    Q. Did Yaackov actually split them into two groups? It was supposed to be part of the plan but we don’t see it ever carried out?

    PARSHAS VAYISHLACH:

Why did Yackov bow “7” times to Eisav? What is the significance of the number 7?

I once heard an amazing explanation: ???? has the numerical value of 182, which is 7 X 26 (????). This corresponds to seven levels of ????? he had. ???? has the numerical value of 208, which is 8 X 26. When he gave the ?????, he gave over 7 levels of ????? to Yackov (whatever that means), keeping one for himself. ??? came in and asked for ONE BROCHO – getting the remaining level which ???? originally intended on keeping for himself. Therefore – ??? is 376, which is 50 (???) X 7 [350], + 26 (1 X ????).

When ??? came to kill ????, ???? bowed 7 times, using his 7 powers of ????? to fight ???s 7 powers of ????, leaving ??? with only 1 level of ?????. [According to the ??? that ???s intentions when he hugged ???? were not pure, you have to say that his plan didn’t work]

(I might have heard this ??? the ???? ????, but I am not sure)

Yekke, your last post is obviously the basic answer, especially since we can say that in Chutz La’aretz he didn’t do Kedushin, as the Ramban writes regarding all other Mitzvos.

I am not sure if you understood what i wrote fully; I don’t think i explained myself correctly.

Kiddushin is a Chiddush Hatorah – i don’t mean they didn’t KEEP that law, i mean that Kiddushin before Har Sinai doesn’t work (The Rambam says that before Matan Torah there was Nissuin only and no Kiddushin; Kiddushin can only happen after Matan Torah) – therefore the Avos were not going against the Torah at all by not doing Kiddushin

At risk of sounding cliched, we must daven and do teshuva — And remember the words of the Meshech Chochma — before the war, he announced that the pattern of history is always whenever Klal Yisroel get to familiar with the goyim and feel too comfortable in Golus — He says ‘when Yidden think that Berlin is Yerushalayim…’ – Then the goyim suddenly get up and massacre us.

Here is a problem of people thinking that Jerusalem is Yerushalayim — when people believe that we are good with a Jewish state, and don’t need the geula, then Hashem sends us a message.

We must remember that we are in Golus and daven and hope for the Geula – ????? ?????? ???.

    A) What is philosophical about the question?

    B) Can somebody explain the ????? here? I fail to understand why it shouldn’t be a noise?

    C)

Da mah Lehashiv L’apikores means that (even though you shouldn’t say k’fira) you should be able to disprove it. That means you may listen to it to legitimately disprove it. Therefore, censoring statements isn’t the solution. Truth is. Saying “No Kfira” isn’t productive.

I used to argue with missionaries a lot, and one of my Rebbes said: “Da mah lehashiv lapikores” is FOR YOU that you should know what to answer – it never says ‘ANSWER THE APIKORES’. If an Apikores comes to YOU and asks you something, you should have the answer in your heart so that you are not influenced.

    D) ???? we can bring a ???? from ??? ???? ?”? – the Gemara is differentiating between when half a ????? is before the ??? ????, and when half the ????? took place in a cave [where those outside are not ????] – the ???? says ??? ??? ???? ????? ????? ??????? ???? — It is a place of ???? for those inside the cave .

Why does the ???? have to say ‘for those inside the cave’? That isn’t the point we are coming to answer; the point is that it is a ????? ?? ????, whereas before the Time of the ???? it isn’t a ????? ?? ????? (I think one of the ??????? asks the question)

According to this question, maybe we can answer: It is only a ???? ???? if somebody is there; if nobody is there, then it isn’t ‘HEARING THE SHOFAR’!!!

The Mechitza – Why How and When Part 7

    Mixed Seating at Weddings

When men and women are seated together at a wedding the poskim say that the beracha of simcha b’miono is not recited at the sheva berochos because there is no simcha if men and women are sitting mixed.(38) The Levush (39) says if men and women see each other then no simcha b’miono is recited, but today since women are out on the streets more than in previous years we are not concerned that one will have thoughts about women. Many poskim say that the heter of the Levush does not apply in our day and age, since many women do not dress according to the way they are supposed to making people more susceptible to think about them. (40) Although years ago mixed seating may have been something which many people (even chareidim) did, this may not be done today and a mechitza should be made at every wedding.(41) Today, since the kallah is the only one brought into the men’s section at a wedding during sheva berochos, the beracha of simcha b’miono is recited. (42)

    At a Chupah

Some poskim say that one should have a mechitza between men and women by a chupah.(43) Other poskim say the path separating the men and women (red carpet) is enough of a separation in this regard. The minhag seems to be like this second opinion.(44) Many Chassidim make the chupah outside; when the chupah is outside no mechitza is required. (45) (At a badeken and during the Smorgasbord a mechitza should be made, but it is not the custom). (46)

A bochur once went to R’ Elya Lopian zt”l, asking him if for permission to miss Yeshiva and go to a wedding. It turned out that the wedding was mixed. The bochur said to R’ Elya: “I’ll sit on the side with a Sefer, and I won’t be ????”.

Being a Yekke, unlike most other sects of Judaism, entails being born a Yekke. Other sects include transforming, changing ????? and deciding to do what you want. Not Yekkes.

Actually, that is true with all sectors of Judaism. Nothing unique to Yekkes.

Not Chassidim – I’m afraid if that would be true, Chassidus wouldn’t exist – isn’t it a modern invention – like within the last 300 years?

And what does being Yekke entail?

Being a Yekke, unlike most other sects of Judaism, entails being born a Yekke. Other sects include transforming, changing ????? and deciding to do what you want. Not Yekkes.

Yekkes, as indicated above, are those of German descent. They have different minhagim, some of which include each adult male making his own kiddush at the Shabbos table, woman lighting only 2 candles – no adding more for children, boys wearing a tallis after Bar Mitzvah, waiting only 3 hours after meat until eating milk.

I am a Yekke, am related to many Yekkes, and affiliated with dozens of Yekkes, and I have yet to see a Yekkishe family where each adult male makes his own kiddush. I have heard of Chassidim doing that, but i have never seen a Yekke doing it.

    Candles – Correct.

I wore a Tallis from when i was about nine – most yekkes wear a tallis already before their bar mitzvah. In my family, we start when we start going to Shul for Shacharis.

woman lighting only 2 candles – no adding more for children, …… Becuase candles based on Zochor veShomor, hence only 2 candles required; However Jekkes add something much more significant for their children, that Jekkes Bensch their children thrice each week, by Friday nite Kiddush, Shabbos morning Kiddush, and by Havdoloh (Of-course also by all Kiddush & Havdoloh on Yom Tov too); Benshing their children includes father, mother & grandparents benshing children & grandchildren, and and Benshing spouses of children & grandchildren.

My parents only bentch us once – Friday night. I haven’t heard of being bentched thrice. By the way, my Litvishe grandfather (maternal) also bentches us weekly, although it could be because he married a yekke.

    They are a small community.

You can thank Mr Hitler for that.

The Minhag started in Frankfurt where the children would make a train by putting their arms on each other’s shoulder and march around the shul singing Adon Olam, which is very beautiful.

A friend of mine was going into a ?????, and an angry American stormed out of the room.

“Don’t go in there, he’s crazy!!” Said the American.

    “Why?”

“I asked him for a blessing to have children, and he said ‘Bugger off, Bugger off, bugger off!'”

“No, no,” MY friend said: “He meant ?????, ?????, ?????!!!!”
