ChanieE- I agree, I can look online, none of the local establishments are hiring/ will drop my application because I can’t work on shabbos.

Any other ideas? I have done everything I can think of but I am in a really tough situation. Unless I am guaranteed a job in ny I can’t go there even for interviews

I actually e-mailed someone who is going to look into creating a position for me (a person I have known for four years now, so I was completely comfortable mentioning this) and said that since I had issues with other Jewish organizations doing this to me, that I just wanted to clarify that it needs to be a paid position, and stated my current goals and needs (which he already knew before the initial e-mail… heck, I know so many people in real life that I haven’t even touched base with everyone I was close with before seminary since I got back and I have been back for over two months!

HELP ME? I almost did that after pesach, but my job fell through. Look, I am not here to beg for money, but I really need it…

I understand that, but I feel that if they made me fill out TAX FORMS, then they must pay me. Now they have my social security number and for no reason at all.

I am 19, no seminary credits, no college credits, but to be honest with you, I need to move out of my house, and I need to subsidize my daily expenses, and therefore, literally, cannot afford to be a chessed girl. I have spent a number of years volunteering, and I have had paid jobs (I am angry, and I apologize if the tone in this section was condescending).

In terms of positions I am looking for, I don’t live in Denver, or New York, and we have established that my town is having a yeshivat maharat person speak (or already spoke) at a shul that does not have a mechitza whose rabbi graduated from YCT. I am looking for just about any position that pays. I don’t have a car, and we have not yet established the public transportation options for my area, so I will leave that up to you all to keep on guessing. My ultimate goal as of now is to be a preschool teacher, however, I am still trying to put together the college picture, and from where I am standing, it looks like I will be responsible for paying for my college education. Ideally, I would like to work in a Jewish place, but the reality is that I will work anywhere except for churches, mosques, treif restaurants as long as I can take off of work for shabbosim and yamim tovim.

Plus, I can’t afford on a financial level to be Batsheva Kanievsky, and even she had a job for money.

I think many people can use therapy as well. Most normal people What ever that means tend to go through certain periods of time that are very difficult due to significant life changes. In my case I have very significant life changes more frequently than most people my age I know because I am in a very unique position. You would not just write whatever you want inside your mezuzah you would get professional parchment and a Rabbi to install them. And you get them checked every few years. If the mezuzah is like your emotions.then theoretically everyone will need an emotional checkup every once in a while. Nothing wrong with it.

He should, but not everyone thinks that way. Unfortunately, people don’t care most of the time unless it is a car accident (Chas Ve’shalom).

Most overnight camps seem to be in the country side. The zone is also in the country side, that just makes going to walmart that much more fun.

one of my former camp counselors had the same situation happen to her, so she had to while she was in undergrad work in day camp sections of overnight camps in order to be able to have time to take online courses. Then when she graduated, she was able to work with teenagers.

    Look in the folowing places:

    Parnassa Network website

Contact a Vocational placement organization in your community (most Jewish communities have them, they should offer free services).

Take the OU job board course on quickbooks.

Look at the OU job board daily.

Get a Linkedin account if you have not done so already, you never know what connections you will run into.

The key here is to put yourself out there and continue to update your skill set, even if you choose to do so in small ways (such as getting a certificate through the OU quickbooks course of proficiency in Quickbooks… The course starts on May 28th!!!).

I feel that teenagers, and I am assuming you are in tenth grade, should be more focused on healthy eating and exercising than dieting on programs such as weight watchers. I have occasional weight problems myself, and when I go slightly over weight, I know I am not exercising enough. I walk on a typical day 7-8 miles to keep my metabolism going (I am 19 years old), when I was younger, I would walk like ten miles every shabbos (day!!). Sometimes, I can still find time to walk ten miles, but I never walk the whole thing at once. I walk maybe two miles every couple of hours, it takes me 20 minutes per mile, sometimes less. Power walk whenever possible, it really makes the difference.

Walk around the block increasing the distance every other day. Around one block for two days, then around two blocks for two days, then one block morning, and two blocks evening for days five and six. Then seven and eight, two blocks morning and two blocks night, and increase from there.
