And someone who is sick should not be treated with hate, also the proper way (and the most effective) is to bring him closer with love

You should view him with pity, not hate, aside from the fact that he is a tinok sheishba, even complete sinners that don’t go into the character of tinok shenishba you are not supposed to hate rather have pity on them (aside for select cases as is explained in tanya i forget the exact place now), and additionally this specific problem of mishlav zochor is basically sort of like an illness, a urge for something forbidden that is unnatural

Ik many where against it when it originally came out since gemara is meant to be learnt each person per his pace and level, some people can learn 2 blatt a day, some an amud etc, if you want to do something with achdus gemara this way is not the best way since in limud hatorah everyone is on a different level “michoteiv etzevha vead shoeiv meimecha”, for sure there are many things that connect all yidden together, but in limud hatorah everyone is on a different level

This that women should not learn gemara doesn’t apply now since nishtanu hativim (the nature changed), it used to be that as a result of womens place in society they wouldn’t properly understand torah, but now that women are working etc just like men there is no issue

About what the lubavitcher rebbe said that today there aren’t any misnagdim, even those opposed to chassidim aren’t opposed for the same reason they used to be, just an example is asking berachos from a tzaddik, the litvish today do, that was one if the things misnagsdim opposed, he meant that there aren’t anymore real misnagdim

Just for the record when the rebbe said that the freideke rebbe will reddem us he quoted a medrash (in the footnotes – basi legani tof shin yud alef) that even though moshe rabbeinu wont be moshiach but he will still lead his generation to moshiach

Ubit, “Again, as Ive pointed out if you think the “right” to own guns is worth the price of more dead people. thats fine. but be up front and say so “Yes we have more gun deaths than any other western country but thats the price we pay for the right to bear arms” I disagree with that weighing of values, but reasonable people can disagree.”
You cant compare america to other countries, they are different, if they would make all guns illegal now, it wouldn’t save alot of lives, and the lives it may save would be saved by letting normal ppl have guns. From this it seems you are In favor of a complete gun ban, before u said only universal background checks (which i agree with).
In a place with no guns circulating what your saying might e correct, but the way america is now it wouldn’t help to make them illegal, (that is not getting Into the discussion of the right to own guns at the cost of gun crime)

I am not saying that criminals should be given access to guns, I think there should be strong background checks on all guns sold, but I do believe that the way america is now making guns legal for the average American will end up in a safer America. If guns are banned someone who gets one illegally can shoot without fear of being immediately shot by a civilian, on the other hand if guns are legal some mass shooters may have it easier (not like they would previously stopped) but I think that it would be safer the 2nd way

Right, there are limits, but just like we have the basic right to own knife, even though ppl can do terror with it, or a car, but we still have the right to own it, and if ppl do terror with it, or try to stop it, so to with guns, obviously u have to have proper background checks etc, but you cant take away the person’s right to defend himself, and you have to draw the line somewhere about what type of gun, ppl shouldn’t have assault rifles, since nobody needs that to defend themselves, u cant carry it either way.

Ubit, there is no point of legalizing heroin since legalizing it dosent help anyone, America would be safer with guns legal for ppl who went through the proper background checks et most ppl who want to shoot will get one either way, and the shootings you will have that would have not happened without them being legal are going to be less than the shootings that will be stopped by letting law abiding citizens have guns, someone who wants to make damage will, and making it illegal to buy guns is not getting to the root of the problem, should we make knives illegal? Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws and they have one of the highest shootings, the reason is because most of it us gang crime which don’t get they’re guns legally

By legalizing guns u give the good guys a chance to fight back, and it creates a deterrent to shooters if they know everyone carries

“shows R Meir’s lack of serious foresight, as it led to his own ruination” that was a lack of respect” “the amoraim jumped over rivers and climbed trees to be in the company of pretty girls” that is a lack of respect, we don’t speak of chazal like that, there is obviously something here that we are not understanding, if you want to quote a specific story, fine, but writing it like that is disrespectful, I acknowledge that you didnt mean it that way,

And therefore that fact that the man goes after the women as in the stories you mentioned is not a lack of das In the man over the woman, and similarly the way women are is not inferior to men, just different

in reply to: Nashim Da'atan Kalos and Women Today #1772925

The reason why men go after women and not the other way around (darkoy shel ish lachzor acharei haisha) and as is clearly seen is because a man is a mashpia and a women is a mekabel and therefore a women’s role is more passive while a man’s role is more active, and as a result of this difference of mekabel and mashpia comes many differences in character between men and women, a women is only truly happy in the relationship if she feels that the Male is a true mashpia, and so to for the man, this doesn’t mean that the women is inferior they are just different, the husband isn’t supposed to force her to do anything, rather he is supposed to act in a way that his wife will want to listen to him, a couple once got into a slight disagreement in front of the lubavitcher rebbe zatzal and the husband told the rebbe, isn’t she supposed to listen to me, the rebbe replied your supposed to act in a way that makes her want to listen to u, rabbi manis Friedman speaks about this alot.
