I don’t understand any of your comment.

Even though they were at har sinai they still did the egel and they still tested Hashem 10 times in the midbar and asked “hayesh Hashem bikirbeinu ” by the mei merivah.

The nesayon of avodah zara was extremely powerful in previous generatioons and very smart and great people fell in.

Truthfully every aveira that is done bemeizid (loshon hora or tayvos looking at what we shouldn’t. ..) is due to a lack of emunah because if you believed strongly enough you wouldn’t dare and would never want to do something that is against the will of Hashem. Emunah is the hardest challenge and it is the challenge of the dor before moshiach hence ig is our challenge. The idea of emunah is that it has to be real it has go be felt. If you technically believe there’s a Hashem but don’t feel duty bound to His word then what is the emunah worth?

We are supposed to yearn for moshiach now when Hashems presence is not yet obvious. Once Moshiach has arrived obviously Hashem will be obvious and there will be no more need to yearn for moshiach because he is already here! But right now in this generation there are many who don’t yearn and don’t believe moshiach will come. Its very scary but I heard people say things like eh he’s never coming chas veshalom or other crazy comments.

The Maharal and others explain that bechira only comes into play in a situation where Hashem is testing you to choose between good and bad. It is very likely that the decision to accept her had no bechira involved and it was a clinical decision based on their criteria for acceptance into their seminary.

I do think that schools catering to a more kollel type of family has every right to be choosy and I think they should not let in boys from homes that don’t adhere to the hashkafos of the yeshivah. Most boys that got into trouble over the years came from making bad friends and these friends are boys that watch movies in their house and surf the net without filters. Ghe bad influences in every class come from more modern liberal chinuch homes and thats a fact. I think schools have every right to be picky about these issues. However its wrong to discriminate against kids based upon their intelligence. That’s a whole other discussion though.

I’m surprised nobody said this: we mention things like the holocaust in Tachanun every Monday and Thursday when we say Habeit mishamayim urei ki hayinu laag vakeles bagoyim nechshavnu katzon latevach yuval laharog uleabed, ulimaka ulicherpa… uvechal zos shimcha lo shachachnu. If someone knows what they are saying in Davening and pays attention then he thinks about the Holocaust at least twice a week in Shacharis! Between that and Tishaa Baav there is no further need to have a yom hashoah. However I do agree with those who want to institute Holocaust studies as a part of the curriculum. I do think that as time goes by and the survivors keep dwindling Holocaust awareness fades.

A book or sefer is a great start but it will only help you so much. Emunah requires thought and reflection. Think about all the good things you have in your life and try to be aware of the daily chassadim Hashem does for you. Try to see the Hashgacha Pratis in your life.

The way to really connect with Hashem and build real emunah though is through Tefillah. Work on your Davening and talk to Hashem like its just the 2 of you.

I would certainly recommend Rav Millers books. Many of my Rabbeim have recommended his book and although I never read through any of his books from cover to cover, I have read bits and pieces over the years. Additionally, I have heard or read many things brought down from him and they really open your eyes to proper Torah Hashkafah.

When it comes to mitzvos all of a sudden certain people are concerned about “getting sick” I’m sure you never overeat, eat too quickly or eat fattening or very rich foods that can possibly get you sick. I never heard of anyone getting sick from eating a kezayis matzah. You quickly chew it up and swallow it. 2 minutes is plenty of time. Especially if you are quite hungry as most people are when they get to Motzi Matzah.

Oh btw a kezayis is a little more than a 1/4 of a hand matzah. Unless you are really young or really old or ill you should have no issue chewing it and swallowing it in 2 minutes. If you really have a problem you should aim for under 3 minutes. If even that is difficult there are poskim that say you have up to 4 minutes but ideally one should do it in 2. The reason for all the stringencies is because its a Torah mitzvoh not a derabannan.

“He is a very real person and who are you to criticize what you don’t understand!”

Correct, really goyish! He takes all his stuff from lady gaga who is a really low person and his videos are styled after hers which means you know that he watched them and idolizes her. He also sings non Jewish songs, he raps like a goy and dances in a very unJewish way. In my opinion hes nobodys hero. There are many people who do the wrong things that can entertain people and make them happy, that in NO way makes it muttar at all. Making people happy by being a goy? Is that where we stand in this generation? That to make people happy you have to act like a goy and copy them?

in reply to: Video of Lipa in Budapest #939486

    Veltz

If you watched all his music videos you would see that he is no longer kosher entertainment especially for the chassidish community. Maybe for the MO its ok because they have groups like the maccabeats which do similar things to what Lipa does. The real issue is that Lipa is a disenfranchised chassid who is gradually modernizing and rebelling against his upbringing. He is a person who needs guidance and isn’t getting any. He thinks he can make his own shul and be a Rabbi and be his own man and live by his whims. He doesn’t get the basics of Judaism and wants to play by his own rules.
