To see frum grandchildren find their basherts.
wanderingchanaParticipantLOL smartcookie: wrinkles you buy for free
wanderingchanaParticipantThe ones in E”Y, maybe?
C’mon, this has gotten ridiculous.
wanderingchanaParticipant(All together now, 1, 2, 3:)
Hi, Joseph.
January 20, 2011 3:38 am at 3:38 am in reply to: If This Is The Answer, What Was The Question #732069wanderingchanaParticipantEclipse, LOL!!
Q: “What was it like when you discovered you’d just called out your MIL in the YW Coffee Room?”
wanderingchanaParticipant“Not fat, just tall from side to side”
wanderingchanaParticipant1) May the light of heaven above reflect in your eyes
2) The blessings I recite by the candlelight but it’s getting late
3) dum dum dum dummmm/dum dum dum dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
wanderingchanaParticipantCan’t believe I missed something again…
wanderingchanaParticipantFlibbedy-Floo!
wanderingchanaParticipantAny call from 732 (Lakewood) I send to voice mail.
wanderingchanaParticipantSupposedly, 1 out of 5 people are affected by mental illness. If you have 4 normal friends, it’s you.
Seriously, everyone has something or other going on. I think some (read: a lot of) people hide it better than others, which comes in especially handy in shidduchim, whether talking about the chosson and kallah, or their family members.
wanderingchanaParticipantBed-Stuy: True, but if you don’t have to pay for east coast housing etc., you don’t need as high of a salary.
wanderingchanaParticipantIndeed 🙂 Although Geauga County gets the brunt of the lake effect snow, anything north of Mansfield gets pounded every winter.
Also, Telshe is in Wickliffe, which is in driving but not walking distance to the Cleveland Jewish community.
I don’t know about Hebrew Academy, but I know families from outside Cleveland who send/have sent their girls to Yavneh (which is 7-12). They have a very nice, fairly new building. I have heard it has a swimming pool.
I would move there myself it it weren’t for winter (and parnassa) 🙂
wanderingchanaParticipantCleveland is a SUPER-nice community! Midwestern values, and housing is unbelievably affordable. The only drawback is winter. Cleveland has nice museums including the Great Lakes Science Center (which is better than Liberty Science Center in NJ IMO)and the Children’s Museum, both places my family has really enjoyed going to.
They also have a world-class symphony orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Hall is easy to get to, and it’s only $10-15 to park. They have a summer concert series in a beautiful national park only 30 miles southeast of Cleveland. There is a ski resort near there with skiing and snowboarding.
Passaic is nice but may not be out-of-town enough for some – lots of transplanted Brooklynites, and horrific east coast prices (even now with prices depressed).
wanderingchanaParticipantI have a hard enough time figuring out where I am half the time. I don’t need another personality to keep track of…
wanderingchanaParticipantIf you have an attitude of fear of how they kids will handle being gone, the kids will pick up on that fear. If a mother has a lot on her plate, she may need a whole week to recharge. What if she is also taking care of sick parents/working full time/is chronically ill? Having said that, I’ve never done it…
Definitely tell the kids!! They WILL feel abandoned, even if they don’t remember why years later. They don’t need to be told far in advance, but do tell.
IMHO Disney movies are terrible. Either one or both parents are missing/dead/abusive and the young child/animal is forced to make it on their own. That’s the formula. But no one here is suggesting permanently abandoning children. They don’t compare.
wanderingchanaParticipantI’d be surprised if their husbands know.
1) If money is that tight, maybe they should stick to pasta?
2) “The other says that its “just” a derabbanan since theres no unkosher meat, and they eat it on disposable plates.” – I’d be curious to ask what her rav says about the fact that the pizza is baked in the same ovens as pepperoni and sausage.
wanderingchanaParticipantbygirl93: I echo what nfgo3 said about your first post. However, I am still 100% in favor of uniforms.

January 17, 2011 8:31 pm at 8:31 pm in reply to: VOTE HERE if guys in BMG should wear name tags #729145wanderingchanaParticipant“Hello, My Name Is”
Are you saying they should also have their names on them?
wanderingchanaParticipantYou could make it a musical and have a chorus of Josephs!
wanderingchanaParticipant“not Joseph”
wanderingchanaParticipantOooh ooh. Can I be eclipse?
wanderingchanaParticipantI am totally in favor of uniforms. Girls at our school can wear colorful tights and headbands, and colored/striped shirts for Rosh Chodesh.
wanderingchanaParticipantbygirl93 – I’m sorry, but I disagree. You are not limited to 160 characters here. Is it really that much more trouble to type “school” than “skewl”?
wanderingchanaParticipantand Ted Williams. Both of them.
wanderingchanaParticipantHas anyone else noticed that yitayningwut also spells itwingnutyay? Coincidence? I think not.
wanderingchanaParticipantNot sure I’ve had anything deleted. Had something edited recently that I didn’t even think about and had to really look to find (I used the wrong word for gender).
wanderingchanaParticipantbygirl93 – I’m glad you like you school uniform, but, wow. Please pay more attention in Language Arts. Your parents are paying a lot for your tuition, and there is no excuse for such awful spelling and grammar.
wanderingchanaParticipantWe had just moved to a new neighborhood and were invited to a family for Shabbos. I was in awe of the wife’s cooking skills and blurted out, “Where did you learn to cook like this??” I realized afterwards it didn’t sound quite like a compliment, and stumbled over myself, but I think I hurt her. I’ve seen her a few times since then and she’s been cool to me. I feel badly that I hurt her, but I’m afraid bringing it up again will just make it worse.
wanderingchanaParticipantmetrodriver: Good one!
That was a reference to a thread I started where my use of one word led to the changing of the thread title to the other word. If anyone actually got that, they probably ignored it, LOL.
wanderingchanaParticipantMaybe *kapusta* is Eeees?
(humor)
wanderingchanaParticipantWhat’s the difference between rhetorical and hypothetical again?
January 12, 2011 6:30 pm at 6:30 pm in reply to: Who Thinks Mid-Winter Vac. Should Be Banned? #728706wanderingchanaParticipantI think all these snow days should be taken off of winter break! (Don’t tell my kids I said that)
wanderingchanaParticipantRight now Binah is running a serial called “Blimele Among the Romanis”. Seems their own crazy little world is alive and well…
wanderingchanaParticipantFeif Un, that may be too long. “Proud MO” might work better or something like that.
wanderingchanaParticipantVelcro

January 12, 2011 4:24 am at 4:24 am in reply to: Who Thinks Mid-Winter Vac. Should Be Banned? #728702wanderingchanaParticipantmore modern = days off in late Dec – early Jan
wanderingchanaParticipantAsk a mod to put your clever subtitle there.
wanderingchanaParticipantNever in my dreams could I ever have imagined my life being what it is today. There are challenges every for sure, some harder than others, but to be living a frum life and raising frum children B”H KAH? Never saw it coming.
wanderingchanaParticipantI’m sorry too.
January 12, 2011 3:16 am at 3:16 am in reply to: STOP YELLING!!And don't(smack)hit(smack)your sister!!(smack) #727966wanderingchanaParticipantI agree 1000%!!
wanderingchanaParticipantI would say that those who have seen it would agree that it’s a massive chillul Hashem, and those who don’t or can’t see it, should look in the mirror… and not just on airplanes.
wanderingchanaParticipantIf you want their behavior to change, maybe you should directly challenge them. “What do you need?” or “is there something I can help you with?” or even better “What are you looking for?”
January 10, 2011 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm in reply to: Who Thinks Mid-Winter Vac. Should Be Banned? #728661wanderingchanaParticipantIs there a Great Wolf somewhere that has separate hours for males and females?
wanderingchanaParticipantI’ve been edited! I’ve arrived! (I don’t think I would have noticed if you hadn’t said so, LOL)
wanderingchanaParticipantI’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. (But neither while driving)
wanderingchanaParticipantAre you talking about not shaking hands with members of the opposite gender, or shaking hands with anyone period?
My pet peeve is the limp fish handshake. Come on, don’t take two fingers as if you think the other person has a communicable disease. A moderately firm yet brief grasp is polite in a business setting (but not with the opposite gender OF COURSE).
