Practice, practice, practice and you’ll get up to speed.
yaakov doeParticipantThe few boys that I know who went there turned out well. I’ve never heard anything negative about it.
yaakov doeParticipantWho determines who is an askan? Is it a self determined position?
yaakov doeParticipantThere are quite a few frum Yiddin that give millions anually, but unlike Bloomberg and Adelson they live quiet lives in the community and shun publicity.
yaakov doeParticipantAlmost everyone older is busy working.
yaakov doeParticipantVitch vay?
yaakov doeParticipantChildbirth and daily sunrise are from the Creator.
yaakov doeParticipantWhy would anyone want to? What’s wrong with drinking the same wines our parents and grandparents drank?
yaakov doeParticipantTablet K is without question very questionable. The original rav hamachsir was nifter a few years ago and I doubt it got better. There have always been those that question the Triangle K and those who accept it. The are enough solid hechsarim around that it’s easy to avoid the questionable ones.
June 13, 2013 8:58 pm at 8:58 pm in reply to: What do they do once they buy your miles/points? #959544yaakov doeParticipantThe points are sold to travel agents who use them on first class tickets enabling them to reduce the passengers cost and increase their own profits.
yaakov doeParticipantNoach and Yisro and Rachav to name a few.
yaakov doeParticipantI don’t understand why they would have their own minyon. As long as they restrain their yetzer horahs why can’t they daven in regular shuls? I know of no shul that questions whether a person is “gay”?
yaakov doeParticipantDo these WOW wear tallis and tefillin daily in the privacy of their homes, or only at the Kosel for all to see?
yaakov doeParticipantjewishfeminist02 – Shouldn’t these women of the wall at least dress appropriatly when they’re at the Kosel? In the photos there seems to be a lack of tznius. Assumuning the women wearing talasim are married, isn’t it more important to cover their hair as per halacha than to wear a talis for which they are not obligated?
yaakov doeParticipantI happen to know one of the Brooklyn women behind WOW and can attest to the fact that these women have their own religion and their own agenda. She has a daughter who is a “rabbi” and wears tefillin. I find it odd that they choose to do mitzvos that they are not obligated to observe, yet ignore those which are obligatory.
yaakov doeParticipantStaten Island
yaakov doeParticipantShocking that any woman would think think of tatooing her eyes in the name of beauty, regardless of whether it’s halachically permitted.
June 10, 2013 5:19 pm at 5:19 pm in reply to: How can I get an evil Iranian deported from America? #957960yaakov doeParticipantIf it’s a Jewish Iranian ask your Rav. If not and he or she is not a citizen, have them commit a felony and when convicted they’ll be deported

yaakov doeParticipantrc – Kids from that school have logged many miles in the air, generally going to warm destinations every year during “Yeshiva week” and many have been to Eretz Yisroel more than once. It’s not the rules they were unaware of, it’s that large groups of kids tend to get rowdy and boiterous.
yaakov doeParticipantNot surprising that a large group of kids on a trip would act rowdy. For those of you not familiar with the school it is very modern, mostly sfardic and the boys would only be recognizable as being Jewish by their kipahs.
The students probably are not aware that any misbehavior refects badly upon all Yiddin and is a Chillul Hashem.
yaakov doeParticipantI believe that it’s even worse than taking during kedusha. Unfortunatly it’s a common practive in many shuls and one could assume that the 18 year old learned this bad habit from his elders. I would assume that once he’s made away of the severity of the avairah he’ll stop.
yaakov doeParticipantGo to Torahcafe.com or Torahanytime.com for interesting videos, some entertaing as well as informative. Thousands of hours of shiurim and presentations including Rabbi Peysach Krohn, Rabbi Lau, Rabbi Label Lam at your fingertips with a mouse.
yaakov doeParticipantRe: Helmets. They are ignoring them just to get as many of these bikes on the road as possible to annoy motorists as Commissioner Sadik Kahn desires.
yaakov doeParticipantWhen he files the plans with DOB he’ll be denied because of the shared driveway.
yaakov doeParticipantTwo of the Women off the Wall mentioned in a recent magazine article come from a Brooklyn womens prayer group that has been around for about 30 years with little if any growth or acceptance by the larger community. They might be good people, but off the wall perhaps.
May 30, 2013 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm in reply to: Thoughts on Someone Selling His Olam Habah on Ebay #971241yaakov doeParticipantThe portion of genhenim from the poet is priced much lower than the pulled listing for the Olam Habah. Is that because gehenim is only for a brief time and the market drives the price?
yaakov doeParticipantLooking at the NYS Dept of Education website, I don’t even see a “biology” regents exam only a “Living Environment” exam
yaakov doeParticipantHalfagirl – You’re the kind of girl I admire. Maybe you should lecture at womans groups and at Bais Yaakovs. Too much emphasis on superficiality in our community.
May 29, 2013 1:49 am at 1:49 am in reply to: Thoughts on Someone Selling His Olam Habah on Ebay #971221yaakov doeParticipantIf we don’t know who the Ebay seller is, how do we know what kind of share he has in Olam Habah? Does Paypal or Ebay guarantee it? Can I resell it if I win?
yaakov doeParticipantWIY – It’s supposed to have the opposite effect of a burka, but doesn’t always.
yaakov doeParticipantThe Yekkes should send shlichim into the larger Jewish community to spread the concepts of timliness and decorum to the other Yiddin. The are the best!
yaakov doeParticipantAren’t you worried that the founding father of Verplank take to to a Bais Din for taking his name?
yaakov doeParticipantFor a frum family Shabbos shoes are a necessity not a luxury. Do you expect kids to wear sneakers to shul on Shabbos?
yaakov doeParticipantThis warning is a hoax from many years ago that resurfaces from time to time.
yaakov doeParticipantOutside of NYC no one would think of such a thing since parking is much different.
If drivers don’t signal when turning corners, why would you think that they would signal when parking?
A don’t have a problem, I just signal and backup and let the guy on my tail worry about getting hit!
yaakov doeParticipantHow do I know if I sound like a Harry?
yaakov doeParticipantEOM I’ve only seen them try and read Hamodia in the street boxes. I get to newspapers delivered daily – not tabloids – and with the exception of Yiddin opening them on Shabbos to look at the sports scores, I’ve never seen Yiddin stare at the papers.
yaakov doeParticipantI agree that the Jewish Press is the place to look. That’s all that paper is good for.
There is a Yahoo group Flatbush shuls. You can join the group and post a want ad.
yaakov doeParticipantI have K9 and I have never had a problem using Ebay. I made no changes to the K9 download as far as I can remember.
yaakov doeParticipantIt’s under the leadership of Avi Weiss. His male clergy aren’t able to get jobs in mainstream orthodox shuls, nor join the RCA.

May 8, 2013 2:18 am at 2:18 am in reply to: Sewer and Drain Cleaning Companies in Borough Park (Need Referral) #951611yaakov doeParticipantMr Jakubovics, Clear it Drain Cleaning 718-998-3968
A frum man in Flatbush, but will certainly go to BP.
yaakov doeParticipantCould this be the pirate radio station broadcasting from Boro Park?
yaakov doeParticipantNobody knows who I really am, guaranteed.
yaakov doeParticipantDelicious shmura and 4 kosos for Pesach Shani after a long wait.
yaakov doeParticipantMany of the telephone solicitors tell me that I gave a certain amount in the past and ask that I repeat the contribution. The problem is that I never heard of that organization before and never gave them any contribution. I give regularly to a couple dozen tzdakas that I know although I receive solicitations from over 150 different ones during a year.
I assume that the telephone solicitors, who call us several times a week get a percentage of the supposed pledged amount.
yaakov doeParticipantPopa – Sounds like a great club. How do I join?
