Are you aware that the song Sola Kokosh (spelling?) Is a goyish song yet the holy Kaliver Rebbe shlita sings it? It would seem like its not a problem for a Jew to take a non Jewish song and make it holy.

There’s a whole bunch of other things people do Kneged Halacha, just because a lot of people do something wrong doesn’t make it right. Because 99.9% of people talk Lashon Hora makes it mutar? The only reason I know any Halacha is because I make it my business to learn Halacha daily if we don’t learn Halacha how will we know anything?? Many people in fact most people learn daf yomi but how many learn and know Halacha? A very small % of the population.

Im not unhinged. Im just still trying to get over what kind of Rav or Posek would say that whats called Kavana today isnt Kavana and nobody has Kavana. It doesnt sound right at all. Besides that, psak has to be based on something.
Im sure if there were a VALID heter it would be mentioned in the many seforim on Hilchos Tefillah. Feel free to do as your Rav says.
I will do as I was told by the 2 Ravs I asked and the Sefarim that I used to look up the Halacha who all said exactly as those Rovs advised. I will tell anyone reading this to ask a competent Posek for what they should do lmaaseh as it comes up a few times a day.

In a perfect world we would have no need for concerts but in this day and age I think most Rabbanim would say it is permissible. Why would a non mixed concert be a problem unless you say its bitul zman or something, but theres no solid issur. Anyone can be a Kannai and Assur everything in sight.
Remember America is not Eretz Yisroel, the Geodlim there are much more machmir and the realities are different. Remember a concert in Yerushalayim the holiest city on earth that is in Aveilus because theres no Bais Hamikdosh may not be so appropriate, but a concert in Brooklyn, would be fine.

Yes we don’t have Kavana “like they used to” (you and your Rabbi decided NOBODY HAS KAVANA PERIOD! But there’s no mekor for that outlandish statement) and when not having Kavana LIKE THEY USED TO applies to Halacha it is mentioned CLEARLY as Shouldn’t Be Here quoted!! One cant fabricate Heteirim to walk in front of others who Daven Shemonah esrei when NOT ONE HALACHA SEFER brings such a heter or mentions such a Hava Amina!

Do you refer to Beis Medrash or high school? Most Beis Medrash boys are given a certain level of independence. Smoking is a personal life choice. A bad one, that is assur Mideoraysoh because of Vnishmartem Meod, but still ones personal choice. I think Yeshivos should make it clear that its Assur Gamur. More than that you can’t ask for.

I just don’t know where you are coming from saying people don’t have Kavanah today. Second of all the Shechinah can be there even if we don’t have proper Kavanah, you will have to prove to me otherwise. As far as I understand it the second one launches into shemonah esrei the shechinah is there.
Furthermore, I got a psak based on the Tzdaddim, I also looked it up in a number of sfarim hebrew and english including Guidelines to tefillah and if there were a Heter he would mention it.
You can do what you want but don’t go ahead saying no one nowadays has Kavana because its a ridiculously arrogant and foolish statement. If the Kavana we have toda isn’t Kavana and the shechina doesn’t come then what point is there to daven? I’m bewildered that you can actually say such things and be serious about it!

You are right, they shouldn’t have mixed seating because of the teens. I’m out of my teens and I view a concert as family fun but I hear the potential for problems.
But I still think that non mixed concerts are fine.

Which Seminaries would you say produce girls who have very good Hashkafos, (knowledgeable in Hashkafah not a mishmash of confusion no offense to anyone)
Are frum (they live their Hashkafos, would not watch movies, listen to non Jewish music…but may have at some point in their lives) but are also worldy, normal and down to earth and not super yeshivish or “chinyuked?”
Thanks

The bus and train are also mixed seating except that on those you end up often phyically touching a woman who is usually not Jewish and not dressed too Tznius. There are many people who have to put up with this a few times a day every day of their working lives.
If the concert has mixed seating sections where the women sit next to women and the men sit next to men and everybody is anyways focused forwards on the stage what’s the big problem?

“I heard Beshame a certain Poisek that this halacha doesn’t apply nowadays because of lack of Kavanah.”
What kind of statement is this?! How can you say lack of Kavanah? You or this Rabbi you asked knows how much Kavana people have? So your Rabbi paskened that nobody has Kavana? So why do we bother Davening at all?
I’m almost sure no such Aruch Hashulchan exists. Id go shopping for a new Rabbi…(one that has Kavana when he Davens)
The Rav I asked was paskening lmaaseh.
In fact the Aruch Hashulchon is very strong about this Halacha and far from Meikil! Read it here Thanks Trying To Be Helpful

If there’s a will there’s a way. It may not be the shortest way but you can find a way to circumvent people who are Davening SE. The key is to not come late where you will be coming in when people have started SE.

Frankly, with the plethora of Jewish books on the market today there’s no reason to give kids non Jewish books to read. It just fills their heads with non Jewish concepts and examples of bad middos and behaviors.
Todays libraries allow kids on the internet with a library card. Additionally they have magazine racks and all kinds of inappropriate novels. They also have a videos and dvds section.
If you care about the Kedusha of your children you should keep them away from a library and if they must take out a book for school its best if the parent goes. Or they go together.

I don’t want to go into details here but if you google around a bit you will discover that some other blogs discuss it and explain why it shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
Personally, I have a Rav he wouldn’t go along with this, and besides, I hardly go to concerts and when I do I always sit with family and we never have an issue of men sitting next to women they aren’t related to.

The Talis Gadol is different than talis Katon (tzitzis). The Talis Gadol is a beged that is specifically for prayer only. It is used for Mitzvah and one should not go into the bathroom wearing a TG.

The only Heter I heard is that if someone is davening in a public aisle he’s a nuisance and one may lift him up and put him somewhere that he will not be in anyones way. But to walk in front of him? Not sure there’s a heter.
Health
There are 2 reasons one may not enter the 4 Amos in front of another davening SE
1. Disturbing his Kavanah
2. The Shechinah is there so it is not Kovod for the Shechinah to walk there.
Even if the Kavanah issue is addressed the Shechinah issue isn’t. You should ask your Rov for psak Halacha Lmaaseh. However when I asked a Rov he made it clear that there’s no heter whatsoever to walk in front of one Davening Shemonah Esrei. Its not a very “convenient” Halacha but I’m guessing that if you are makpid on it you are more likely to have your tefillos answered because 1. If you disturb anothers tefillos your Tefillos aren’t answered and 2. If you have no Kavod for the Shechinah I doubt the Shechinah cares what you have to say in Refaeinu, Bareich Aleinu….

Usually that will not be a problem I daven there often and always found a way out even if its the long way out and using a different exit. Ben Torah, Halacha is Halacha as inconvenient as it may be sometimes. If we try our best Hashem will pave the way for us. Think of it this way, the rare occasion that you have NO way out and must wait for som/eone, you get a mitzvah every second you wait. If you have Kovod for the Shechinah YOU CAN’T LOSE!
