ItcheSrulik: Can you rephrase what you said Chacham Ovadia Yosef did for the Ashkenazi Yeshiva system. You weren’t too clear.

Feif, that’s not fair. If you say you’re “not a fan of Avi Weiss” you can’t expect others to give more respect to the rabbonim you want than you give to rabbonim like harav Avi Weiss shlita.

Haleivi: In this case there was no real husband and yet they were ready to beat the husband without ever having even attempted to ask him for his side. They just made a kangaroo court (by the same people who took her gelt) to say its okay to beat him.

it doesnt bother you that 12 jews, who would otherwise have not been killed, were murdered as a direct result of goldstein’s action?

its kind of like that jew in paris who killed a german diplomat in 1938 triggering kristallnacht and the murder of 91 jews. was kristallnacht justified? of course not. but what was accomplished by killing a diplomat? nothing. and that jew bears a heavy responsibility nonetheless.

what was accomplished by goldstein other than 12 jews losing their lives as a result.

if i recall correctly, my teachers taught that rashi by korach says one should avoid bad neighbors and friends (and have good neighbors and friends), due to the powerful effect they will have on you, with rashi using shevet reuven as an example since they lived near k’has, dasan and aviram they became deeply involved in korach’s rebellion. on the other hand, shevet yehuda and yissaschar and zevulun became great torah scholars since they encamped with moshe rabbeinu.

i dunno. i was taught that being friends (not just friendly) with people who violate the torah is a no-no. then again i was also taught not to be friends with gentiles. that was even harder since i had some long-time friends i broke up with.

miritchka, omg. you’re such an inspiration! i was at my cousin recently and she said she tried on her entire wardrobe while sitting down to see if any roll up above her knee. she also got rid of any that did. personally i think its best to try it out sitting down before you buy it…
