WIYMemberLol. Why do people call u geek? Because you know stuff that nobody knows?
WIYMemberStreek
I hear they definitely can go together in one song. Ty.
WIYMemberStreek
What’s wrong with being a geek?
WIYMemberI’m so grateful that you bumped this thread.

To go full circle we also need a thread about people less frum than us. Or is that what this thread is about?
WIYMemberBashert dot net looks promising.
WIYMemberIs that your way of saying they put u in a straight jacket?
WIYMemberiron
Why not try it out theres nothing to lose.
WIYMemberLittle Froggie
So you are saying Hashem didnt let the animals wipe them out?
I was thinking that maybe they whole mitzrayim became a war zone and they went after and hunted all the animals to kill them and they actually killed the animals but there were many casualties.
WIYMemberPopa
Nice try.

Clearly there are issues and therapy is a process that takes time. There are teens that are very confrontational and angry and they cant be “told” to do anything or they go on attack or defensive mode.
WIYMemberMakko is a Japanese word for the generic term “incense powder.”

You sound dangerously close to reform Judaism.
WIYMemberRedleg
You know you can google all this. Youll get more info that way.

If you are dying from thirst youd almost drink anything from anyone. Obviously they were desperate and they saw that the Jews were able to drink the water.
WIYMemberI’m surprised you didn’t walk out in protest by hatikvah.
WIYMemberHome is Yerushalayim
WIYMemberRead up on it. Also they are older than you and remember how things used to be. Anyone over 25 or so also remebers how things and people used to be.

All the psychologists are saying theres more narcissism. You dont have to agree. Especially since you are nogeia because you take selfies.

1. If Hashem knows what decisions we will make in the future and how our lives will turn out, how can He reward us or punish us– we are merely doing what he knew we would do all along!
He knew we would do it potentially but we get reward for doing it because WE did it. The act makes it ours. Otherwise there would only be reward for potential good and that would be nehama dikesufa “bread of embarrassment/shame.” (the following parenthtical sentences are from Rabbi Rosenfeld on Torah.org: If G-d were to “reward” us for doing nothing it would not be reward; it would be humiliation. Receiving a handout is an embarrassing, mortifying experience. Getting something we did not earn does not make us feel good about ourselves. It makes us feel crushed, ashamed to show our faces in public. Try looking in the face of someone who did you an enormous favor. You’d much rather never have to see him again. If G-d were to give us what we did not earn, we would hardly feel “close” to Him. We would never be able to have any kind of meaningful relationship with G-d in the World to Come — which is really what the World to Come is all about.) True He knows what we will do but He doesnt make us do it. You chose (using your will or ratzon) to do every mitzva you did.
2. Also, how does this fit in with the idea that harsh gezeiros can be overturned- does that mean that the future isn’t set, even if Hashem planned it out from creation?
Hashem has rules set up for how the world works. If abc happens then def will happen. However built into that system there are certain ways to circumvent certain occurrences. Like through tefillah or certain tremendous deeds. Yes Hashem knows how everything will end up but like others have told you that has no bearing on your choices.
3. Also, what about the idea that our futures are set on Rosh Hashnah? Does that mean Hashem didn’t know what would happen to us the year before, next year?
Hashem knows everything always but maybe you can say it is all like the way you can have an idea and know what you want to do but that doesnt make it done just yet. I think what happens on Rosh Hashanah is that Hashem writes down and puts into motion the power to make that year the way its supposed to go based on your merit. He knew it before and knew what He would write before but now He makes it happen so to speak and sets the ball in motion.
I hope this helps you.

I don’t know where to start so I’ll just sigh and maybe say some tehillim for you.
WIYMemberI’m sure some people use txt spk wen thy dvn. I use Hebrew from the siddur and I try to occasionally daven in English like when I feel I can use some help with something I’ll ask Hashem for assistance.

“What I have issue with is that the yetzer hara had this plan to keep a person squeaky clean and not bother him at all his whole life in order to trip up the chozer. I don’t believe it.”
Listen the Kotzker said it. He obviously believed it. You don’t believe it ok. And who are you? Not trying to be mean but if you disagree with something you need to explain why! Do you have an acceptable source that says otherwise or is this purely boich speaking?
WIYMemberSam2
Vaguely similar is not the same at all. But either way yes I believe that the one who comes from a spiritually negative person will have a negative impact on your soul.
WIYMemberTrust 789
Even if it is ratzon Hashem for there to be a fight still this person had no business being the shaliach. Lemaysah this person said Lashon hara and the only reason his loshon hora was accepted was that he was assumed to be a genuinely good person. There is a concept of megalgelin chov al yeday chayav.
WIYMemberStreek
I didnt read the article. However the point is that today the youth is narcissistic as a whole. This has never been before in history. That so many people at so young an age should be so narcissistic.
WIYMemberDo you honestly believe that I could listen to 2 identical songs–with the exact same notes, lyrics, etc.–and yet be positively affected by one but negatively by another because they were written contemporaneously by different people?
This is impossible and can never happen. Music is a thing that comes from the soul and emotions of a person and two souls can not come up with the same tune.
WIYMemberHaLeivi?
Gadlus haadam isnt narcissism.
WIYMemberstreekgeek
Well I hope you have gotten past those thoughts…
WIYMemberstreekgeek
Not clear what your last comment is relevant to.
WIYMemberStreekgeek
Classical is better than the junk of today with all its lyrics and the crazy beats but it is still harmful in a more subtle way. Its a madreiga. I was speaking to Haleivi.
WIYMemberStreek
We live in a very selfish world and yes many psychologists have noticed that many teens today are narcissistic. We live in a crazy world and the only way to maintain a certain level of sanity is to immerse yourself in Torah and try to block out the goyish velt as much as possible.
WIYMemberStreek
You have been to a shooting range? (video games don’t count lol)
WIYMemberI think it’s real there’s no benefit of a hoax and Bolivia would deny it if it weren’t true.
WIYMemberHaleivi
Most of the classical musicians were from the biggest low lives to walk this earth in their personal lives. They are a lot worse than today’s singers and musicians especially because they were highly intelligent educated people who knew better and should have acted a lot better than they did. The music comes from a dirty soul and it goes into you. It definitely dulls your spiritual senses whether you are aware of it or not.
WIYMemberBekitzur
What happened in the end?
WIYMemberStreek
They need people like u in the army.
WIYMemberSam2
Im assuming you are ashkenazic so therefore many things you do Halachically is against how the Rambam paskensdoesn’t that bother you that you do so many things against the Rambam?
WIYMemberBusiness1
Did you see Sams reply?
WIYMemberLAB
I don’t think he is implying that at all I think you’re going out on a limb to infer that from his words. I think all he is saying is that listening to goyish music per se does not disqualify one from being a shatz but because of that second consideration of tunes he would use it would disqualify him. Additionally he isn’t discussing Kol isha or songs that discuss divrei cheishek and have inappropriate words and subject matter.
WIYMemberTorahlishma
You want to have a cute little gathering in your house it’s your business but making big public asifas requires daas Torah if you can’t understand that then you really need to speak to daas Torah.
