October 31, 2012 11:17 pm at 11:17 pm in reply to: Started Shiduchim & need help with Seminary Facts #901973WiseyParticipant
Publicized negative speech about seminaries may count as lashon harah unless it is specifically said to the person who will benefit from the information. Similar to starting a thread asking people to give their opinion about a certain person.
I hope no one takes offense.
WiseyParticipantOnce I gave in and shook a women’s hand but all I could think about was “OY how can I be doing such a thing.”
Does that mean it would become muttar irrelevant of attractiveness?
WiseyParticipantKeep in mind that being b’simchah on a date is a big plus and even in general if people know you as a happy girl the word will spread.
P.S. I realize that this is especially difficult in your situation. Hatzlacha!!!!!!
WiseyParticipant??? ???? ?? ????
(each phrase shares a word with the phrase before it)
BaalHabooze: seems that the name fits
WiseyParticipantSo no one wants to tell me what RSS is?
WiseyParticipantMaybe some of you (girls) can explain what type of bachur you are looking for, so that we can start working on ourselves a few years before getting “on the market”.
WiseyParticipantI just make sure to be holding something so that no woman will extend her hand to me and I will be forced to create an issue.
WiseyParticipantThanks
I hope everyone likes the recipe
WiseyParticipantI would like something nuts maybe “official inventor of banana mush” if possible.
P.S. Mush up the banana with its peel still on, then crack open the end and squeeze out the goo onto a piece of bread. Beware! May cause spectators to faint, vomit, throw rotten tomatoes, etc.
WiseyParticipantThat sounds very nice too bad I’m only twenty or I’d ask for your number.
WiseyParticipantThe creation of sound was included in the creation of eardrums. Tornadoes were included in shomayim, earth etc.
I’m just surprised that no one responded to my statement about light by saying that the pasuk is referring to the or haganuz. It seems that everyone agrees that physical light was also created on day one.
WiseyParticipantIf your cleaning lady is philipino she wouldn’t constitute as Eisav.
WiseyParticipantAs oppose to “light” which was created on the first day, “sound” was never created. Therefore, I would say that sound is only how one’s brain interprets vibrations in the air.
Too bad those who spent years figuring out if light is made of particles or only waves didn’t just LEARN the first few psukim of Chumash.
WiseyParticipantI think YWN CR would do well offering free advertising space to certain tzedakkah organizations. It’s not like that would take up pages or inconvenience it’s readers because the space at the sides is anyways not used.
WiseyParticipantCan someone explain to me how this RSS thing works
WiseyParticipantKol Haodom Kozev
The rule is that
??? ????? ?? ?????? ????? ????? ????? ?? ??
basically ‘all’ doesn’t mean ‘all’
Anyways we know that dovid hamelech wasn’t a liar.
Also, ??? refers to the lower level of civilization related to ????.
WiseyParticipantsome tell you to pick the top five attributes that you are looking for
I would say a girl that has 1)lots of yiras shomayim but also 2)sophisticated 3)eidell 4)easygoing(definitely a plus in a relationship) 5)cheerful (but not too much)
October 16, 2012 2:10 am at 2:10 am in reply to: ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? #1145798WiseyParticipantGood Q
Just something I saw that I think should be shared is that the singular form is ??????? (Yesod Vishoresh hoavodah)
WiseyParticipantOh My Hashem. Can someone explain how this game goes.
WiseyParticipant1)Any ??? with real yiras shomayim and understanding of tzniyus wouldn’t feel comftorble dancing in front of men
2) “If a man really wanted to watch he always could” -The point is to make it out-of-the-way so that as long as a man doesn’t try to tempt himself he won’t be.
3)Sam2-please explain “Simcha goreres simcha” and it’s relevance to this discussion.
4)I have a lot to say to those who prefer mixed chasunahs but to prevent this post from being deleted I’ll leave my machaos for a different time.
WiseyParticipantWell, forcing yourself to eat even though you are full doesn’t count as achilah so it wouldn’t be a mitzvah to eat a cow.
October 11, 2012 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm in reply to: Why do we beat hoshanos on Hoshanah Rabbah? #899106WiseyParticipantZeesKite: I’m not either into it but I saw the Makor in the Yesod Vishoresh Haovodah
WiseyParticipantSam2 -If a K’zayis of meat causes simcha then two should be more simcha (and so with Yayin)
WiseyParticipantThe Rambam in Hilchos Ishus Perek ?? Halacha ? discusses one who is so attached to the Torah like Ben Azzai that he is patur from getting married and having children. The Rambam says that if his Yetzer harah is overcoming him causing him to be attracted to women he must get married to subdue his desires. I considered this amazing that someone at such a madreigah can still have such problems. This is a chizuk to those who have done aveiros and feel that this makes them “nobodies”
P.S. Note even the Vilna Gaon got married.
P.S.S. I thought that love of Torah and physical desires contradict each other?
P.S.S. Note even Moshe Rabeinu got married and only separated because of his prophetic status.
October 10, 2012 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm in reply to: Why do we beat hoshanos on Hoshanah Rabbah? #899099WiseyParticipantMy guess is that throwing them on the Aron comes from the minhag in the bais hamikdash where when they finished hoshanos they left their hoshanos by the mizbeach and said “Yoyfee licha mizbeach”-“beauty to you mizbeach” and regarding hitting them I saw that one should beat them only five times no more no less. And why we hit them look in the Zoyhar parshas tzav daff ?? Amud ?
WiseyParticipantI think that all Divrei Toras Nigleh (even takanos) have deep reasons al pi sod so I wouldn’t suggest that the takanah wouldn’t be made nowadays unless I had done serious research into the topic. Also Chazal didn’t say that if you are in a place where daily shaves are the norm it is fine.
WiseyParticipantShkoyach! But it seems you agree that there might be a problem with the minhag of sucking a candy because it isn’t enough.
WiseyParticipant1)Well, ????? is a coyseves so the opposite should also be.
2) Is washing yourself also a mitzvah because it’s the opposite of ?????.
3) Would eating something you don’t like or if you are overstuffed already, not be a mitzvah.
4)”The Mitzvah is a kiyum of being full” so if I don’t fill myself I didn’t do a Mitzvah?
WiseyParticipantCan you explain why if a succah is more koydesh it is permitted to wear shoes?
October 5, 2012 5:20 pm at 5:20 pm in reply to: ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? #1145795WiseyParticipantReally there is a gzeirah shavah ???? ????? ???? and ???? ?? ??? so if you are outside a mukaf chomah where the drasha is also from ??? to ??? you should be careful to paint your doorposts with sheep’s blood before getting drunk the third time b/c makos bechoros happened at chatzos.
October 5, 2012 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm in reply to: ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? #1145794WiseyParticipantL’chorah 12 ??’s doesn’t include Adar sheini but maybe for that you have a gzeirah shavah Adar-Adar.
October 4, 2012 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm in reply to: ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? #1145792WiseyParticipantBaalHabooze:
Who are the ushpizin on Pesach?I counted so far Eliyahu Hanavi and the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Also, the proper time to blow is every time hamon is mentioned and a tekiyah gedolah at Hamon ben Hamidasah Hoagogy.
Also, Chanukah has nothing to do with the ‘fifteenth’ so you could eat your seudah hamafsekes in the sukkah without blowing out the neiros, get drunk, wait till shkiyah, lein the megillah, get drunk some more and make sure to eat the afikoman before chatzos. Then you can drink your 7,9,613 or 770 coysos depending on your Minhag.
A Freilichen Yom tov/Purim/Moyed
WiseyParticipantSo how can achilah on Erev YK mean something else?
WiseyParticipantWhy did the American chicken cross the road?
The light was red.
Why did the Canadian chicken cross the road?
It saw the American chicken do it.
Why did it only cross halfway?
1)It didn’t want to take sides
2)it wanted to lay it on the line
Why did the Polish chicken cross the road?
It didn’t see the truck.
Why did the monkey cross the road?
He saw the chicken do it.
Why didn’t the rooster cross the road?
It was a chicken.
WiseyParticipantHello, has anyone tried tomato, avocado, green onion and feta cheese?
WiseyParticipantI think you can learn a mussar vort from the blackening of the aravos.
We see that someone without taste or smell (chochmah or yiras shomayim) as soon as he is cut off from the tree of life and not kept in water (Torah) he withers away.
Also the elongated aravos represent the mouth when it is closed the way it should be.
Also I was wondering how someone could have Torah and not maasim tovim or the reverse(???? ??????) if the Mishnah in Avos says “?? ??? ???? ??? ???? ??? ??? ???? ??? ????’
WiseyParticipantI think that you can learn a good mussar vort from the blackening of the aravos.
Without ??? or ??? if you are out of water(Torah) for a short time you wither away.
WiseyParticipantMoski
Nice one.
WiseyParticipantHigh hopes, it’s never happening. Even if Chavez wasn’t in complete control a Jew would never make it. Once a Jew was going to be Prime Minister of Romania and he died in a plane “accident.”
WiseyParticipantYekke2:
I was just using achilas matzah as another case where there is a mitzvah to eat and there it requires a specific shiur in a cdei achilas pras.
WiseyParticipantWhy shouldn’t it cross the road?
WiseyParticipantWhy did the Jewish chicken cross the road?
WiseyParticipantWhat I don’t understand is why people spend gazillions on an esrog but don’t mind if after a few days their aravos look like they’ve gone through arbah misos beis din. I know the pasuk says “pri eitz hadar” but why should one of the minim be so much more important than another.
WiseyParticipantInterjection:
Sometimes when people are conversing each one is carefully thinking about each word they say so as not to give off the wrong image. In such a case you really don’t get to connect to his/her true personality. I was suggesting that maybe dates should continue until you can be sure you have passed that stage.
WiseyParticipantSince this is supposed to be for nightly Divrei Torah and none are appearing I’ll stick one in off the top of my head- Usually we pour wine on the mizbeach but on sukkos we also pour water why? Because going through the whole year we have been doing aveiros and are red like wine but after getting a chance to do Teshuvah we are clean and clear like water.
(comments would greatly be appreciated so that this thread would resemble a virtual beis medrash with pilpul flying back and forth and not a silent beis hakvaros)
WiseyParticipantMy parents got married at forty. If 35 is too old I must not exist.
WiseyParticipantMaybe you should investigate what went wrong and decide if it applies to you.
WiseyParticipantI’m only twenty but I think that if the relationship doesn’t get to the point where each of them feels comfortable to talk freely with the other you never really get to know him/her.
WiseyParticipantInteresting that you mention how it looks, because on my way to shul I realized that I was wearing leather so I took them off and walked home in my socks. People must have really wondered what I was doing.
WiseyParticipant??????, ???????? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??? ???? ???? ??? ???? ????? ???
So I don’t understand why someone would suck candies if they aren’t consuming the proper amount in the required time limit to be considered ‘eating’ (like matzo on Seder night that has to be eaten in a certain time limit to have been considered as having fulfilled the biblical requirement.) Unless there is also a Rabinic ordinance of eating on the ninth of tishrei that can be fulfilled with lesser quantities. However, I haven’t been informed as such.
