tzaddiqMemberbaalhabooze, you got anymore nice ones?
tzaddiqMemberi read somewhere on this site (i can’t remember which thread) about a rumour that elvis presley was jewish. can someone confirm that pls? is it true?
tzaddiqMemberno i don’t fold my pizza. i cringe whenever i spot someone folding their slice, or using a fork & knife for pizza.
tzaddiqMember????? ?????? ????

tzaddiqMember“…but the relief of letting go, the joy in knowing i’m in charge of my life, i will not allow myself to be controlled by my yeitzer horo anymore, that’s….that’s the greatest feeling. so…liberating.
people should know that. they should know of this happiness and serenity of doing teshuvah. because that’s the feeling after having done teshuva.
happiness.”

tzaddiqMembergreat thread, eh?
i live happily and proudly in montreal, but my heart is in E”Y, where i lived the first year of my marriage.
rebdoniel- not for nothing montreal-style bagels are famous and emulated in dozens of other cities.
taxes are a killer, health care is free, blah blah blah , like every other city, there are pros and cons. business is very tough here and most are having a very hard time, but we’re surviving. the weather is not as cold as it used to be, with a lot less snow, and we enjoy hot summers too. canada’s main business center undoubtedly is in toronto. all in all i dont know if its the best country but it definitely is way up there with the top 5.
tzaddiqMemberi before e….
except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour

tzaddiqMemberthere IS a shidduch crisis in that there are not enough shadchanim!
’nuff said.
tzaddiqMemberfor us out-of-towners (OOT’s), the shidduch crisis is doubly difficult and devastating for girls. the girls have no dates- that is ZERO (0), and shadchonim are busy with NY girls, NJ girls and wealthy girl families. boys aren’t interested in dating OOT girls if they can just date one in Lakewood or NY where they are learning. why travel, why the expense, if they have girls right in their backyards to date!?
and that’s the trouble.
almost all the boys are condensed into one area of the world (NY, NJ) and it is soooo difficult for OOT parents to get information on these prospective shidduchim. even boys originally from OOT change over the years, and is difficult to get information on their current status from old neighbours and friends.
perhaps a solution could be:
if an OOT shadchan(from each city) HAS A CONTACT (in LKWD or NY), from whom he can get information about boys, so that he can rehd them to OOT girls. it is getting too difficult and too frustrating waiting and waiting in order to get some information DIRECTLY from these LKWD and NY shadchonim.
any thoughts from other OOT parents/girls?
tzaddiqMemberok….i’ll ask….
what in heaven’s name is pig latin??

tzaddiqMemberwhile not an isle fan, i hope they beat pitts. there’s no question this edition of the penguins are great, and are a strong, legitimate SC contender. but the way the isles have been playing this year, could see them sneaking up and surprise them with an upset win. this tavares guy is absolutely superstar material, and carried his team this far. won’t be easy going up against crosby, malkin, iggy & co.
tzaddiqMemberkingdavid – lol! that reminds me of my 4 yr old nephew, who was showing me his pesach arts ‘n crafts, i asked him, “wow, who made all these froggies in mitzrayim?” he said, “morah raizy did, but i coloured it in!”
tzaddiqMemberi asked my 10 year old daughter where she went with her friends this past shabbos afternoon. she said she went to visit the elderly people in the old age home in our neighbourhood, and made the old people so happy
April 25, 2013 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm in reply to: Letter circulated in Brooklyn about Motzei Shabbos hangouts #950720tzaddiqMemberrationalfrummie- yes they are feeding teens, and making $ but at the same time they are opening room for hangouts- is THAT fair??
a good idea, perhaps, is they should only do home deliveries, to save their parnassa
tzaddiqMember1)electric fences are very useful in these kinds of situations
2)i concur with the suggestion of borrowing a dog for one day and give her a real good scare
3) and finally, a good ol fashioned super-soaker always does the trick
tzaddiqMemberi…can’t..stop….playing…..ANGRY BIRDS….help!
tzaddiqMemberwhat on earth is yezter??
tzaddiqMemberQ. how many cr posters does it take to change a light bulb?
A. there’s a thread on that, please see
tzaddiqMember13 is the first of seven ‘teen years’ of one’s life
the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution outlaws slavery and involuntary servitude.
floor #13 does not appear in many building elevators because #13 is believed by many superstitious (or as my rebbi would say, ‘stupidstitious’) people consider that number to be unlucky.
13 is XIII in roman numericals
tzaddiqMemberi like banana cake with nuts in it, or chocolate chips. can those be added (or do you commend adding any) to this recipe?
tzaddiqMemberthey say golems post here in the CR quite frequently.
just another reason why you should stay off the ‘net
tzaddiqMemberyou know when you glance around the shul during shabbos mincha, during shemona esrei, and you see this yeshiva bochur, half asleep, davening shemona esrei by heart when all of a sudden he pounds his heart twice….lol!!

tzaddiqMemberwow! that was a real nice vort, baalhabooze
tzaddiqMemberhere in montreal my rav speaks on an inyan for about 25 min, and 20 min on halachos and preperations for paysach, topped off by a nice dvar torah
tzaddiqMemberyou spelled “night” incorrectly. it’s night, not knight. just saying. 😉
tzaddiqMemberuh, people read “YWN Coffee Room Nightly D’Var Torah”.
tzaddiqMemberyou really get a kick out of yourself, eh, popa?
careful though, tincan mountain is notoriously known for their packs of wolves. many casualties each year, so keep your eyes open. oh, and enjoy your vacation 🙂
tzaddiqMemberthis really belongs in “YWN Coffee Room Nightly D’Var Torah” thread, and no need to start a new seperate thread for each dvar torah. having said that it was very nice vort. thank u for sharing.
tzaddiqMembernothing like a good juicy piece of shmaltz herring on an ayur kichal after a nice long rosh chodesh davening.
btw, reminder: no more matzos till the pesach seder
tzaddiqMembercan a Mod please give me this subtitle:
“the wisest, nicest, niftiest, and of course, the humblest tzaddiq with a “q”, ever.”
tzaddiqMemberdavid bar-magen
+10
those were hilarious!
tzaddiqMemberok i will try to explain my question better. if someone can be swayed to do an avaira easily (if put in the wrong place at the wrong time), how can he be considered anything but a rasha? He is not a strong person spiritually AT ALL and he will readily bend to do avairos whenever the chance presents itself. just since he is living among frum jewish neighbours and friends and he will be looked down upon if he attempts to do it, and is only holding himself back because he would be embarassed by them. but be’etzem he would do the avaira if noone is around.
bekitzur, is a person a rasha if he definitely WOULD do terrible avairos (like eating non-kosher, being mechalel shabbos, or the like), if the only thing that’s holding himself back is his seviva, or the watchful eyes of his family etc.?
tzaddiqMemberuh…..typewriter??
what is a typewriter?

tzaddiqMember“Why is the mitzva to make a Kiyor for the Mishkan in this week’s parsha, and not in parshas Teruma together with all the other Keilim?”
if you look at the first shtikel of meshech chochma on parshas ki sisa, although he doesn’t ask yur kashah, he neverthless answers it beautifully.
[washing the hands and feet aren’t a din in the kiyor per se, but in the makom (i.e. between the mizbayach and ohel moed.) ???? ??]
tzaddiqMembersqueak – i have a feeling his hunches are best kept stored up inside. somethings are better not said than said.
just a hunch.
but seriously, i don’t think there was any reason at all this issue wasn’t brought up in a thread. it was more the sense of shock and pain and trauma that numbed our yiddishe minds and souls. we were not ignoring the issue, we were dumbfounded and overwhelmed with grief. ther was nothing to say but cry.
may the families of this beautiful couple be comforted and should know of no more tzar.
tzaddiqMemberseen on the subway in nyc

tzaddiqMemberyou can peek in the dvar tora section in the cr.
here’s one:
tzaddiqMember“Let’s say a Jew, who has no knowledge of any Torah, asks to learn with you. What do you learn first? Where do you start?”
i beleive this was the whole machlokes to some degree before aish hatorah and ohr sameach broke off from each other. each one sanctions different approaches to introducing torah to someone for the first time.
tzaddiqMemberwhat does the title have to do with the question?
tzaddiqMembersam4321 – that’s very nice for the jews at the time. but why establish it as a fast day today – we’re not going to war today!?
tzaddiqMemberi can’t wait for purim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
