Ill 2nd yytz. Also, if you have people in the car try to focus on the road and not on the conversation. Driving in Brooklyn requires full attention at all times. Don’t be a lazy driver, when pulling out of a spot dont just peek in the mirrors, turn your head around and look to make sure nobody is speeding down the block. Also turn around when reversing or parking.
Dont be afraid to go for extra lessons or to have someone really good at driving work with you if you feel some of your skills arent up to par (like parallel parking, or turning…).

Explain to me where a serious boy who learns most of his day and takes his Yiddishkiet seriously is going to develop all these life skills and worldliness that you speak of. He isnt online, isnt wasting his time reading non Jewish books, isn’t watching movies, maybe reads a frum newspaper occasionally, doesnt go places he shouldnt and doesnt associate with people who arent serious learners. So I will ask you, where would you expect him to get this worldliness? Yes there are many boys with worldliness but they didnt get it in the beis medrash. Or maybe they did by shmoozing with their chavrusas instead of learning…
WIYMemberMuch worse when speaking to them and they are busy texting or reading email on their phone. People have short attention spans these days.

I cant believe you buy into that conspiracy theory.

What is this person doing to get back in touch with his Emunah? I would hope such a person is in touch with a Rabbi and devotes serious time to Torah study….Its not going to come back on its own. A relationship has to be worked on.

“Also girls generally flirt with guys that send out vibes that he’s accepting flirting”
Not true. Girls who are flirtatious will flirt with a guy they find “cute” even if he sends no flirtatious signs. Please refrain from making things up. especially since you could be ruining a shidduch here and making a girl think a great guy is not as great as he is based on nothing.

“Not wanting to look conspicuously frum can be necessary for pikuach nefesh purposes.”
It often also enables one to think Hashem isnt looking.

“BTW I don’t know if you knew this but R’ Shmuel Birnbaum Zt”l said about Rav Pohrille that he is the “Masmid of America”
Im not sure I believe this because I dont think there was a bigger Masmid than R’ Shmuel Birnbaum Zt”l!
March 6, 2013 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm in reply to: Should someone become a Rabbi as a career path? #935421WIYMemberThe Rabbinate is not a position for those looking to make money even though there are many Rabbonim who get paid well. Having semicha is also not enough to be a Rabbi. If you are not a respected and recommended talmud chochom nobody “Orthodox” will hire you. I think Conservative and Reform pay a lot better.

The website is run by Gateways. The Rabbis who work there are tops. You can also email specific Rabbis by addressing your question with Hi Rabbi X ….
hey should know.

WIYMemberPlaying sports for physical fitness on a regular basis is a good thing, but I cant imagine that its 100% mutar to make leagues as they often lead to fights and arguments and people get very angry when they lose and what not.

Certain things are Halacha and certain things are common sense that requires us to make changes based on a changed world and changed realities. Times have changed and certain things change along with that. Of course Halacha doesn’t change but maybe the way we apply certain Halachos can change based on different times and circumstances.
