uneeqParticipantcrisisoftheweek: These stories of “miracles” happen on a bell curve. WE tend to only pay heed to the ones where the results are “spooky” and indicative of some super natural ability.
Speak for yourself. I never personally heard a Gadol say anything spooky in my life before, and I never heard stories of R’ Chaim ever yelling out Hashem Yeracheim. That’s the reason I kept the paper with the names. While I do believe in the power of gedolim, honestly I was kinda testing to see if something bad would end up happening. It happened, and my belief has been strengthened- not only in their powers, but also in Hashem.
December 19, 2012 7:57 pm at 7:57 pm in reply to: A bit bothered by some advertisements in frum publications #1009196uneeqParticipantThere seems to be two possible issues that posters are suggesting:
A) Frum businesses shouldn’t be advertising things that don’t fit so well with Jewish values.
B) That people shouldn’t be buying wildly expensive things even if they have the money for it, and even if they give a lot of tzedaka
To which I answer-
A) A big reason for advertising, especially in jewelry and fashion, is to create an “image” of a brand or company, and not necessarily to sell the pictured item. Showing images of high priced items gives the consumer the idea that the store is high class, which leads regular consumers into their store when looking for a nice watch of any price.
B) There’s no issur of buying expensive watches, clothing, etc. Additionally, expensive watches have an extremely high resell value (unlike the Ferrari’s that posters keep mentioning), and can also be bought for investment too. I know one person who had $1.5 million worth of watches, each one 30-40k and up, most of which were not even worn.
C) Mind your own business.
December 19, 2012 9:40 am at 9:40 am in reply to: A bit bothered by some advertisements in frum publications #1009180uneeqParticipantDY: Well said. I object the OP for a additional reason though. Many people have the money and buy the watches as an investment. Usually these type of watches especially when they have gold or diamonds, go up in value over the years. I was told that certain watches even after being used will still sell for the same value in couple of years. Many people like to diversify their assets, and this is just one of the ways to do it.
Unless there is an issur of wearing a nice watch that I don’t know of, I think they are doing no wrong.
uneeqParticipantThe mashigiach can walk in on Shabbos too. And a non-Jewish owner can operate on shabbos last time I checked.
Kashrus agencies do the same all the time when certifying factories that run 24/7. Once in a while, the mashgiach stays at a hotel that is within walking distance to the factory and makes a surprise visit on shabbos.
uneeqParticipantCrisis: All that is written on the paper is refua shelema, the name eliyahu Ben leah and one other name. Now, I’m not sure that the power is that he can see right away the fate of every name that he sees.
I do not know if he has ruach hakodesh, whatever that term means nowadays. What I do know is that he sees thousands of names of people every day that have non-terminal illnesses, with maybe a percent of them that won’t survive.
For me, it is the power of a gadol to have a much greater clarity of the future than regular people.
uneeqParticipantJames Bond: Thanks! I never knew that!
What about the tags though? They don’t show up in new threads.
December 18, 2012 7:02 pm at 7:02 pm in reply to: A Halachic problem you likely never thought of #913857uneeqParticipantIs it muttar to read this thread in the bathroom?
uneeqParticipantAYC: I don’t know if you’re referring specifically to your posts as not prying. Though there are definitely posters such as Joseph and one of his alter egos that repeatedly attempted and succeeded in prying personal information from brooklyn19 and her cousin moish.
uneeqParticipantkkls: My question was a sincere question, because many of my friends had gotten instagram accounts and i wanted to know if it was really that bad if i got one to.
Your question can be asked in this forum. But it takes time to be able to figure out how to ask a question properly, not to sound like someone who wants to stir up controversy.
When anyone asks- is “X” bad? – Where “X” is Facebook/internet/stalking or anything that could be controversial, it is assumed that the poster would like to get a argument started.
If honestly you would like to hear the debate, because you are unsure if X is good or bad, be sincere and explain in the OP why you are in doubt and people will respond to your thread.
Oh, and some advice as a former user of Instagram. Don’t use it.
uneeqParticipantSyag: I don’t know what you saw in my posts- that I think anything is funny about the stalking story.
Regarding your post in the other (closed) thread, again I do not understand what you take offense of. I am not provoking any machloikes in the slightest way. There is not one person that is defending ZK, including I. Do you really consider revealing a creepy stalkers public history as “stirring controversy”?
The CR mods still have some things to answer, for example, if they knew about ZK stalking for over a year already, why haven’t they blocked him out back then? Were they expecting ZK to only stalk aries and other posters that aren’t clueless?
The mods have decided to leave us in the dark (as per a mod admitting that they only let out 1% of the story) about ZK and Joseph to the point that everything around us has blurred, and any poster can be seen as Joseph.
Maybe the CR should just be renamed the Joseph Room, because that’s what every other thread over turns into a discussion about.
uneeqParticipantDY: Thanks, I didn’t know that before, but it doesn’t save me any steps. I would like to click on the thread from the main Coffee Room page and automatically be directed to the latest post.
uneeqParticipantBUMP!
uneeqParticipantHaJoseph, which mod are you?
uneeqParticipantQuail, if that’s not what Toi meant.
Quahog
Quince
Queso
Quisp Cereal
Quaaludes
Quark
Quinnat Salmon
Quenelle
Queensland nut
Queenfish
Quavers
Quaking pudding
Quamash
Quark cheese
Quarter Pounder
uneeqParticipantkkls: At first, I thought you to be a troll, based on the fact that your first posts were very troll-ish, especially the Instagram thread. You also got bent about the Instagram thread, claiming the CR mods to have a double standard when it is obvious why they don’t let your thread. Add in the fact that you’re a new user, and you fit the the classic John Troll persona.
Now, I see that you were just ignorant of basic forum etiquette, and I will further judge you favorably.
Ps. You may want to google a little bit about internet trolls. You’ll understand the reason why the CR is very nasty to them.
uneeqParticipantSingle Daled.
uneeqParticipantThis shmendrick started 5 troll threads in just one week. What does it take to get him blocked?
uneeqParticipantDY: I don’t have knowledge in regards to everyone having a zivug, though there’s a small but interesting piece in the Chasam Sofer O”C 54 where he mentions that someone can lose their zivug.
uneeqParticipantBump bump
Zees, you won’t win any sympathy like that.

But what bothers me is: why do they let Obama repeatedly shed crocodile tears on TV?
uneeqParticipantIf this type of problem is bothering you, consider yourself lucky.
uneeqParticipantTwisted: so with the german tune uninversally spread among ashkenazim, are we all descendant/ branched from the Yekkes?
Yes, in the same way that we all are descendants of the Sephardic R’ Shlomo Alkabetz from Tzfat.
uneeqParticipantDon’t be humble… you’re not that great.
Golda Meir
uneeqParticipantIIRC, a teacher of mine was a part time Mashgiach for OU. He mentioned that they have the ability to recall a product whenever they need to. I also remember him saying that OU takes a collateral to guarantee that if a company starts pulling funny business, OU has the ability to properly advertise the loss of Kashrut. The company he was talking about had a $70,000 collateral.
Also, I agree with Popa in regards to getting misled by the labeling. Nowadays, almost all flavors are fake that nothing is surprising anymore. We have sour cream flavored chips in Israel which are quite good that are pareve. If the ingredients said anything different I wouldn’t have noticed.
I guess what some posters are tayning is that OU doesn’t have so much ne’emonus in the first place; so it’s really Popa’s fault for not doing some lab research before eating.
uneeqParticipantActually its HANUKKAH with an H at the end. Google it!
uneeqParticipantKkls: Joseph is known as the g-d of (unsuccessful) trolling. Anytime someone attempts and fails to troll the CR, they get crowned with the honorary title “The Spirit of Joseph McTrollster”, which has been shortened to, Joseph.
Being awarded the Joseph title has its perks too. Every year there is an additional ceremony which awards “Joseph of the Year” to Josephs greatest imitators.
Anyways, keep up the great work, like your amazingly bad Instagram troll, and we’ll have you nominated for that coveted Joseph of the year award in no time.
uneeqParticipantYatzmichMy knee jerk reaction would be to call you out for exaggerating and stereotyping, until I remembered that, unfortunately, you’re not so far off from reality.
uneeqParticipant“Alternatively, you might want to check out this weeks hamodia and yated there is a two page spread dealing with this issue.”
Where we can hear the same exact nonsense that you are spreading here. Great.
uneeqParticipantLike letting threads about Facebook but not Instagram
If it wasn’t a troll post it would’ve been approved, Joseph.
uneeqParticipantDerech: I’ll agree to disagree. Our conscience isn’t a good enough barometer though when it comes to keeping the mitzvos. Or else certain mitzvos such as shiluach hakan wouldn’t exist.

Lets see if all he does is speak of the importance of heavy tights and danger of secular magazines.”
It would obviously be assur to visit one who is chashud for arayos in such a manner. Though, being chashud doesn’t mean one is guilty (or innocent.)

Cool name, bro.
uneeqParticipantIt doesn’t say any last names on there if it helps.
uneeqParticipantI think you would fit fine in Rain Tree. But don’t take my word for it, check it out well before you make any decisions.
Is there anyone from that neighborhood in this forum?
uneeqParticipantHakatan: Please don’t feed the troll.
uneeqParticipantDerech: The issue is that our conscience tells us that things are wrong even when things aren’t wrong. It is very logical to try to find some clear-cut reason why something is wrong as to not have to deal with an eternal internal battle. I have personally always found it easier to break a certain action of mine, if I was convinced of its wrongness in black and white fashion.
uneeqParticipantWhat do you mean? I spelled hanukka the same way you did!?
I’m not sure if it drives my wife crazy, though it definitely drove me crazy.
uneeqParticipantI was in Rain Tree for a shabbos a while back and really enjoyed it. It was chilled out and relaxing. I stayed at friend that loves it there and isn’t yeshivish at all and is even leaning modern.
I have another friend that lives there that isn’t yeshivish that likes it there. My totally unyeshivish brother would live there if his wife would let.
The question remains, what are you looking for?
December 11, 2012 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm in reply to: Throwing bleach at R' Nuchem Rosenberg to achieve justice? #912371uneeqParticipantIt’s funny that you’ve only been commenting machloikes-inducing posts on a website that bills itself as Yeshiva World.
I suggest you find yourself an appropriate blog that can accommodate to your tastes.
uneeqParticipantTorah613: Thanks. Tonight I tried Im Eshkochaich by Yaakov Shwekey. It works perfect. I think Racheim works too, but it can sound too depressing for Hanukka.
uneeqParticipantSeahorse, your welcome.
December 11, 2012 8:36 pm at 8:36 pm in reply to: Why Hasn't YWN Reported The Webberman Trial? #912230uneeqParticipantYichusdik: What statement of mine are you responding to? Do you mention me, because I’m not on the offense against the perp? I am actually leaning to him being guilty, but since there is so many different versions of what is ACTUALLY going on in the case, I will leave the judging to the judge and jury, and the articles to the NY Post.o
If anyone could find me a professionally written article that explains the entire story and court case, and not just some one sided blogger ranting against orthodox jews, I will be very thankful.
uneeqParticipantJMH- Thanks, but I’m fine now. I used to have a yetzer hara to log back on, which automatically reinstated my account. Nowadays, I never even think about facebook anymore.
uneeqParticipantDear Popa Bar Abby,
I’m a big fan! What I’d like to know is the following:
Do you really have a room full of trolls coming out with new CR posts? I know that the advice column is written strictly by you, but rumor has it that PBA is a conglomerate mix of some the greatest troll minds of our times. What do you have to say about those rumors?
Sincerely,
Trollfan 2012 (because there won’t be a 2013)
uneeqParticipantI had a Facebook account a looooong time ago. Oh, how I was so upset that it’s impossible to delete. But I’ve been off for at least 5 consecutive years now.

uneeqParticipantOOM: I think you exaggerate the method of selection that WIY uses. He doesn’t sound like he dates the one supermodel out of a 1000 girls. There are certain girls a person wouldn’t wanna date on first looks, and that may be figured out many times from a picture. He may even whittle down half his list like that.
At the end of the day, he has a big enough of selection that he can rely on G-d that there will be at least one girl with the right personality and Hashkafos out of the remaining girls.
December 11, 2012 3:58 pm at 3:58 pm in reply to: Why Hasn't YWN Reported The Webberman Trial? #912213uneeqParticipantIt YWN’s duty to NOT report a story that undoubtably has rechilus and loshon hora coming out from one of the sides. Both sides can’t be right in this case, so YWN would be publishing loshon hora no matter what position they take.
It is easier to refrain from posting than to try to tiptoe the line of loshon hora.
uneeqParticipantCheck out Rain Tree. It’s in Lakewood but without the quirks.
