December 20, 2010 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm in reply to: Suggestions for a bread machines that can hold 5 lbs of flour, for challah bakin #719858Trying to be helpfulMemberA bread machine is an appliance into which you put all ingredients, turn some knobs, wait a few hours and voila you have a loaf of bread. The machines deiyezooger mentioned are kneader/mixers which produce a dough which still has to rise, be shaped, and put into the oven.
LionessMom if you are interested in the 5 lb capacity machine because you want to take Chala with a Bracha, there is a way to accomplish that. I will leave the details to the CR “Rabbonim Wannabes”.

Submitted by Reb Dov Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: Is it a siman ra (according to R’ Yehudah Hachassid) to hit a deer. i ran into 2 over last 3 months. if so, what action if any should be taken?
Answer: I’m not familiar with any mention of this issue in the writings of R’ Yehuda HaChosid. However it certainly is a sign that you should drive carefully. Also, a collision with a dear is very dangerous and you should bench gomel.

The naming of a child should not bring any type of machlokes into the family because it is a danger to the child.(10)
Although according to the basic premise of the law, there is no
concern with discussing the name beforehand, nonetheless, the custom is that one should not discuss the name with family members before the name is actually given.(11)

Halacha – Non-kosher microwave oven
Submitted by Eli Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: There is a non-kosher microwave at my place of work. Sometimes there is even residue of non-kosher food in it. Is there a way for me to heat-up food in it? I heard something about double-wrapping but I am unclear on the issue.
Answer: Technically speaking double wrapping you food would work, but it is often not a practical solution. A microwave heats the water molecules and causes more steam than a conventional oven. This rising steam causes pressure that is likely to rupture the seal and force or melt open the wrapping, which would render your lunch forbidden. Therefore I would not recommend its use.
