I think generally nisyonos are matters of spirituality, so for example you will have a nisayon to not learn or to talk loshon hora, to look where you shouldnt, to be a baal gayva.

An onesh is a punishment, like if you get sick or lose a significant amount of money…usually Hashem does not bring bad things on a person as a test. Usually they are an outcome (middah keneged middah) for his actions. However, in every onesh there lies a nesayon. Hashem wants that you should accept the punishment as coming from Him as an atonement for your misdeeds. If you ignore the message Hashem will keep sending punishments. Hashem wants us to do Teshuvah and the punishment only works when the persons heart wakes up and he realizes Who did it to him and thinks about the why.

Davening is something very personal. If a person is actually blessed that he can feel his/her Davening and feel connected to Hashem that is very powerful and intimate and its uncomfortable when others look at you.

Addiction is technically self medicating. For example there are people who like food and they over eat “when they are hungry. ” A food addict will eat even when he or she is not hungry but rather because he or she is in a bad, sad, angry… The thing is being used as an escape from a feeling. If you take a shot of whiskey whenever your day doesn’t go how u like you are an alcoholic. Addicts will abuse legal or non legal substances to the point where it interferes with their life. The key point is that they are not doing it for the pleasure of the thing but rather the escape from reality.

Any issue that public like the wow issue would get such a response. For example if you had large mobs of chareidim attacking chareidi soldiers it would be addressed. You just have an axe to grind.

I dont want to get into it with you or anyone in particular here, but if you google, I mean thoroughly, like google “graphology debunked” and stuff like that you will find that graphology is actually very far from an accurate personality analysis. I had my handwriting analyzed and it was half on half off, basically useless and confusing (because at that time I believed it to be accurate so it made no sense to me).

You want him analyzed take him to someone like

    Dr. David Lieberman.

I would tell you to make a thorough list of what needs work. Whateved is a mitzvah doraysoh that’s what needs to be worked on first. Its very nice to be happy but if you aren’t being mekayem kibbud av vaeim then you are going against one of the aseres hadibros! So I would say first get your mitzvos straight then I think automatically the middos will improve. You can’t have kibbud av vaeim unless you do it joyfully its not kavod to do as they please witb a frown and “attitude” so automatically doing mitzvos properly fix our middos. However once you are being mekayem the mitzvod properly you can certainly then try to improve the individual middos even more. I will give you a big secret that I usually charge a lot for. Kidding but really it’d an important insight, there’s one midda that many people today are weak in and that is what ruins their relationship with themselves, their parents and friends and ultimately Hashem. That is the midda of appreciation. If you can learn to truly appreciate what Hashem gives you (and we are all being given gifts constantly at every moment) and appreciate the people in your life and really FEEL that hakaras hatov you will become truly great as a Jew and be someone that others will love admire and respect.

Hasmada in Torah is not natural. The yetzer hora burns in every person constantly trying to destract him from learning Torah britzifus. Most people who can sit straight for an hour or 2 and learn solidly started with 5-10 minutes and built it up. Theres no hasmada gene.

I won’t answer your question directly. I see that what concerns you more than getting help is your image and what people think of you. Very symptomatic of teenage years. Anyways my advice to you is what the mishna says in Avos “The bashful one learns nothing.” What I mean is don’t let these fears and uncomfortable feelings get in your way of doing what you must do for your own wellbeing. Many people never get the help they need to develop into healthy adults because they were afraid of approaching someone to say they need help and advice. So I will strongly urge you to go to this teacher if you trust her and if she has a reputation as being helpful for teens in your or similar situations and get that help that you need. Much Hatzlacha!

    Not a sheep

I would need to see it inside to believe that there were eggs. As far as I know everything was created in a mature state with the ability to procreate however there is no reason for there to be eggs because an egg is the result of procreation which first started when Hashem gave the animals the command to procreate. (Its in the pesukim ayyin sham).

Thanks for sharing with us the real reason kids go OTD.

    Oomis

I think parents should snoop because unlike when you grew up a kid can have an itty bitty hand held device loaded with movies non Jewish music and what not that doesn’t belong in a frum home. A parent has an obligation to snoop and keep an eye on things. Unfortunately every child has a few classmates who are a negative influence on the class and you never know if your Tzadik or Tzadekes was innocently lent an ipod or other thing with inappropriate material. If you don’t monitor your kids today you are simply irresponsible and don’t really care.

You know Hashem made a much bigger Kol Koreh about all of the above called the Torah. The kol korehs are for the less obvious stuff. Nobody in their right mind needs to be told that its not ok to abuse someone or that its not ok to steal…

What matters to me and some members here (and should matter to the management) is that this is called yeshiva world and has usually been very careful in keeping things kosher as far as the content allowed. There has been a noticeable decline in the last 2 years. So maybe it is now totally ok to talk about the likes of Taylor Swift and Marilyn Manson here. It used to be different.

    SaysMe

I know who she is because when she came on the scene I was still listening to non Jewish music. Even if I didnt I am sure there are people who never listened to non Jewish music who have heard the names of famous celebs.

I am very bothered by the lowered standard of this website the last year which started at least 2 years ago. I wont go on a rant but this place has gotten to the point where we are being complained about on other Jewish sites that we aren’t kosher. That should tell you something. I actually tried defending this place but my comment there didn’t make it through. The bottom line is just because you may be “worldly” and know a lot of inappropriate things does not mean you should air it here. This is not meant to be that type of place. There are people here who hopefully don’t know who Taylor Swift is and there’s no reason why anyone should have to see the name here and start googling.

People need to have their own common sense. The Rabbonim are not hand holding nannies. I don’t blame a Rav every time someone does something stupid. Lets face it we have plenty of people that just dont have common sense and don’t do smart things, like leaving babies in cars and other forms of insanity. The Rabbanim have no obligation to make sure people have brains in their heads. Thats the peoples job to try and live smartly. If you went through Yeshiva and still have no middos and no common sense and no idea how to behave you probably spaced out through most of it and therefore anything a Rav says now will have little impact.

If you find a Jew’s unfiltered phone the best thing to do is put a filter on it and then return it. You are doing him a tremendous favor that he can never repay.

Very biased magazine, but brings some important issues out into the open. My opinion in general is that if you can’t keep an open mind and take things with a generous heaping of salt as well as keeping in mind that many articles are agenda driven and you arent hearing the whole story you have no business reading Jewish magazines and news papers.

Why should anyone care about this baby more than any other baby? Besides, the mother is a commoner. You can be into it but its mamish shtus vehevel following this couple is no different than following any of the other non Jewish celebrities. They are just celebrities nothing more. Do you read EW too? At least the queen is someone respectable.
