If they wash them and they are clean – what’s the problem. I know people who wash real dishes and never get the grease off
yaakov doeParticipantWhat are you doing about shiva? Where does your husband want the burial to be?
yaakov doeParticipantWhat do you expect from an ignorant child?
April 15, 2013 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm in reply to: Good major in college for a bais yaakov girl #1008492yaakov doeParticipantShiduchim towards an Mrs. degree
April 12, 2013 2:50 pm at 2:50 pm in reply to: How to tell the Shadchan that the girl's too heavy #946244yaakov doeParticipantUntil you see for youself what’s “heavy”, how can you say no? There a huge difference between a few pounds over and obese.
yaakov doeParticipantI’m surprised not to see Chinka among the suggestions.
April 10, 2013 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm in reply to: Who's going to be wearing blue and white tomorrow? #943844yaakov doeParticipantBlue and white on the tzitzis.

yaakov doeParticipantI’ve often heard than women park by touch.
yaakov doeParticipantI’ll ask the first golem that I see. Will let you know what he says.
yaakov doeParticipantShticky Guy – There is a long mesorah of Moishe Rabanu waering a shtreimal with documented pictures going back over 45 years. I’ve only seen the picture from Har Sinai, never from krias Yam Suf. I assume that Yisro bought it for him at the time of the chassanah.
yaakov doeParticipantHe’s a genius, but doesn’t want anyone to know. Meanwhile he’s living like royalty and has the attention of the world media.
yaakov doeParticipantI learned that it’s a mitzvah d’rabonnim to eat Pizza motzei Pesach and to make the brocha ” Al achilas pizza”. I understand that there are some that don’t accept this mitzvah upon themselves.
yaakov doeParticipantAnd I thought that my family was the onlyone that blow torched braces and false teeth erev Pesach!
yaakov doeParticipantThe spoon and feather come in the mail every year around Purim along with a candle and an envelope for a contribution.
yaakov doeParticipantReb Doniel – Whioch one of the annonymous coffee room, poskim do you hold by?
March 19, 2013 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm in reply to: 200,000,000 Spent Yearly by Patrons on Pesach Hotel Programs #938958yaakov doeParticipantI doubt that $200,000,000 is spent on Pesach programs. Landaus shul gave out $200,000 last year for Pesach and at the appeal; after each minyon they say there is more need. I have not heard that they are unable to raise the same amount as last lear. I occaisonally catch a minyon there, but gave for their Moas Chittim as well as my local shul.
yaakov doeParticipantOne of the Israeli silver manufacturers has a line of “silver dipped”. ZJudging by the price and reputation of the company it has to a better quality than the cheap Chinese silverplate and one would assume that if cared for properly will look good your years.
March 12, 2013 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936426yaakov doeParticipantI suggest that you look in the Jewish Press where there are usually ads for telemarketing for tzdakas and basement apartment shares. If you’re in Brooklyn you may benefit from the programs and community at Ohr Nava.
Everything is very excpensive in NYC so don’t be shocked.
yaakov doeParticipantI’ll see that they give you the hour back after thev summer
March 10, 2013 1:59 am at 1:59 am in reply to: 50 Y.O. Women Grocery Shopping In 3" Heeled Pumps On A Slushy Thursday Night? #938891yaakov doeParticipantFor the upscale frum woman (or wanna be) shopping at
Pomegranate is a simcha so she should dress accordingly. At KRM they don’t feel the need to dress up, oly to dress with tznius and at Moisha’s the Sefardic women dress as Sefardic women do.
The level of tznius in Flatbush is constantly dropping and leads to distracted driving.
yaakov doeParticipantLearn a trade such as plumber, auto mechanic or electrician and you’ll always be able to earn a decent living. A mohel also does well.
yaakov doeParticipantDon’t rabbits eat carrots and lettuce?
yaakov doeParticipantWhat was wrong with the man saying “maybe you should
daven”? It was a shul, not a fish market after all.
if you talk in shul – where do you daven?
yaakov doeParticipantApples and grapefruits seem to reduce hunger. Eliminate bread and cheese from your diet as much as possible.
yaakov doeParticipantWhy not call the OU and ask what Dunkin Donuts products are under their hashgocha? They may produce packaged muffins with the OU to sell in gracery stores
February 26, 2013 11:28 pm at 11:28 pm in reply to: Utterly disgusted with the throw up stains on sidewalks! #933226yaakov doeParticipantIt is a chillul Hashem, but heavy rains are being sent by Hashem to wash it away. I’m more concerned about the time Hatzolah members had to spend away from their families on Purim rtesponding to alcohol related emergencies.
yaakov doeParticipantWhere can I get handmade shmurah for $10or even $15 a pound?
Salt, and sugar may be problematic. Almost all American sugar is good and has Pesach hasgocha year round, but imported in questionable. Table salt has additives.
Raw packaged chicken and meat is Pesachdick year round, but meat and chicken from a butcher may be handled with chometz at the shop.
The best way to save money and avoid problems to to keep processed foods to a minumum for the 8 day.
yaakov doeParticipantIn Brooklyn it’s gotten totally out of hand so that Mortdechai and Esther wouldn’t know that what’s going on is shaloch monos. For stores to have hundreds of varieties of sugary candies and for people to load shopping carts with nosh is not what it’s about.
I assume the current practice is endorsed by the American Dental Society. If Bloomberg saw shaloch monos being givenm out he’d outlaw that instead of large soft drinks.
Stick to bottles of wine or scotch both of which are beneficial to health.
February 20, 2013 2:47 am at 2:47 am in reply to: Who Wants to Marry a Tzadeikes Like Esther? #1141352yaakov doeParticipantVery misleading title. What frum man wouldn’t want to marry a beautiful tzadekes like Esther?
yaakov doeParticipantpopa_bar_abba Any reason your brother doesn’t invite you to come over every Friday night to drink beer and eat beans?
Having a big seuda for the pidyon habas?
yaakov doeParticipantTorah613 – Assuming you don’t smoke the post on Shabbos, how do you use it on Shabbos, put in the cholunt? I doubt that pot will ever replace single malt at the Shabbos table.
yaakov doeParticipantRemember the chicken inm Monsey a few years ago? Sadly, anything’s possible.
The French eat horse, the Chinese eat dogs, for the Brits both are not edible.
yaakov doeParticipantLike that goysha holiday in December, Purim has been comercialized. Purim stores, hundreds of different candies, many of which are made in China and fancy shaloch monos already made up in the stores. What happened to the shaloch monos of old, a bottle of wine and a homemade cake or a salad? It has totally gotten out of hand and matonos l’evyonim largly ignored. And Vodka and Bourbon, replace the required wine at the Purim seuda (not the night before). A dentist’s, acandy store or liquor store’s dream holiday isn’t what Mordechai and Esther intended.
February 11, 2013 11:38 pm at 11:38 pm in reply to: Should Proper Grammar Be Required in the CR? #929450yaakov doeParticipantYes.
yaakov doeParticipantThe Shabbos snow that Hashem sent us was beautiful.
yaakov doeParticipantI understamd that Sfardi men can have numerous besherts as well as wives. Bad news is that each Sfardi wife comes with at least 1 mother in law, sometimes more.
yaakov doeParticipantA bottle of single malt is a better way to weather the storm that what anyone can brew at home. Kugel, cholunt and single malt are necessary Shabbos storm preparations.
February 6, 2013 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm in reply to: Viral Video: Girl Curses Out Judge, Gets Thrown in Jail – Who Is Right? #929653yaakov doeParticipantWhat a moronic airhead. She deserves the 30 days for lack of respect for the judicial system. The judge should get an award.
February 5, 2013 3:06 am at 3:06 am in reply to: Dressing up as a Nun, Munk,or Santa Claus for Purim #927324yaakov doeParticipantanon1m0us Today a lot of mothers let their children dress as zonahs. In some cultures it’s considered appropriate!
A galach or a pregnant nun for Purim is quite common, but because of the scandals it may not be wise to dress as a galach.
February 3, 2013 11:12 pm at 11:12 pm in reply to: Calling people with questionable smicha Rabbi #995540yaakov doeParticipantWho are we to judge the quality of one’s smicha?

February 1, 2013 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm in reply to: Jewish Mayor Koch Being Buried In Church Cemetery #927218yaakov doeParticipantHe chose the church cemetery to make it easy for the public to visit the grave. The funeral is in Temple Emanual the reform temple. There is not a single Jewish descendant of the founding members of that temple and with acceptence of goysha spouses and patralinial descent probaby few Jewish members today. Not much difference between the temple and the church which owns the cemetery.
yaakov doeParticipantSending a condolence card would be appropriate.
yaakov doeParticipantLook in this week’s parsha. Bais Rochels are Satmar’s Bais Yaakovs.
yaakov doeParticipantFUNNYBONE – Are you saying that the same store sells the same item in their local store and through Amazon? I found that with an AC with one price in their local store, on their website and for less on Amazaon shipped by the same store.
yaakov doeParticipantAnyone know what the going price in Brooklyn is to
remove an ayin horah?
January 29, 2013 4:21 pm at 4:21 pm in reply to: Something which takes place here pretty often and is wrong #925163yaakov doeParticipantTalking in shul during davening – very often – very wrong!
January 23, 2013 11:54 pm at 11:54 pm in reply to: English is Absent and Math Doesn't Count at Brooklyn's Biggest Yeshivas #924881yaakov doeParticipantIt’s a well known fact that many male chassidim born and educated in New York do not speak a fluent English, let alone read and write on an adult level.
The Bais Rochel girls have excellent language and writing skills.
