don’t know about Mexico, but other places are available where you can basically be isolated, so yeah. we went to st. thomas island resort few yrs back and had our little villa on a spot we called our own private beach. was fabulous! shlepping food is a ….well, shlep but chabad is there, as well as large supermarkets with e/t.
tzaddiqMemberarwsf – did u read the title??
tzaddiqMemberso true, zahavasdad, so true.
however i used a computer recently without a filter and ads jumped out at me that otherwise wouldn’t have if it had a filter. the point is if one needs the services of a computer, you are less likely to see things you shouldn’t if it had a filter.
I have ‘jnet’ filter, btw, and very satisfied.

you said it first. this is just the beginning, who knows what this will spiral into. i hope it stops right here. i hope.
tzaddiqMemberi will celebrate this year in florida with my siblings and their kids. should be fun fun fun!
i agree with WIY and Raphael, but you can’t stop others from getting excited even over the small things from Yom Tov.
???? ???? ????? ??? ?????
the fact is that around my house the excitment about everything to do with chanukah – even mom’s special donuts – is nothing short of contagious, lol. but you definitly are correct, that the ikkar is praising the rbs”o.
tzaddiqMemberterrific!
ever wonder how people stare at fire. it can be the neiros chanuka, a fire place, a bon fire, but for some reason we’re attracted to it, and can stare at it for hours. i know i do.
December 19, 2011 6:37 pm at 6:37 pm in reply to: Please don't make this mistake on Chanuka! #836036tzaddiqMemberaries2756, true, but usually chanuka time is when all these tragedies strike. especially because kids get to light. also older people have a hard time lighting with oil, especially when they’re alone with no one to assist them.
tzaddiqMemberuse candles that r in the shape of numbers (really made for birthdays, but who says? lol).
or make one from legos, or kliks like my neice made last year. hey, it worked!
tzaddiqMemberA man was driving along a freeway when he noticed a chicken running alongside his car. He was amazed to see the chicken keeping up with him, as he was doing 50 mph. He accelerated to 60, and the chicken stayed right next to him. He sped up to 75 mph, and the chicken passed him. The man noticed that the chicken had three legs. So he followed the chicken down a road and ended up at a farm. He got out of his car and saw that all the chickens had three legs. He asked the farmer, “What’s up with these chickens?” The farmer said “Well, everybody likes chicken legs, so I bred a three-legged bird. I’m going to be a millionaire.” The man asked him how they tasted. The farmer said, “Don’t know, haven’t caught one yet.”
tzaddiqMemberi was going through the drive through at a fast food place and the girl said, “sorry about the wait.”
I replied, “nah, it looks great on you.”

tzaddiqMemberRaphael Kaufman:
who’s confusing the two?? we’re getting excited for chanuka and every little thing about it – from the neiros to dreidel to latkehs. the chanuka spirit is all over the place at this time of year too, you just have to put on your “jewish glasses” to “see” the spirit around us. having said that, i hope i am too on the level to declare ‘mi l’hashem elai’.
tzaddiqMemberken zayn….?, i know sometimes even a tzaddiq can’t resist a good shtick. and that ‘shin’ dreidel is right up my alley…just have to think how i make someone use it.
i remember when i was a bochur in yeshiva i decided to eat a latkeh every night and add one each night (like the neiros) so that on the 8th night i would eat 8 latkehs. the guys made fun of me and we all laughed, but i had the last laugh. i told them i experienced a true chanuka miracle. those latkehs burned for eight days stright.?
sufficed to say, i stick to the dreidels these days.
tzaddiqMemberi’m not much of a music guy, but i can blow the shofar. any room for a shofar blower….?
tzaddiqMemberlast year, by my family chanuka party, i used a dreidel i bought online , with a gimmel on all 4 sides, LOL, it took about 5-6 minutes, until my sister ‘chapped’ my trick.
tzaddiqMemberwelcome back baalhabooze. one of my favorite posters. i am so glad to hear that it ended well with ypur son and am glad u r back.
l’chaim, baalhabooze.
tzaddiqMembermommamia22: +1
and, if I may add, what world do you people live in? in my city (which I will not name here) singers are entertainers. they’re not our rav and certainly not a rolemodel!? yes we all enjoy what they do but does that mean we should learn from them, look up to them? I don’t know, is that how you people view singers where you live?
mattisyahu is struggling with yiddishkeit, and instead of some of us frum jews being SAD and krechtzing, you condemn and curse??
you don’t have to like his music, style or standard of yiddishkeit, but he is still our brother.
tzaddiqMemberhope u return soon BaalHabooze

tzaddiqMemberI have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
tzaddiqMemberHoly Jothar, you found the cure! YOU FOUND THE CUUUURE!!!!
sounds like a good line from a movie, lol! i don’t post too often, but i am addicted to the coffee room. maybe this will come in handy one day.
tzaddiqMemberWoW! nice Feivel, thanks for sharing!
care to go through ALL the alef-beis letters. it would be extremely interesting.
tzaddiqMemberthank G-d for ties. ’nuff said.
tzaddiqMemberHeard somewhere in Miami Beach, Florida:
Dan: “So Sam, what did you get for Chanuka?”
Sam: “Oh see that brand new red Ferrari outside?”
Dan: “OOOOH WOW!!!”
Sam:”Yea, I got the same exact color tie!”
tzaddiqMemberthank you Goq for the warm welcome. nice to be here, nice people in this CR. been here about 2 weeks, and i think i’m already addicted! i hope to get to know you all better in the near future.
i brought as many sandwiches for you Goq as there is coffee in this “coffee room”, so there you are 😉 b’tayavon!
tzaddiqMemberI am a fairly new member
About 1-2 weeks, if I correctly remember.
My screen name is tzaddiq with a “q”
My identity as a Godol HaDor is long overdue
I hope I get more recognition in December ?
tzaddiqMemberYo Mama cooks so bad, the flies pitched in to fix the screen door.
I once had a job crushing coke and sprite cans.
It was soda pressing
The preacher said, “Anyone with ‘special needs’ who wants to be prayed over, please come forward to the front by the altar.”
With that, Leroy got in line, and when it was his turn, the preacher asked, “Leroy, what do you want me to pray about for you?”
Leroy replied, “Preacher, I need you to pray for help with my hearing.” The preacher put one finger of one hand in Leroy’s ear, placed his other hand on top of Leroy’s head, and then prayed and prayed and prayed. After 3 minutes of praying for Leroy, the whole congregation joined in with great enthusiasm.
Then the preacher removed his hands, stood back and asked, “Leroy, how is your hearing now?”
Leroy answered, “I don’t know. It ain’t ’till next week.”

tzaddiqMemberif you had 10 min. to speak with any Biblical figure in private, who would it be and what would you ask/discuss?
What is your most favorite meal?
What would be a valuable and important message one should give their children before they die?
Name 5 things that walks or talks that aren’t alive.
tzaddiqMemberlol…apushatayid, I was going to say something along that line, but you beat me to it.
does anybody know how many (jewish) people live in Lakewood? I think there are about 6000 that are affiliated with the yeshiva, but what is the (approx.) jewish population there nowadays?
tzaddiqMemberlaughed through the whole post, LOL, thanks tryinghard. That’s quite an interesting perspective of our anscestry!
tzaddiqMemberMost people living in Lakewood are there for job opportunities. (Is that fair to say?)Finding a job where I come from is very difficult. Brooklyn has its own problems, like cost of houses are insane over there, for example! Living in other communities is not unrealistic, but much harder to find a good job. And when I say ‘good job’ I mean GREAT JOB, because we know that in order to to raise a family and have some left over cash after that, requires a GREAT job. A good job won’t cut it.
I like your points that you make BH. Interesting. Not so sure about the last one though. Lakewooders wear white shirts even if they are working not because they bedavka don’t want a colored shirt, but that’s the ‘fashion’ here. It’s easier for everyone. (Like everyone in the future is supposed to wear that V-neck futuristic suit, just this one is more yeshivish.lol.)
tzaddiqMemberSo why do people in Lakewood who work wear white shirts?
tzaddiqMembermommamia22 – I assure you, it was! But my neighbour is an ehriche yid whom i have great respect and admiration. I knew better than to exclaim my disgust, and gave him the benefit of the doubt.
tzaddiqMemberI have visited wonderful kehillos world wide and have my most favorite ones that I would like to share.
-There is no doubt any city in E”Y is special and holy, ranking #1 on my list.
-I spent a beautiful week in Venice, and fell in love with it.
-My cross country excursion 2 summers ago brought me to cities such as Atlanta, and Dallas which I will never forget.
-But my all time favorite city is Montreal, which has a warm heimish kehilla with a touch of European flavor that made up one of my best Shabbosim, and ranks as my top best cities.
