supergirl: the schools is Israel do not check the students, that’s why it’s much more common.
I heard synthetic vinegar (in Israel that’s the clear one as opposed to the yellow one) keeps the lice away. Also, combing through the hair with a lice comb and conditioner 2x a week will ensure that even if your child catches one or two it will be out before it can spread and reproduce.
Good Luck! (One of the lesser pleasant things abt living in Israel, nothing to do about it.)
ummMemberI have a citi mini and love it! Really reccomend it, if you’re looking for a good durable practiacal carriage that is. If you’re looking for “posh” than you may get a sleeker look, a little smoother ride… but you won’t find such a light-weight, east-to-fold, big basket, and it’s not very klutzy. Als o depends where and what you need it for.
ummMemberYou are here longer than me?! Mine will be 4 years in January, I don’t remember you in the early days. (Yeah I know u were mbochur then, but I still dont remember you being around so long ago)
ummMemberOkay, Ken, just so you don’t feel you wasted your time with that list, and I am American as is my parents and grandparents… how’s this for a start:
buggy – carriage/stroller
biscuit – cookie
courgette – zuchhini
full-stop – period
hoover – vacuum
ice-lolly – ices
jumper – sweater
kitchen-roll – papertowel
lorry – truck
motorway – highway
nappy – diaper
number-plate – license plate
petrol – gas
plaster – band-aid
postcode – zipcode
rubber – eraser
rubbish – garbage
rucksack – knapsack
sellotape – scotch tape
serviette – napkin
sweets – candies
trainers – sneakers
zed – letter ‘Z’
And what about: dressing gown, posh, dummy, cot, pram, trolly, pinafore, waistcoat, knickers, sausage, biro, cleaner, dustbin, saucepan… i’ll think of more later.
ummMemberLots of people would love to adopt, but can’t afford it. It’s VERY expensive.
ummMemberUh, icecream before you start with a new screenname you gotta decide what you will be posting as, a complexed highschool girl in america, a young woman in in Israel, a young husband or a bochur in a dorm (peerimsameach)… otherwise people might catch your lies.
ummMemberIt’s impossible!!!!!… I speak from expreience, unless you speak Hebrew fluently (where your English is a bonus)
ummMemberLOL! Caught red-handed!
ummMemberI’m still here reading… i must be the poster that’s on here the most but posts the least!
ummMemberI wonder how acurate that is. Chazal say one may daven for the gender of the vlad until 40 days after conception, we count from 2 weeks before conception, so you are talking about 4-5 weeks which is about 28-35 days, when the gender isn’t determined yet, so how can we test then?
ummMemberSorry, i didn’t realize this was a gown for your wedding!!! Firstly Mazel Tov, I didn’t read anywhere here that you’re engaged (Though seen plenty oon dating from you!) If you’re the Kallah, definitely DONT wear a shell!!! I thought for a sister or friend.
You may be saving money, but you’re also taking a risk that it won’t work out, that would be a waste of money too. Whatever you choose to go with good luck! and mazel tov again, enjoy!
ummMemberBH I was able to have both: I am a working mom and a stay at home mom, I work from home: in the afternoon when kids are out, and evening when kids are sleeping.
ummMemberI’ve seen gowns like that and they never look/lie right. I would reccomend just adding straps (looks much less added) and wearing a shell underneath.
August 1, 2011 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm in reply to: Tipping when the service is terrible. (or not there at all) #792692ummMemberYou tip, even though you don’t want to.
The same reason why, when someone steps on your toe with a really high and pointy heel, and really hurts you badly, but when they ask ‘are you okay’ you force a smile and say ‘yeah sure’ instead of what you really want to say: “NO!! you just killed me, get those ridiculous things off your feet, or mind your step and how much do you weigh anyway…”
ummMemberIt’s true, all the apartments I’ve been in (i’d say at least 50) have windows on the doors, old and new alike. They say it’s so that you don’t have to keep extra lights on, there is adequate light from the hallway (especially for a whole shabbos)
ummMemberShev143: “We need to educate the masses to reach out to someone who has noone. If you see someone in Shul who’s lonely, talk to them.
You will save a life. If not a lost child’s, then that lost 36 year old soul, whom noone took a little time of their day to say hello to.”
Actually I’ve heard of people being mekarev him and inviting him for shabbos meals… why do you think no one tried to be nice to him? I’ve heard from more than one that people did try to reach out to him (and are freaking out right now with the latest turn of events!)
July 13, 2011 6:47 pm at 6:47 pm in reply to: Death Penalty For the Murder of Leiby Kletzky….. #785829ummMemberaries: I was thinking the same thing from early this morning (He really looks like he’s waiting for him on the corner, and the fact that he begged his parents just on this particular day) But it seems the police and everyone else thinks/knows otherwise.
ummMemberMs. Critique: Actually Reb. Kaplan asked in her will that no one name after her, she didn’t want anyone to suffer from their name. Every time I hear of a Vichna, I can’t understand it.
(Even if she wouldn’t have written this, never give a child a name you yourself wouldn’t want to be called.)
ummMemberOh! and I thought this would give tips on how to stay within your budget! 🙁
ummMemberOMG – we really do need a cocoa room.
ummMemberBecause they lose their patience faster, they can do a babysitting ‘stint’ but cant do it for an ongoing period of time. (it’s not worth it for us either!)
ummMemberThursday night is pizza night here too! Otherwise, only if it’s been too hectic to make supper, of course special occasions (birthday, anniversary..) and first 3 months of pregnancy!! (for HIM, i can’t even look at food!)

ummMemberThere is a great hotel in the Jewish part of Amsterdam, 4/5 star, but it’s much cheaper because the Jewish part isn’t in the city center so it’s not as sought after. It’s called NH Musica, very nice staff, modern hotel. We loved it there. Across the street is a kosher pizza shop, (restaurant a little further) right behind is a grocery. Shul not far either. I really recommend it!
ummMemberI didn’t just get threats, my elementary school teacher was called for information, (she was a friend of the family’s) and she bad-mouthed me.. but like someone said if it’s bashert, nothing can stop a shidduch, the things my in-laws heard, and then still continued on with the shidduch! To be fair, there was a drop of truth in what she said, which she exagerated 10x over, but people CAN change in a decade!!!! (I’ll never forget her face when she met me married, she looked like she wanted to bury herself!!)
ummMemberI’ve been to many airports in the world, the worst experience I’ve had was in Rome, I just don’t remember which airport in Rome, but was very confusing and very unhelpful, it took us forever to find our way.

ummMemberHey, really was excited when I saw your name back, you always wrote stories that got a smile or chuckle outta me!!! WELCOME and please stick around!! (Will squeak be back with you too?)
Wasn’t sure if it was you, or a new user with same name – and then saw your dating story, so figured it’s you!
ummMemberI BH do not have to say yizkor, but chanced upon this thread and want to tell you all thank you, for making me appreciate something i usually take for granted – my parents! Thank you!
ummMemberI’m gald it wasn’t closed yet, I just had to say thank you ZK for the smile, I was pretty down, serious… dunno what you wanna call it and just reading the title certainly lightened my mood!! Really funny!
ummMemberHEY! You tryin to steal my identity?!?!?!
ummMemberWhatrutalkingabt: What are YOU talking about??? You haven’t been here in a while, TWO bdrm goes for $13-1400 and 3 bedrooms, if you’re LUCKY you’ll get for $1650!!! It’s crazy, but that’s the price!
ummMemberHealth: Thank you but I know about joseph, I am a memeber for three years (i just don’t post that much) Grandmaster is Joseph? I must’ve missed that.
ummMemberI had a CD years ago that i loved! called “mamma” english choir, anyone know if you can purchase it anywhere anymore?
ummMemberOh my, I just stumbled on this thread, I’m having major stress recently, resulting in crazy migraines… and just yesterday I started getting crazy toothaches! I thought it was a cavity or maybe as veteran thought “b’shaa tova”, but now I see it may be related to stress.
I never knew toothaches can come from stress. I think I grind at night from stress because when I’m stressed my tongue gets “withered” which my dentist says is a result from grinding, but actual toothaches I never knew (maybe I should cancel the cleaning appt I just scheduled and take a vacation with that money instead!!)
ummMemberI am zonked too!!!! And I always clean before the cleaning lady comes! My husband thinks it’s not worth having her, but this way I’m on top of things AT LEAST twice a week, and she does the dirty work i.e. bath, toilet, floors…
ummMemberCuz I was trying to think of a name, and I was like ummm, what should I do… JK it’s my initials… okay initials of someone I know! (and thats the truth!)
ummMemberGrandmaster: on your profile it says you are a member since March 6, 2011, 3 weeks ago! So let’s figure out who you were 2 years ago…. hmmm… Itzik_S? notpashut? Lakewood Bubbee?…
ummMemberWhy are no posts getting through for over a half hour and suddenly a new topic by moderator is allowed through?? If you’re there can you please let posts though, I’m bored!!! Gotta have fair-play!
ummMemberZachKessin: I would love an idea like that if you say it works, but what happens if the “food” envelope is finished before the month is over??? I keep trying different things to limit spending and only be spending with a cheshbon… but nothing lasts more than two weeks! I tried taking out a certain amount of money a week, I tried writing everything down and when we hit a certain number then we just have to tighten our belts until the end of the week… (I get paid weekly) but nothing lasts!
ummMemberMechanics are def for us girls more than for you guys, you can give me the most detailed simple instructions but I’ll go to a mechanic any day.
Ever heard that funny clip about mechanic RIPPING a girl off by hundreds!! A phone scam arranged by her dad – i love it!
ummMemberItcheSrulik & DerechHamelech: LOL! Sometimes this coffee room just keeps me laughing!!
ummMemberHey! I just read something fascinating… ALCOHOL LOWERS ONE’S INHIBITIONS!
I can’t post the link because it’s not on the ‘approved list’, but if you don’t beleive me contact me through the mods and I’ll send you the link.
🙂 😉
Daas Yochid, maybe it’s becasue they weren’t approved, or maybe it’s BECAUSE alcohol lowers one’s inhibitions!
ummMembershtick guy: lol
ummMemberWe had a short engagement (9 wks!) which I recommend to EVERYONE! Once you decide to get married, that you’re ready- why wait?
My husband was overseas most of our engagement, which now looking back was great! We spoke, wrote, texted all the time, but we only saw eachother a bit right after engagement and again a few times when he came back before the wedding. Being together alot only makes it harder. I’ve seen it by my friends, they were seeing eachother all the time and #1 getting very desperate (leading to saying things that should not be said…)and #2 they got too comfortable that they were having arguments, disagreements… before they’re wedding!!!
ummMemberDid anyone mention that alchohol lowers a person’s inhibitions?? 😉
Seriously, why is everyone repeating eachother?
ummMemberMBachur: How did you not throw up? My husband tried everything, but every year he throws up, and I can’t take it. I don’t mind when he’s high… but it’s not worth it afterward when he’s throwing up and feeling sick like a dog.
One thing I can’t understand is how they do it again every year. I understand the first time when you don’t realize what’s coming. But after feeling so sick, how can one bare to drink again. (And it’s not like he dreads it, he gets excited every year! How do I remind him what it felt like?????
ummMemberI’m also quite a jealous type. But like everyone is saying there’s always more to the picture than you see.
I once saw this so clearly, years ago, when I was a kid in camp, there were a few girls in my grade who I would look at with plain E-N-V-Y. They looked like they had everything, money, beautiful clothes, friends, parents who sent care-packages all the time… and then I learnt at the end of the summer, one didn’t have a father, one’s brother was very sick, and one had major family issues… but even though I learnt this lesson well then, I still sometimes struggle with it, it’s a constant battle.
And it’s funny, because recently I really settled down, married happily BH, love my job, my apartment… have so much to thank Hashem for, so you’d think that this problem would disapear, but as happy as I am, sometimes I’ll see something by someone else (especially if I feel it isn’t fair), and it will pinch! But I am better these days, I think, i hope…
ummMemberGot it! I’m ESTJ, but it wasn’t as thorough as the first test, I wonder how accurate it is! These things always interest me.
ummMemberI just filled out the whole test on mbticomplete.com, and when I come to the end they tell me $59.95, no thanks! Is there anywhere to take this test online FOR FREE! (Yes, I am Jewish!)
