??? means nice
By the way what does Batsheva mean?
In a mishnah is zrayim I found bnos shevah to mean a type of fig, are peeople named after figs?
Why is the word even in Yeshivish communities pronounced Batsheva instead of Bas?
WiseyParticipantSo whats the first Q? And what team is yekke2 on?
WiseyParticipantI sign up for team blue. I don’t get what everyone’s problem with this thread is.
WiseyParticipantToi????
WiseyParticipantIn case my post got lost here it is again
Rambam (Tshuvah 9,2) -The pleasure of Olam Habah NEVER ends
Nefesh Hachaim(4,10)The torah is the word of Hashem and it originates in the highest of worlds called ‘Ein Sof’ -without end
Nefesh Hachaim-The joint neshamos of Klal Yisroel originate and are more kadosh then the Kisei Hakavod. The neshama of every jew is bound and joined with a letter of the torah
Rambam- Hashem and his wisdom(torah) are one
Zoyhar- Yisroel, the Torah and Hashem are one (this isn’t literall)
So obviously ????? ??? ???? ????? ???? includes Yisroel and the Torah. If anyone wants to debate the eternal and infinite existence of the Torah and Yisroel I can bring all the proofs needed to prove this point which I believe is a fundamental aspect of our emunah.
(Haleivi-Actually I do horvve on aggadah for quite a bit of time every day)
WiseyParticipantFunnybone: perpetual motion
WiseyParticipantYbrooklynteacher: Check out the expensive advertisement thread, we need some more normal headed people to be moche.
December 23, 2012 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm in reply to: A bit bothered by some advertisements in frum publications #1009262WiseyParticipantIf anyone claims that there is a purpose to overenjoyment in Olam Hazeh, I can bring proofs from any source you want that such a belief is pure garbage.
December 23, 2012 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm in reply to: A bit bothered by some advertisements in frum publications #1009261WiseyParticipant“Once one fulfills his requirement of tzedakah he can spend his money however he likes”
What planet do you come from? Don’t you know about all the suffering yidden out there? How can you spend so much on garbage when there are people going through yissurim every day? Besides the fact that one of the fundamentals of judaism is that we are only put in this world to prepare ourselves for the next world. How can you look at giving a tenth to tzeddakah as an obligation that needs to be discharged?
WiseyParticipantChicken crossing version 2.0
Why did the litvishe chicken cross the road?
Why shouldn’t it cross the road?
Why did the Chassidishe chicken cross the road?
That side was only for roosters.
Why did the conservative chicken cross the road?
It wanted to go off the derech.
Why did the Lubavitch chicken cross the road?
To be mekarev the conservative chicken.
WiseyParticipantYekke2: Hey you got those jokes from my post in the thread called “Jokes” , but you missed the jewish chicken
Yekke Mit: The chicken crossed because it didn’t see the truck
December 21, 2012 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm in reply to: any one has a click & paste Mishna Berura? #915140WiseyParticipantI got an amzing app- powersefer. It has “HUNDREDS” of seforim in text form so you can copy, bookmark, highlight, leave notes, or search for keywords in any particular sefer or the entire library. They are also always adding more seforim. I downloaded tons of sforim and now I can carry a library with me that doesn’t even require internet.
WiseyParticipant??? ?????? ?? ?? ??? ????-????
WiseyParticipantThe gemara discusses whether the torah is for klal yisroel or the reverse. The conclusion is that the purpose of the torah is for Yisroel. (I don’t claim to understand this but maybe it means that the reason for it being given to us is for our own benefit not that torah needs people to follow it)
WiseyParticipantThe torah was never created!!!!!!!! It has always existed. Period.
The torah is the knowledge of Hashem, just as Hashem has always existed so has his torah. Arguing on this is a great lack of kavod hatorah and a complete misunderstanding of the greatness that the torah and those who learn it have.
WiseyParticipantProbably by now the question doesn’t apply but maybe yeshivahlite was misheard as yeshivish lite
WiseyParticipantRelating to the discussion about parent suggestions, I think that these days with so many people not following the exact hashkafos of their parents this can decrease the likelihood of a parent’s suggestion to be correct. Personally if my parents suggested a shiduch I would automatically not consider it.
December 18, 2012 3:01 am at 3:01 am in reply to: Funny Shidduch Questions Asked About a Boy/Girl/Family #914109WiseyParticipantI don’t see how these nonsensical questions affect the shiduch crisis. It just means that the people who use cashmere tablecloths get married faster.
WiseyParticipantGoing a life without talking just reveals that you were only given less words. This relates to the question of how do I have bechirah if Hashem knows what I am going to do?
WiseyParticipantI think zeeskite and One of Many are also joseph because they like defending him. Anyways, I don’t think there is a point to this thread because he/she can always start a new name.
WiseyParticipantRegarding the discussion about every letter including the whole torah, what about the letter mem which even spelled out only spells mem mem
WiseyParticipantHaleivi- actully according to “our perception of space” we couldn’t live in part of it.
WiseyParticipantI may have heard this from someone a long time ago but i think I just thought of it. The neiros of chanukah represent the ongoing attempts of the goyim to seperate us from our torah. Eventhough they are successful with many people, there is always a single “jug of oil” the members of klal yisroel that continue the transmission of torah. The neis is that eventhough this mesorah should have been extinguished long ago, the fickering ?? ????? lasts forever, until the arrival of new oil ????? ??????.
P.S. I’m curious if anyone knows a source for this.
Baal Habooze- I think it went well.
WiseyParticipantMy wicks don’t do that, maybe you should just look around for a different type of wick. There are plenty of types out there, floating, plastic, wooden, oil drawing wicks etc…..
WiseyParticipantWhat do boys think about dating a 19 year old? Immature?
WiseyParticipantDear Popa,
I said in the evening not right before going to bed. I know it wakes you up.
WiseyParticipantDear PBA,
Do you have advice regarding falling asleep faster. I already tried exercising in the evening but it didn’t make me tired.
WiseyParticipantMaybe it’s a gilgul. Lol
WiseyParticipantWhat about someone who gets a bit too leibidik at chasunas? Would anyone believe that this isn’t from drinking? Would this affect his reputation?
WiseyParticipantMedium thinker, no offense but i don’t understand what that has to do with the discussion here
WiseyParticipantHaven’t you seen thin girls before? So you have gone bungee jumping and it didn’t impress you.
WiseyParticipantPBA- I don’t understand, if you can’t tell the difference then why does it matter.
WiseyParticipantWhat about a sefer that asks kashas on the tirutzim that are given. I’ll start- the Satmar Rebbe answers that one day is in recognition of the fact that Hashem loves us that he makes nisim for us.
1)Why specifically for this neis do we require another day for this idea? What about purim?
2)Isn’t that always why we commemorate a neis?
WiseyParticipantThat pshat from the Ri Miluniel explains a bit why Beis Shammai compare neiros to the number of korbanos on sukkos that represent the falling of the gentile nations.
December 11, 2012 6:09 pm at 6:09 pm in reply to: HELP!!! How do I make a shidduch resume?!?!?! #915186WiseyParticipantWhy isn’t there just one thread where people discuss issues relating to shiduchin? Does everyone want their question to recieve personal attention? Maybe a common thread would recieve more attention if everyone who wanted to discuss these matters just posted in one place.
WiseyParticipantNot that i necessarily agree, but i think the intention of the kfirah accusation is that it shows a lack of bitachon.
WiseyParticipantSome where shabbos clothes on purim some dress up. I wear a hat, suit and a pink tie.
WiseyParticipantIf the cow jumped over the moon where did it land.
WiseyParticipantI think that the explanation is that in seven years she will turn into a giant coconut.
WiseyParticipantShe pushed the coconut and it rolled down the stairs landing with a big thump on the ground.
(Do bein hazmanim machines and talking cats ever get involved in this story)
WiseyParticipantI don’t think B”H and B”S are just lenient and strict. This is like saying that Hillel was a rabbi for a less observant congregation. I heard a deeper pshat that had something to do with hillel believing in being a realist, and following halacha at your level but shammai held that one should constantly aspire to higher levels. This is why Shammai would set aside food for shabbos during the week, aspiring for the kedusha of shabbos while Hillel would porposely rely on Hashem to provide the necessities for Shabbos in time. This follows the idea that we deal with what we have and trust Hashem on the rest. This is why when Mashiach comes the halacha will be like B”S since we will then be holding at that level he aspired to reach.
WiseyParticipantYou should also consider that women care more about their own looks more. You can’t expect them to be white and black all the time.
WiseyParticipantOh I forgot to mention that everyone should now there limitations in this matter.
WiseyParticipantFrumnotyeshivish- the sforim are filled with convincing people to delve into proving to themselves the truth of torah and not to go through life as a blind person following another blind person …..until you finally reach one person at the front who is leading the whole line.If one person in the line stumbles the whole line behind him will follow.
WiseyParticipantHaleivi- as I quoted before infinity cannot be divided into parts, even an infinite amount. (Shaar Hayichud) also space is finite that is why we are told not to delve into “mah l’maaleh, mah l’matah”
WiseyParticipantYisrael v’oraysah v’kudshah brich hu chad hu
The existence of the torah as well as (the nishamos of) klall yisrael are infinite and eternal just like Hashem. They are not dependant upon anything. The world was created for torah and yisrael. Saying that the torah will cease to exist at the end of time is seriously degrading kavod hatorah. Also, the Chovos Halivavos explains philosophically that anything that will always exist, has always existed. The torah is hashem and never was created. It may have been written in some form 2000 years before creation.
WiseyParticipantMoshe was an exception in many ways. He was prepared already from birth to be the leader. This may have included the correct physical build required for the proper respect he deserved
WiseyParticipantAs far as I know shoes in the torah are leather and they couldn’t kill any animals.
WiseyParticipantAnyways, some of the 7 Mitzvos were given to Adam and therefore would apply to Og too.
WiseyParticipantTherefore nowadays these questions don’t apply but I wonder about in earlier years.
