you? it wasn’t like she suggested a way to fix it or whatever. sounds like pure gossip to me

and there is such a thing as judging someone to the other direction. just because i dress refined and more yeshivish than the rest of my family DOES NOT mean i want to marry a learning boy. before you call to suggest, find out what type i want so you don’t sound like a fool

(sorry for the last part. its drives me up the wall when my father tells me he had to say no right off the bat because the person couldn’t ask one simple question prior to calling)

health, there’s a few reasons i wrote what i wrote

1-its not my patient. if it was, i’d be telling her not to drink

2-these doctors obviously have more experience than me

3-i’m not even an RN yet. i don’t have an opinion, only when i’m on clinicals. so PERSONALLY, if you listen to your doctor thats fine with me

oneofmany, if their doctors OK it, thats fine by me. the problem with school is they have to teach you ‘the books’ and not what’s done in real life.

oneofmany, if its ok to drink in moderation why do my profs tell us NO alcohol during pregnancy?

(copied from pubmed health)” When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, it easily passes across the placenta to the fetus. Because of this, drinking alcohol can harm the baby’s development.

A pregnant woman who drinks any amount of alcohol is at risk for having a child with fetal alcohol syndrome. No “safe” level of alcohol use during pregnancy has been established. Larger amounts of alcohol appear to increase the problems……

Timing of alcohol use during pregnancy is also important. Alcohol use appears to be the most harmful during the first 3 months of pregnancy However, drinking alcohol any time during pregnancy can be harmful”

DH, interesting. didn’t look from that perspective. on the men’s side i was trying to say the color of the shirt doesn’t define the man, not that he has to wear all colors. on the other side of the mechitza, there is no reason not to wear color. B”H there are many colors that are tznius and appropriate to wear. i wasnt really touching on the ‘have to see it to appreciate it’ part in regards to infrared and xray. i’ve been to many houses were there IS color on the walls, carpet, paintings etc but the females of the house dress in black. there seems to be a divide between color itself and wearing color. i’m not saying a women can’t wear black but is it really necessary to dress so depressing? wear a colored shirt/sweater, wear colorful shoes, a headband.

    solike, lol. i missed that

syag, could totally be. but who said thats true?

jothar, its not in my father’s mishna berura either.

half, i prefer staying out of the box in this instance. i own 2 black sweaters, both of which i wear with a grey skirt.

    i love coffe, your welcome.
