No worse than attacking the kiddush on Shabbos and fressing as if you haven’t eaten in days.

All sorts of complaints. Maybe the police are in on it too if they are getting complaints and not doing anything? Extortion??

September 24, 2012 11:07 pm at 11:07 pm in reply to: please pass along; cars being TOWED from toys r us parking lot!! #1017336wanderingchanaParticipantHave any of you called the police about these guys demanding $200 cash? You might get faster results than if you wait to hear back from politicians.
wanderingchanaParticipantHaving a pet can teach children responsibility and compassion for all of Hashem’s creatures. If we cover the challah at kiddush as a lesson that the challah shouldn’t be ’embarrassed’ (and therefore we should be be careful not to embarrass our fellow Jews), then having a pet can also be a constant reminder to be aware of our actions and to extend consideration to people around us as well – ‘be careful not to step on the cat/little sibling’, ‘make sure the dog has food and water/offer family members & guests a drink/food’ (kibbud av v’em & hachnassas orchim), etc…
September 14, 2012 9:19 pm at 9:19 pm in reply to: Is there a way to tell if a girl will be a competent wife and mother #896797wanderingchanaParticipantInstead of ‘telling’ each other what to do, they should be asking each other, using please and thank you. One small but important way to divorce-proof a marriage.
If he doesn’t want to do that much, then he is definitely looking for a personal assistant, or a maid, not a wife.
September 14, 2012 7:44 am at 7:44 am in reply to: Is there a way to tell if a girl will be a competent wife and mother #896790wanderingchanaParticipantHire a personal assistant instead.
wanderingchanaParticipantWolf, sometimes I understand how sarcasm can help diffuse some of the anger I know I feel when I read about people doing things that fly in the face of Torah, but it is often painful for me to read your more biting comments about yourself. As was mentioned above, you’re not allowed to speak loshon hara about yourself. We manufacture enough tsouris on our own as a communtity – please don’t add to it 🙁
wanderingchanaParticipantRefuah shleimah to your mom.
August 31, 2012 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm in reply to: sheitel-wearers, any advice in choosing wig for chemo patient? #894274wanderingchanaParticipantAurora, if you can take your mom to a place where religious Jewish women buy wigs, it may be comforting to her to be among women for whom wearing wigs is a completely normal part of life. May your mom have a refuah shleimah!!
wanderingchanaParticipantCR Shomrim Alert: PBA at Lax and Mandel’s 3 hours ago. Quick, review the security camera tapes!
wanderingchanaParticipantPBA: Did she say thank you?
wanderingchanaParticipantFWIW, you can eat bons bons just as easily in a chair by the pool as you can on the couch at home.
wanderingchanaParticipantLook… if you’re wishing someone Good Shabbos, it’s because it’s Shabbos. Doesn’t the fact that it’s Shabbos merit an acknowledgement? I mean, it’s Shabbos!
wanderingchanaParticipantGood Shabbos, everybody!!!
🙂
wanderingchanaParticipantBest to concentrate on keeping your side of the street clean. Don’t worry about what other people are doing.
wanderingchanaParticipantHow old is the “girl”? 5? 11? 35 and not married?
I used to get upset when grown men would ignore my outgoing little boy when he’d say “Good Shabbos”. Saying loudly “say it again, he didn’t hear you” usually wakes the older one from his Torahdig stupor. And yes, we can tell the ones from Brooklyn.
wanderingchanaParticipantGoq +1
wanderingchanaParticipantExperience *should* be commensurate with price. Good, qualified therapists invest a lot of time and money into their training as therapists.
wanderingchanaParticipantI’d eat a whole box of thin mints, but only if they’re made from real Girl Scouts. (<–who can name the pop culture reference?)
wanderingchanaParticipantMorahRach – I’m sorry if I have ever hurt your feelings in this way. Sometimes I do correct spelling/grammar, and I have complained at times when people post as if they’re texting (with no paragraph breaks, etc). Mistakes detract from the message, sometimes to the point that I won’t bother trying to parse a post if it’s too difficult.
P.S. I <3 the edit feature. LOL…
wanderingchanaParticipantBy that logic, couples should only be allowed to have 2 children under 18 at a time.
wanderingchanaParticipantMazel tov. Your baby is still a newborn and is totally dependent on you for his/her survival. That is more important to focus on than a few extra pounds. Give yourself a year. At least.
wanderingchanaParticipantThre are a lot of people really suffering because of the effects of the storm, from DC to Ohio. People’s lives are in danger from the excessive heat and no power for medical equipment.
wanderingchanaParticipantI feel weird calling someone back if they haven’t left a message, like I’m stalking them or something. “Hi, you called?” “ummmmm”
But as long as I’m paying the bill, I decide when/if I will return voice mails, or whether or not I even pick up the phone, for that matter.
wanderingchanaParticipantLooking forward to the NY/NJ/Guam Scoop.
wanderingchanaParticipantWhat can I say. Sometimes I wander and I forget to make my way back for awhile. I hear it’s a sign of aging.
wanderingchanaParticipantHealth: “I can tell you with my kids -the coldest Docs were the women.” – you can’t even acknowledge it was your wife the docs were cold to. It’s a pity you’re so biased against women.
I had an amazing female OB/GYN with my first birth. I had a patronizing, condescending male OB/GYN with my second. I agree with interjection – I don’t know why men go into this field.
wanderingchanaParticipantWhat makes you so sure I’m a he?
wanderingchanaParticipantOOM +1,000,000
wanderingchanaParticipantLOL Wolf!!
wanderingchanaParticipant???? ?
wanderingchanaParticipantCheck your coffee filter.
wanderingchanaParticipant(caveat: pain itself may not be dangerous, but one way or another, it’s your body telling you that something’s wrong.)
wanderingchanaParticipantIMO I would proceed with caution with the Sarno book. I just came across this quote in a review (I find particularly irresponsible the advice to stop any physical therapy and to tell yourself that pain is not dangerous):
“To help people recognize that their mind, rather than a physical abnormality is the source their pain Sarno’s treatment program involves lectures, group meeting and psychotherapy, if necessary. Patients are encouraged to discontinue all physical therapy, resume all physical activity, and review the 10 daily reminders: I have no structural abnormality only mild oxygen deprivation;-I have a harmless condition caused by repressed emotion (mostly anger);-TMS exists to distract me from emotions;-I have nothing to fear;-my physical aching is not dangerous;-I will not be concerned or intimidated by pain;-I will shift my attention from pain to emotional issues;-I intend to be in control-not my subconscious mind;-I must think psychological, not physical.”
wanderingchanaParticipantMoitrin?? Is that a new heimishe brand??
FYI, TMJ = Temporomandibular Joint. Attaches lower jaw to skull. Everyone has one, but most people don’t notice until it hurts.
Bruxism = grinding your teeth.
wanderingchanaParticipantDef see a neurologist. You could have a bulging disk in your spine. Cut added sugar out of your diet for a few days. You could be deficient in magnesium and/or B2 (riboflavin), both of which can cause headaches. Flexall or Icy Hot help sometimes too.
wanderingchanaParticipantLots of water!! Sometimes mine get triggered by dehydration. Like 2 liters minimum in a day. Excedrin migraine. Oxycodone. Ice packs. Dark, quiet room for a couple days. Last resort, emergency room.
wanderingchanaParticipantYou need to see a dentist pronto to get fitted for a TMJ appliance. It’s a piece of molded plastic that you wear at night. If you need to you can wear it during the day too. You need to stabliize your jaw, though. Hatzlacha and refuah shleimah.
wanderingchanaParticipantI’m sorry, but you have to phrase your answer in the form of a question.
wanderingchanaParticipantHow about Torah Jeopardy instead?
wanderingchanaParticipantHow is it not indecent exposure for someone walking by to see that?
May 24, 2012 4:01 am at 4:01 am in reply to: Did I ever tell you about the time I almost got lightened by lightning? #876042wanderingchanaParticipantNah, I gotta give HKBH the credit for that one!
At least it’s spelled right in the link.
(lightning=natural phenomenon in the sky)
(lightening= verb tense of to lighten=to make something a shade lighter in color, or lighter in weight)
wanderingchanaParticipantSince I don’t speak Yiddish, I have no idea which version of which psak is correct. Anyone want to break it down?
wanderingchanaParticipantMaybe we could first establish if you hold by these presumptions?:
1) Anyone reading/posting here is obligated to abide by every psak issued by any gadol hador.
2) Anyone reading/posting here abides by any psak issued by any gadol hador unless they have a heter.
3) Anyone reading/posting here is obligated to describe their heterim to you.

May 21, 2012 1:04 pm at 1:04 pm in reply to: with the asifa behind us, what will you do about it? #875642wanderingchanaParticipantConsidering the dearth of responses to your post, clearly everyone has dumped their computers in response…
wanderingchanaParticipantThat’s how they say it in his kehilla.
