No a therapist who couldn’t solve her own “bad” marriage won’t be very good at solving someone else’s.
That comment about Moshe Rabbeinu is ridiculous. Moshe Rabbeinu separated from his wife because he spoke to the Shechina on a regular basis and wasn’t allowed to be impure from marital relations.

WIYMemberTake them. If you feel no different then you know they are working.

Kids don’t belong in shul if all they will be doing is making noise and disturbing other Daveners as well as their parents.
There is really no reason to bring a kid to shul unless they are old enough to say part of Davening and can sit STILL for at least a few minutes and understand to be quiet and not disturb.

It shouldn’t take too long. Besides, that was never my goal. I just enjoy playing hangman lol.

When I said no talking I was including laining as well. I don’t feel the need for the Rave to talk although its always a nice thing especially if he is a good speaker and he is inspiring. The camaraderie after soul is a nice touch as well but certainly not necessary and not part of the shul experience. A shul is for Torah and Tefillah. Its not a social club. If people want to schmooze in the hallways or in front of the soul kol hakavod.

Well it would certainly be worse with looser gun laws.
Maybe the govt should restriction how many guns are put into circulation and have a system for keeping track of every gun so that they know which gun was sold to whom. Im assuming some system is in place but its obviously not that thorough as too many guns are slipping through the cracks.

I heard on a few shiurim from Rabbi Shafier from the shmuz that everything the neshama ever did will be in full view for everyone in the Olam Haemes

Right meaning that those who get hold of them tend to use them. So something has got to be done about this.

What I mean is that our thoughts speech and actions will all be revealed to everyone. There’s no hiding. Every Aveira we ever did will be out for display. Its very embarrassing for most people. I can’t speak for you.

WIYMemberWant a more scary thought? All of your family and friends will be able to see what you did behind closed doors. They will see the real you not the you that you project to the world.
WIYMemberAny shul that has a nice slow Davening and the singing is nice as well as the Oilum doesn’t talk by Davening.

Theres no reason to feel guilty for crying (unless you are being a cry baby for no reason). However if your life truly gives you a reason to cry then at least focus the tears to Hashem in the form of a Tefillah. Maybe take a Tehillim and cry over a Kapitel and have other Yidden who are suffering in mind.

September 6, 2011 1:22 am at 1:22 am in reply to: Does Anyone Else Find This Short Story Disturbing? #840692WIYMemberOh please! As if As if a Chassidish guy dressed in his Chassidish garb from head to toe wouldnt get stares in a modern orthodox shul! Would anyone go over to him? Would people wonder whats HE doing HERE? How many people would say hello and ask him if he needs a Seuda?
Lets face it, all of our communities need to work on being more accepting and less judgmental. However since we are all just Yechidim the only thing we can do is change OURSELVES. If enough Yechidim change themselves it will rub off on everyone else and every community as a whole will have a greater sensitivity of Ahavas Yisroel and Hachnosas Ohrchim.

Allow me to recommend a fantastic book. The book is called Real Power by Dr. David Lieberman PH.D Its a fantastic book that will really help you grow and get past many of your problems. I have read it and I can say it did a lot for me.
You can probably find it in Eichlers or other Judaica stores. Take a look at the book before you buy it I think you will like it very much.

Unless you are a Baal Ruach Hakodesh you will never know who your true Assert or zivug is. Hashem in his chessed gives us a certain feeling that the person we are dating is the right one and we get engaged.
The one we get engaged to is our bashert. We must believe that and go into the marriage believing that the person we are married to is the right one. So if any problems come up (the typical stupidity that most couples moan and groan about) realize that it is a test from Hashem and instead of getting into a fight with your spouse which can lead down a dark path of marital discord and thinking that you got the wrong one, instead work on your middle and make every effort to maintain shalom bayis.

September 5, 2011 5:04 pm at 5:04 pm in reply to: Does Anyone Else Find This Short Story Disturbing? #840666WIYMemberCan we please stop this negativity and bashing of large communities of Jews? This topic has been discussed numerous times. Instead of bashing Brooklyn Jews lets do our best to try and do what’s right REGARDLESS of what others around us do.
We must try to be welcoming to all (I know I try to wish others a good Shabby even if we don’t know each other, believe it or not once in a while you get someone who is down and your friendly good Shabby can give them a pick up)
We must try to keep our eyes open for new people on the block and do our best to be friendly to them and make them feel welcome. Every little bit counts.
There are plenty of good excuses I can give for why people aren’t friendly in Brooklyn and many of them are very valid excuses but they won’t help the situation. The only thing that will help is if enough Yechidim make the effort to be different.
WIYMemberAYC
Thanks. I was really racking my brain on that one.
September 5, 2011 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm in reply to: Who believes the Talking Fish Story from 2003? #805823WIYMemberHealth
Yiddishkiet as a whole doesn’t need it but non frum people need it. There are many incredible stories from Bale Teshuvah that experienced miracles (probably in the zchus of their holy forebears) which lead them to search into their Judaism and become frum. These people often need that something to push them to wake them up and realize that there’s a Hashem and an Oilum Habah.

Please understand that your perception of the cruelty can be biased by the fact that you are suffering so much. It is likely that they are treating you like they treat everyone yet due to your condition you need to be treated differently. It is very likely that if the teachers had an idea what was going on they would treat you much differently.
