True, but you don’t marry a person with bad hashkafos or middos “hoping” they will change.

Parshas Shlach: Rokeach – What Is The Connection Between The Mikoshesh Eitzim and Tzitzis?
The Rokeach answers with a Tanna D’bei Eliyahu that says, Hashem asked Moshe, “Why was the Mikoshsesh Michalel Shabbos?” Moshe didn’t know. Hashem said, “I will answer for you. Six days a week a person wears Tefilin on his hand and head. When he sees them, he refrains from doing aveiros. However, on Shabbos there is no Tefilin to remind him.” At that point Hashem told Moshe to go out and command the Bnei Yisroel to wear Tzitzis. The pasuk says, “You will see them and remember all the mitzvos of Hashem.”

“okok to clarify, the ice cream is identical in appearance and taste. my bad.”
The plot thickens lol.
If you cant tell the diff in taste then you must wait 6 hours before serving it to any fleishig person. Thats what I would say.
WIYMemberI think that people are afraid of broken engagements so they stay with someone they shouldn’t convincing themselves that all will be ok. Then they get divorced in shono rishona.

Yeridas hadoros is a basic chazal talk about it in various places. Although once in every few centuries a neshama that belonged in a previous generation gets dropped down in a later generation for the benefit of the people who need it at that time like the Arizal, Baal Shem Tov and Vilna Gaon…

“WIY, if something sounds stupid, a Rishon didn’t say it.”
It seems like he did say it and the Rishonim and gemara say many things that we dont quite grasp.
Most often the case is that the Gemara, or Rishon or Acharon says something that sounds stupid to our farshtuppedteh American brains so we just decide its wrong or crazy or stupid. I will repeat what one of my Rabbeim told me Besheim Rav Wolbe zatzal, “in the time it took a Rishon to dip his quill into ink and put it to paper to write he thought more in learning than any of us will think in our entire lifetimes!”

“btw I hope this is nowhere because it’s false. a dud, if you will.”
Why would you say that if you dont know if the Ibn Ezra said it or not? Or is your opinion more valid than the Heilige Rishon Rabeinu Avraham Ibn Ezra’s?
WIYMemberIf you follow the discussion and what he is saying I happen to agree. Maybe I wouldn’t use those exact words. The point that he was making is that a threat to our spirituality is many many many times worse than a threat to our physical well-being. If they kill us so be it we are dead, we die physically but live forever in olam habah with Hashem. Howver if they kill us spiritually and get us to chas veshalom renounce our religion then even if we are alive its as though we were dead and such a death is eternal death.

I for one would be very pained to see a Jew shopping in a thrift shop. Thats where boys go to buy costumes for purim. You are hard pressed to find anything normal looking in a thrift shop.

May 28, 2013 9:51 pm at 9:51 pm in reply to: An Open Letter from R Shteinman Shlita Regarding IDF Draft #955891WIYMemberIf anyone actually read the letter while not half asleep they would realize the letter is regarding Yeshiva bochurim and not Kolleleit. Its true that in many Yeshivos there is no Friday seder and even if there is one it is “optional” or very weakly attended and very shvach. Also when there is such a seder it usually ends at 12:00 and the rest of the day is wasted. In America most Yeshivos end at 12:00 or 12:30. What do the highschool and beis medrash boys do from 12:30 and on? The Rabbeim have to go home and prepare for Shabbos but most boys have little to do on Fridays.

Can u explain how these vouchers work? If someone pays for one that means that they got it from a Tzedakah organization because they are needy?
WIYMemberZushy
Is that true? If so nice Yichus!

No, actually drinking is generally a lot more dangerous than smoking because people tend to drink to excess and those that become addicted to drinking and alcoholics wreck their health and their lives. It takes many years (usually) for smoking to have a real obvious effect on ones health or make on sick. With alcohol one drink too many and there goes your liver.

So the one paying with chessed vouchers paid full price for them so basically it is the store that values the voucher that is giving .02 of every dollar spent in their store to Tzeddaka?
