ubiquitin, and others, Sorry. I never meant it to be definitive. But I do remember hearing a lot about this topic, using secular dates (Teshuvas Chasam Sofer maybe). Certainly calling it, defining it as a new year would be worse. Then there’s this issue of what that date signifies. If it’s in reference to Yoshke or”b (of rotted bones), then there’s this aspect of moda/ mokir avodah zara c”v.

I’m by far no halachaknician, not by any stretch of imagination, just saying…

I take issure with the very last statement, “… a happy new year filled with health and success”
But us Yidden (Jews, for the uneducated), we have one MAIN Rosh Hashana, three other ones. I doubt this secular date is included.

True, there was a certain Tzaddik how would say a special bracha to HaShem on this “new year”, certainly not is the same vein. It’s not our new year at all. We are not allowed to consider it as such. החודש הזה לכם ראש חדשים, that is ours, and JUST that is ours. Actually the יונים, like from the Chanuka story, every one knows, they tried to do away with Rosh Chodesh… We held on. And we continue to do so.

    My 1.5 sense…

    Many things wrong here

First and foremost is little me calling out others. Who do I think I am. Am I the one to pass judgment on others?!? Of all people I should be the one laying low, I have MUCH to repair before offering anything to others.

But as the Gemarah says (somewhere, I’m sure) in the face of Chilul HaShem, all else matters little, so I HAVE TO speak up here.

    1) Bad mouthing others and especially a community on a social outlet (written, printed, electrical) is a tremendous Chilul HaShem. Where is affects someone or worse, a group, goes on the dangerous path of Mesira, where those in the past were dealt with according to the especial halachos in Shulcah Aruch. And vdi lechakima brimiza. NOTHING TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. Reporters of the Jewish verity have a dangerous occupation, besides their clientele they have to give an accouting to the Great Master Up There. Hilchos Shmiras Halashon are more, much more, dire when disseminating and broadcasting to the public. And especially about a community.

    2) I don’t think Klal Yisroel voted or signed up to have a new “gadol” speak (or wreak havoc) for themselves. Our true leaders are known to have a head on their shoulders, to think things through first. And most of our true leaders are known to have done things obtrusively, quietly, behind the scenes, without the fanfare or rah rah of the cameras or reporters. See where all this has lead… A national chilul HaShem on major national news outlets. When one chooses to replace daas Torah with …. only disastrous results will occur R”L.

Have our youth totally descended to the level of those BLM hooligans?!? Watching pictures of those tiere Yidden behaving like those animals… so disgusting… so reviling… so nauseating… Is there really no difference between the behavior of the Chosen Nation to that of the lowest dregs of society?!? Even those chants are taken from them… “..no peace…” Feh. Times one million. Where and how have we sunk so low. Is there really no shepherd for our blind lost sheep?!? Sad. Very very sad.

What’s so bad about learning Torah. Plain. Without the prestige… fanfare… just some good old Torah (Taireh, Toyruh, Tooraah) Lishma. Anywhere. For HaShem’s sake. Nobody to see you… nobody to ooh and ahhh… Not even to “shteig” and become a “somebody”. Just learning for it’s OWN sake… Great idea..

Three and a half answers to you very good question. Let me try…

#1) Our communities and basically all of the metropolitan area (I think) had it already in one form or another. The missed opportunity to prevent this at the VERY ONSET is what made it spread like wildfire. Once we all caught it (about Purim time), self isolating, quarantining and distancing was way too late. It could be argued the in fact it did NOTHING AT ALL for us – we all caught it in the following weeks regardless. And there is very strong evidence that once you caught it – the antibody thing – you’re not gonna get it again. At all. So basically there’s NOTHING AT ALL FOR US TO WORRY ABOUT AT THIS POINT (most of us)

#2) At some point one has to make some sort of cheshbon, a conclusion, that the merits of “breathing” outweigh the concerns of this distancing thing. People are going off the edge. Take a look at society lately (or rather don’t bother) … When too many people are layed off.. when too many people (call them what you like) have plenty of time on their hands… you’re creating a most dangerous situation. These nincompoops sitting in their large offices, the once who think they’re the most important, most informed, most knowledgeable in their “fields”, they don’t take this into consideration. And that’s why America looks like it does. The looting, burning down stores and cities, pulling down statues… and EVERYONE’S FOLLOWING THEM LIKE BLIND SHEEP. They have the platform today… because they have the mobs backing them… because there’s nothing else to do. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. And if they don’t do something pretty soon … בטלה מביא לידי שעמום, Chazal knew human nature more than anyone living today. LIFE MUST RETURN TO NORMAL NOW!!!

#3) These clueless “leaders” are just that. So wishy washy. The only way to get them to say something or do something is by getting President Trump to say or do the opposite! And they’re trying to hold on to any vestige of power still in their power hungry hands. Full of agendas. 15 debriefings a day.. the mayor, the governor, this baal ga’ah, that know it all — day in day out.

    In Japan there’s a saying:
    GENUG IS GENUG!

in reply to: Summer Camps in a Pandemic?! #1876826

These nincompoops in power have to realize that keeping kids on the street is a bigger danger, both to the kids and to society. Do you think the “demonstrations” happened by itself? The firecracker pandemic? “Defund the police?” It’s a whole segment of people with plenty of time on their hands.. As the Mishnah states boredom leads to idiocy, insanity. And we are seeing it right before our eyes. If this continues, America will be taken dismantled… Actually it IS coming apart!

So the question is do we kill the people in order to save them?!? These haughty “professionals”, “experts” are, at best, single minded individuals who know nothing out of what their field is or was. They may know something about how the virus spreads (actually we see daily how little they know, things change so fast back and forth. The latest of their findings change direction almost DAILY!). But they don’t know what the effects of locking people up, especially children, for endless month. Made to stare at the ceiling from morning to night, seven days a week. One month. Two months. Three months. And counting!!!

Second note – the camps actually submitted an excellent proposition and plan how the camps would operate; they stated that they would quarantine IN CAMP, and not let any contact with the campers. To any sensible person that’s far better than having a day camp where children mingle AND THEN ARE SENT HOME DAILY – to further spread the virus. Only an individual with a head screwed on backwards – OR SOMEONE WITH AN AGENDA – thinks that quarantining in camp is worse than letting it out.

I don’t know why the Jewish Camp Association doesn’t get me to fight for them. I’d let those who think they’re in power have an earful – and then some!! SOMEONE HAS TO SOUND OUT!

CA, For the time being (until someone on the top of the totem pole gets the message) we cannot allow for children C”V to go on the busses (or buses, actually even both). But we CAN drive them without children to Albany and slowly march around town, all 5,000 of them, slowly circling around the streets. One day, two days… maybe someone over there would realize that it’s not such a good idea to keep camps closed.

BTW 5,000 buses isn’t so much, every Mosad could send in maybe 5 or 10. As a side benefit, maybe clear up some parking space…

Another thought popped into my (extra bored) head. Why not send a petition to President Trump to ban overnight camps. That will certainly do the trick.

אי”ה by Shavuos it will be over.

The first Shabbos in all the Shuls will be spectacular. NOT A PEEP! The entire Davening. EVERY SHUL!! Many will try to augment and savor that spectacular feeling, there will be Kabolos in many Shuls not to talk by Davening. To give HaShem His proper due respect – one positive outcome of this tzara.

Also this Shabbos Kria will be quite long. It will be Vayakhel – Pekudai – Vayikra – Tzav – Shemini – Tazria – Metzorah – Acharei – Kedoshim – Emor – Bhar – Bechukosai – Bamidbar – Naso. (since the majority of Yidden did not have Keria since.

There will be many, many Gomels, maybe even the ENTIRE congregation – since anyone alive was literally in the situation and place of dire Sakana – and got saved. (I’ll leave this decision up to the Rabonim)

Then there will be a Kiddush – a Kiddush to remember. No – not for the food and drinks, but for the words of thankfulness and gratitude to the Ribono Shel Olam for ending this terrible plague. For the words of Chizuk offered at the occasion. For the warm (may I dare think it?) HANDSHAKES, HUGS, KISSES, ETC. , for human interaction and connection. For the resumption of humans to live as humans!!!

I see it coming (I have that crystal thingy). One day we’re going to be able to smile in public, and offer one another a hearty handshake!! That day is coming. Closer, closer. Ever so close.

    OOOOOO!!!!

Oh do I remember this one!!! This is one of those questions that come around from year (or maybe 2, or maybe 3 or maybe 4, but definitely not 5) years. That’s how I gauge how much time (what’s that?) has passed. So if I remember correctly from last time, the first answer is that I don’t comment here. That answers all questions.

The second answer is mostly to drive people off the web, back into the world of reality – of people, places and things. So when I go and rant my mind off, that in of itself is a great incentive.

The third answer is the sometimes I may THINK I have something important enough to broadcast to the world at large, something I felt the world is just waiting for…

Fourth – sometimes just a quip, a joke (r”l) or a line, maybe a word of Chizuk, something to share with another, something which to brighten up another person’s day. A kind word, a virtual smile / giggle, a thoughtful piece of comfort… Bringing a lift to another, to changes another’s bleak, dismal outlook to that of a bright, sunny future…

Olam Chesed Yibaneh – that’s what we’re all here for, no?

    Thank you, all.

I feel lately like I’ve joined in and participated with צרת הכלל. I found out what I need a head for (where else would you put an ongoing pounding headache?), the lungs and etc.

Hallucinating forever in bed, I gained another insight into the words וחכמים כבלי מדע, ונבונים כבלי השכל.
Imagine – so many organizations and centers, bureaus, offices and divisions all charged with keeping our world safe. They’re all preparing bedavka for such a scenario… such an occurrence… years and years, study after study, universities after universities – all in guard to ward off such a massive catastrophe. What is the WHO for? CDC? And all the rest. All the brains, from the top medical advisor all the way to the bottom. WHERE ARE THEY?!? And a lot of them saw it coming (as will be unveiled to the public in the coming days, months, when each entity knew what), and did not or could not do anything to prevent this.

There’s this famous clip of the PM in Eretz Yisroel being interviewed by a secularist and HE says something about davening to HaShem… The matzav is definitely causing a lot of people to realize that אין לנו להישען אלא על אבינו שבשמים.

At the precise time He deems fit, a cure / remedy / vaccine will be discovered. I beg you, HaShem, please make it quickly. Too many karbanos.

If you want to fast from today till next doomsday it’s fine with me, or most people, don’t spew your contorted ideas on others… Yes, everyone knows its a time for teshuva, no need to cash in on it (like every time something happed…) There are true Gedolim who we follow, who we listen to… No one call for fasting – actually REAL Gedolim stated to the contrary – one should absolutely NOT fast in a time like this.

    And another:

I remember watching some time ago a debate with someone about the era of Mashiach. And the guy asked the Rabbi “Do you really believe the whole world is going to collapse or maybe some otherworldly disaster or occurrence will descend from above”? And the Rabbi replied that he doesn’t know exactly how it would unfold, only that we’ll know when it happens.

Yes, it IS unfolding right here (and there and everywhere) before our very own eyes! Something so NATURAL AND SPECTACULAR! Both, together, concurrently. HaShem is using his very natural nature to show his might and glory! ואין מידי מציל, no technical advances can defeat His will, no scientific developments will overcome His bidding. עד עת בא דברו, until He wills it, until He sends His word forth…then the בורא רפואות can and will send (by simple discovery or difficult, complicated experimentations ) a medicine or vaccination, or just make it disappear!!!

    And another thought:

Recognize the influence and affect of one bad, evil contact. There are one million healthy people and all you need is just one infected to cause all of them to catch it. No amount of health, no strength in numbers (majority) is going to help. Only cleanliness, removal of the effect – disinfecting, isolation etc., where one removes the germ in its entirety. Once it enters – it’s a different story…

So too, the hashpoah of a bad neighbor, acquaintance, friend, contact. Just as a thousand tahor utensils won’t clean a tamai one, to the contrary – they all become tamai from the lone tamai one…

(if this doesn’t end soon… I’m going to be at this until…)

    ubiquitin:

Sorry for that long winded derasha, Certainly did not mean it to be “lofty” or anything of that sort.

To clarify, of course I pick the better of the two… And there are two issues I’d like to further clarify:
#1) He doesn’t go around throwing, spewing and broadcasting his lifestyle upon us. A goy, like all other goyim, some with a bit more, some with a bit less.. nothing for a Yid to admire. Again, as Rabbi Miller זצ”ל says over and over, the best of אומות העולם cannot hold a candle the the lowest of עם הקודש. But the mere fact he doesn’t turn it into some “pride”, that of itself is something.
#2) He’s OUR PRESIDENT now. And Chazal say גם במדעך מלך אל תקלל, I think it surely applies to our sitting President. We don’t curse or bad-mouth him.
#3) As someone else mentioned, his views aren’t skewed, they’re more aligned with an upright, moral standard of lifestyle. As opposed to the others who are so open headed and mindless. Right and wrong are so skewed… They’re worried about a planet they “claim” is sinking while they disregard their morals which has sunk.. to the depths…

in reply to: Bloomberg or Trump? #1833123
    Little Froggie

We, as Yidden (that’s ‘Jews’, for the uneducated), have to stand up for what’s moral, upright, upstanding. And our ‘neighbors’ acknowledge that, they expect us, as HaShem’s chosen people, to do so. And that’s why every misstep chalila makes it into the news. Because we have a higher standard, a higher calling – whether we like it or not. We’re expected to behave differently.

As a visibly identifiable Yid (again, that’s a Jew), we cannot condone nor disregard moral depravity. It has to be called out again and again. It has to be known that “while current U.S. law cannot forbid, nevertheless it is still utter depravity. And I abhor it and call it out in no uncertain terms. I know it and you know it too.” Yes, it’s freedom of speech. Standing up for what’s moral is not outlawed (YET). Let them hear it over and over again, just as much as the democrats and liberals try to spew THEIR filth onto us. Just as much as they’re trying to rip away at human society, at the last visage of Godly grace, צלם אלקים.

President Trump, with all his … notwithstanding, still appears to hold on to these last stands of decency. Think of the moral decisions he’s made whether abortions, toeva community, so-called climate concerns… He’s also used his guts to stand up to the nations and do what needed to be done, whether Israel, UN, Iran, North Korea, China. He’s got a spine like no other president I can remember, BECAUSE of his personality. While we may not necessarily like it, sometimes it seems a bit… it’s all tools the manner he presides. That’s the President HaShem has chosen for us, הממליך מלכים, and he comes with all his tools. And boy has he made a splash – in the right direction.

These other no-gooders (dems, libs, וכל טמא לנפש), are just concerned with their power, their own agenda which is to wipe off the last visage of shame from human society. Anything’s ok. Just do your one thing. And then turn it into a pride!! Hear that?! Turn shame into pride. Disgusting. And then these nincompoops who want to tear down human society, are so concerned about climate change. (For those who don’t recall – first it was global warming… but when proven that there’s nothing to substantiate that claim, they turned their mission to climate change. Like in the olden times the weather didn’t change!) Which again, all these Copenhagen chachmei Chelm notwithstanding, there’s nothing to back their claim either. No – AOC and Co. – the world is not going away in twelve years! Unless Brooklyn is from some other planet, I don’t see it sinking.

What is sinking at an alarming rate is basic human decency. But OH. And Duh! That’s what dems and libs are all about.
