RebYidd: Who said intentions are ALL that count? The point is good intentions, machshava tova, referring to mitzvos not the evil of the terrorists.
Uncle BenParticipantThanks geordie613.

February 5, 2016 12:52 am at 12:52 am in reply to: Things that people do wrong – halachically #1135977Uncle BenParticipantMik5: Re Mayim achronim, I am familiar with the Gra’s shita. The mesora among Chasidim is that a small amount of water is sufficient.
The point is that before criticizing find out if there other shitos out there.
February 5, 2016 12:47 am at 12:47 am in reply to: Things that people do wrong – halachically #1135976Uncle BenParticipantMik5: Re Tefillin below the hairline. I am aware of the Mishna Brura’s psak, however I also heard of a psak from a Rav in Pinsk (I can find out the name if you want) who held that rubo kekulo applies here and if most of the shel rosh is above the hairline he is yotze.

Uncle BenParticipantThe truth about teeth and how we can heal them without dentists (who by the way are technically teeth surgeons) can be found in Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel.
I warn you to be prepared to change your whole thought process regarding teeth.
Uncle BenParticipantWhy the bump? Is the superbowl coming up?
Uncle BenParticipantThat’s what you get for involving the mods in a game!
This is a game after all so we can set our own rules.
Therefore I hereby declare an unrecognized country invalid unless it is an inhabited region and known by that name. At this point in time I don’t believe Liberland qualifies.
Uncle BenParticipantNatal, Brazil
Uncle BenParticipantTel Aviv
Uncle BenParticipantOne issue not mentioned, is if one is looking for the unparalleled benefits of fermented fish-cod liver oil. As far as I know there is no such product available with a hechsher. The only option would be to use the capsules and rely on some combination of heterim.
February 1, 2016 12:02 am at 12:02 am in reply to: Things that people do wrong – halachically #1135942Uncle BenParticipant& Things that people do right?????
Uncle BenParticipantotbochur; You’re supposed to respond to the first name on a post, not the country.
Darfur, Sudan
Uncle BenParticipantQueen; I had to google that, that’s not a place (city state etc.), come on!
Nevada
Uncle BenParticipantZanzibar, Tanzania, Africa
Uncle BenParticipantLooks like we got lost here. The Queen; not sure who you’re responding to. oyvey; you’re not supposed to reuse names. Although we are not so strict about that rule because this is the sixth page of this thread, Yongzhou was just used 1 day ago. We have to have some minimum standards here. So if it’s on the same page, then let’s not repeat please.
Quacky; you say ukelele exists, as a place or as an instrument?
I am responding to Quacky.
Oak Park, Michigan
Uncle BenParticipantEarlier today there was a response to the Rechnitz speech in the YW mailbag. I can’t find it now. Anyone know to whither it vanished?
Uncle BenParticipantThe only appropriate entertainment would be a professional Badchan. Otherwise or in addition “make sure” the speakers are well prepared and not too boring. Warn all speakers to not start off their speech apologizing how unprepared or unqualified they are, because if they are then they shouldn’t be speaking. If they insist on speaking nonetheless and actually proclaim those silly disclaimers then they have just signaled most people to tune out.
Mazel Tov!
Uncle BenParticipantQuacky; Are you sure that’s not from the song “Noida Noida Noida, Noida Noida Noida, Noida Leshimcha Besoch Emunay, Bruchim Atem Lashem”?
Also I expected one of “yooz” guys to call me out on it. Come on nobody here heard of a ukelele?
Ames, Iowa
Uncle BenParticipantOK I see we have an issue here. My satirical posting of the non-existent Ukelele, Hawaii went totally unnoticed.
Any suggestions from the esteemed members of the geography board?
If we are going to just continue where we’re holding then I’ll post:
Zaire, Africa
Uncle BenParticipantUkelele, Hawaii
Uncle BenParticipantYonkers, NY
Uncle BenParticipantNeve Dekalim (Aza, Israel)
or if that’s disqualified due do it being destroyed,
New Milford (Bergen County, NJ)
Uncle BenParticipantIlwaco, (Washington, US)
Uncle BenParticipantHow did this go unnoticed for 2 years?
from The Little I Know: “In Skver, the minhag is that the “chosson’s” father does NOT attend the aufruf at all.”
I highly doubt that’s true! Why would the chosson’s father not attend?
Uncle BenParticipantLimassol, Cyprus
Uncle BenParticipantSalt Lake City? What size kehila is that? Is there a day school?
January 20, 2016 12:55 am at 12:55 am in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134246Uncle BenParticipantoyveygevalt: what does proficiency in dinay issur vheter have to do with teaching your’s or anyone’s children?
Uncle BenParticipantMadagascar (I know, I know Normalelectricar would be more politically correct, but that’s how it is!)

Uncle BenParticipantEither

or
Elmendorf (Texas) for geordie613
Uncle BenParticipantThere was a Rav Karelenstein from Eretz Yisroel who used to say Vaadim occasionally in the Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn in the late 80’s or early 90’s. Does anyone know what his first name was?
Uncle BenParticipantA
January 17, 2016 6:01 pm at 6:01 pm in reply to: Will there be Sephardi Chareidim in the next generation?? #1132990Uncle BenParticipantNot sure where you live, but in Flatbush I know there are vibrant sephardic chareidi kehilot and yeshibot. I used to tsulee frequently in the sephardic/edot hamizrach kenesiyot when I was in yeshiva there and I enjoyed the havara and nusach. I miss it now that i live in an entirely ahkenaz community.
Uncle BenParticipantNo you cannot make up your own rules.
The rules are; respond with a city, state, country etc. beginning with the last letter of the previous post. Officially your’e not supposed to repeat but since this thread is so long it’s difficult to ensure that
Timbuktu (Mali)
Uncle BenParticipantNo
Timbuktu (Mali)
Uncle BenParticipantGabon (Africa)
Uncle BenParticipantWelcome
Gothenberg, Sweden
Uncle BenParticipantHe’s Responding to “yfr” since “This name is already taken” posted the fictitious “Antiupeq”
Also “B1g B0y” there is no country called Ngozi in Africa. Identify which country it’s in (Burundi)not the continent!
Agadir, Morocco
Uncle BenParticipantOahu, Hawaii
Uncle BenParticipantVM How did you make it through the metal detector with all that rust?
