WhiteberryMember
Why ignore. Why not block to begin with?
WhiteberryMemberPass the tissues.
WhiteberryMemberThat’s the problem, so many people use it to “communicate” and “keep in touch” that people don’t really know what it means to communicate or to keep in touch!
WhiteberryMemberSome like to play the “my rav is greater than your rav game”.
WhiteberryMemberI go one step further than the dismissive attitude expressed above. I dont even care to know that those other opinions exist or what they might be. As far as I am concerened, the first and last word on any matter is that of my Rov.
WhiteberryMemberVery progressive.
WhiteberryMemberOne of those attitudes seems to be the “let’s take anonymous pot shots at those trying to help while we sit on our rear ends and deride them and their efforts”. Perhaps if those same people adopted the attitude, I disagree with their method, let me come up with a plan of my own and put it into action, we might be better off.
WhiteberryMemberThe former Ms. Middleton still wears denim, at the appropriate occassion. You can, if your filter allows, find such pictures online.
In Brazil, appropriate attire is interpreted differently than in England, for men and women. Cultural norms certainly do play a role, that much is clear from halacha. These “how to” books such as Rav Falks do not take that into consideration, nor can they, as they offer a one size fits all approach.
WhiteberryMemberSome bnos melachim wear denim. They almost all wear floor length gowns to any formal occassion. The ceo where I work wears denim to the office, he is neither low class or performing a menial job.
As for the menial jobs in my office building, most are performed by those wearing polyester uniforms.
WhiteberryMemberSo, rav falk is advocating, short skirts?
WhiteberryMemberIs that the official spin?
WhiteberryMemberThat’s quite a progressive school your kid goes to. Cross dressing and underage drinking.
WhiteberryMemberZeeskite. Regarding your most recent comment…Your point is?
WhiteberryMemberWhy would someone want to condition himself to act in a dishonest manner. Even if darkei shalom did not exist in a particular circumstance, why would you want to steal from or deceive someone.
The “golden rule” is a distortion of hillels statement (as are most xtian concepts), not the other way around.
December 3, 2012 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910282WhiteberryMemberTypical of the do nothings to have only negative to say about those who do something. Disagree with the program and its methods, shut up and start your own program. I admit it is easier to sit on your keester and snipe anonymously from behind your keyboard, if you want to be taken seriously though, act like a rational adult instead of accusing people of lying.
WhiteberryMemberThe offset the opinion of the tzedukim who held cold foods has to be eaten on shabbos, jewish mothers everywhere instituted the practice of ordering pizza for their children several hours before their husbands returned home from the beis midrash or from work, so that by the time they returned it would be cold. This way they could point to thursday nights cold food and say, see it is not davka shabbos the food is cold, we are not tzedukim.
November 29, 2012 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910263WhiteberryMemberGiven the choice for the name of this thread is yours and that your comments follow that claim and your insistence that lo rainu aino raya is inappropriate, it leaves me with no choice but to believe you are leveling an accusation.
What would you like NASI to do, create a website with information on all shidduchim made, including the chassan, kallah, shadchan and monies paid to please skeptice like you?
WhiteberryMemberFor those who learn daf yomi….nun ches amud beis….in the zman hagemara women WANTED to look fat, they had tachshitin for such a purpose.
November 29, 2012 5:16 pm at 5:16 pm in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910261WhiteberryMemberMSS, I am not trying to prove or disprove anything, there is no burden of proof on me. I was saying, just because you have not seen shidduchim, is no proof their claim is untrue. If you feel the program owes it to you to prove their claim, ask them for the proof. Its a lot nicer than basicly calling them a bunch of liars as you opening remarks imply.
WhiteberryMemberI got the point. You like tpo eat, but are ashamed to do so publicly.
WhiteberryMemberWhiteberryMemberIf I saw you sitting and eating from 10-3, I would think, that girl has problems.
November 28, 2012 8:43 pm at 8:43 pm in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910251WhiteberryMemberLo rainu, aino raya.
WhiteberryMemberGreen lips. Is that like a red herring?
WhiteberryMemberWhat does “flatbushy” mean? Is that a positive or negative usage, a praiseworthy or a perjorative term. Can you explain your use of the term?
November 25, 2012 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm in reply to: Fund to Help With Long Distance Dating Costs #908594WhiteberryMemberMirubim Tzarchei Amcha…..
If you have don’t have infinite funds, speak to your Rav about how to best prioritize where you do allocate your tzedaka money.
WhiteberryMemberHe/she should grow up and give it all to spread torah.
WhiteberryMemberI have glasses with thick frames. They hide the thick lenses.
WhiteberryMemberSounds like this might be a step up from Darkei Nowhere. Can we apply online?
November 12, 2012 11:17 pm at 11:17 pm in reply to: Why do you think the Hurricane Sandy came? #906929WhiteberryMemberHealth, perhaps I wasn’t clear, perhaps you misunderstood. Who knows. All. I said was that all reasons given here are speculation, I didn’t make any judgement regarding the correctness of the speculation. I added that I’m sure there ARE people in this generation who are in the know, but they are not members of this forum.
I suppose it is also possible I completely misunderstood you. Did I write something yoo disagree with? Care to clarify?
WhiteberryMemberThe cables under the ocean are insulated.
As are overhead wires. Why do you think birds and squirrels can run along them.
When they are downed, somewhere along the way the wiring is exposed.
WhiteberryMember42. In your case, I’d probably break both.
WhiteberryMemberIf I was the spouse of your friend, you would be doing me a great favor by not inviting me.
WhiteberryMemberWhether it is halachicly permissible to touch your niece or not, I will leave to a posek. What I can say with certainty is that if my daughter was your niece and you touched her, I would break your arm.
WhiteberryMemberThe moderator replied tongue in cheek. Don’t get all bent out of shape.
WhiteberryMemberOne assumes the principal acted the way he did, and it is a logical assumption. For confirmayion, one can speak with the principal. As for why hashem does things, surely people can make logical assumptions, but last I checked there was no way to confirm those assumptions. Perhaps there are people in this generation who do have ( i will call it) the gift to know with clarity and certainty why hashem does things, but, I will say with certainty they are not members of this forum.
So, go ahead speculate. Immorality, bittul torah, talking in shul, all speculation, but if it spurs you to improve in the area, go for it. Please do not project your shortcomings on the rest of the general public. That is for the leaders of the community.
WhiteberryMember“the Mishna Berura discusses it by what’s considered erva to say shema in front of, in hilchos kriyas shema.”
The MB makes no mention of any hachos of negiah in hilchos krias shma, nor does he discuss ones niece.
To the OP. Are you concerned about fitting your niece when she comes in for a pair of shoes?
November 6, 2012 11:40 pm at 11:40 pm in reply to: Why do you think the Hurricane Sandy came? #906901WhiteberryMemberAmar Rabbi Binyamin Bar Yefes, Hakol bichezkas suma…..
WhiteberryMember“she is supposed to wait on him “hand & foot.” Polishing shoes is included in “foot”
I think this is a big chiddush. I can hear polishing his feet, but his shoes too?
WhiteberryMemberThe original question stated this was said in the name of the mishna berurah and asked “was he correct”. I’m sure the question isn’t “is the MB correct”, rather did this person correctly quote the mishna berurah.
To rephrase the OPs question, is there a MB that states, as asserted by Reb Somebody Shlita, that it is assur to touch ones niece once she is older than 3? If someone is familiar with this MB can they let us know where it may be seen inside?
WhiteberryMemberWhat happened to the days when people made their own cheshbon hanefesh and worked on themselves and their shortcomings. Now, it seems that every shnuk with a pen or a keyboard is an expert in everyone elses shortcomings and has no problem opining why things happen on a personal or communal level.
WhiteberryMemberTraditionally Democratic papers, including the NY Daily News, papers in LA, Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale (among others) have come out endorsing Romney in the last 24 hours. How many of these polls were taken after readers of such traditionally democratic papers woke up on sunday to editorials spelling out clearly why Romney is the better choice.
WhiteberryMemberHe has metal taps for the week and rubber. For shabbos.
WhiteberryMemberOut of gas? Donate $100 to Kupat Ha’ir and 40 Rabbonim will come push your car.

November 2, 2012 12:47 pm at 12:47 pm in reply to: Why do you think the Hurricane Sandy came? #906854WhiteberryMemberAl Jazeera reports a machlokes haposkim in the moslem world. One shitta holds that last week during their eid, they davened for the eveil infidels to suffer and their prayers resulted in sandy. The other opinions says it is the Israelis fault, they manipulated the weather to result in the storm, it was a practice run for what they have in store for the palestinians.
November 2, 2012 12:38 pm at 12:38 pm in reply to: what is the impact of where you went to seminary on shidduchim? #902039WhiteberryMemberNovember 2, 2012 11:17 am at 11:17 am in reply to: Newly Assuming Managerial Duties at Employer #902299WhiteberryMemberRemember, your first obligation is your job and your responsibilities to your employer, not the employees who report to you. A good manager knows how to balance both. Hard to give practical examples since different types of jobs require different skills from a management perspective.
The common denominator in any situation is that your role as manager is to bring out the best in each employee to make them as productive as possible for the company. It means working with each direct report as well as your manager to make it work for each employee. Also remember, it is your job to enforece company policy, not be a nice guy to everyone who asks for a favor.
November 2, 2012 11:10 am at 11:10 am in reply to: GAS SHORTAGE: Where Can You get Gas Following Superstorm Sandy? #902427WhiteberryMemberIn general Hess stations that have electricity also have gas. Seems the Hess terminals where the gas is stored are not as bad off and the tankers are able to be filled and gas delivered to stations. PSE&G claims (heard on the news about 30 mins ago) that power will be restored by tomorrow to almost all terminals where the gas is stored, so that over the weekend the available supply can be distributed. The industry claims there is no shortage of supply, just an inability to fill the trucks for delivery. Of course, if you are in an area that has no power, won’t do you any good.
November 2, 2012 3:45 am at 3:45 am in reply to: Should Jews Give Candy This Coming Monday Night? #1105090WhiteberryMemberI’m having a hard time connecting the modern “holiday” of putting on a costume and collecting candy, with any pagan religious practices.
