So according to you, you can denounce a gadol if he was denounced by your gadol. Does that apply to other people or just to you? The same way some members of the Agudah’s Moetzes is viewed as a gadol, Rabbi Tendler is also viewed as a gadol. Furthermore, the same way your gedolim have denounced Rabbi Tendler, there are other gedolim who have denounced your gedolim. So, if it’s OK for you to denounce, shouldn’t it be OK for others? Or is it your opinion that only gedolim denounced by your gedolim can be denounced, but gedolim denounced by other gedolim can’t be denounced?

GAW got it right. Who said that not respecting someone is equal to being mevazeh him? And wasn’t it you who was mevazeh a MO rabbi?

I have my own rav, and I ask him my shailos and as I posted before I did lose a drop of respect for him because he didn’t want to do something because it wasn’t 100% yeshivish, so he will wait for others and then jump aboard. Does that mean I don’t like him or respect him? No, it just means on that one issue I disagree with him.

Furthermore, as GAW mentioned, the Moetzes is a political-rabbinical arm of the Agudah. I didn’t say anything derogatory or insulting about any of the members, I just said I don’t really hold of them, and just so you know, from what I can see of the real world, 99% of yeshivish people don’t hold from the Agudah-Moetzes (they may hold of individuals on the Moetzes).

Finally, just to reiterate, if you want others to respect your gedolim, then you should pay the same respect to their gedolim.

Concentration camps? You just made some posters here ecstatic to find something else to attack Zionism with.

Sheesh, and they said that people aren’t that gullible.

Nobody is telling them how much to learn. All they are saying is that the money will stop.

    1) accepted by whom? Avi Shafran?

    2) Again, where does it say that I must have respect for everyone who some people on YWN call their leaders?

This is the B&W thinking again, that if I don’t have respect for them, I must hate them or something.

What if I don’t think he’s a talmid chacham? Why do I need to show respect for someone I don’t respect at all?

To the posters being moche my post:

    Why?

Since when do I have to respect the Agudah’s Moetzes? None of the members are my rabbanim. Furthermore, even if one of them were my rav, who said I can’t say that his opinion will make me think less of him?

One of my previous rabbanim did/didn’t do something and while I still respect him and would ask him shailos if necessary, I did lose a drop of respect because of his in/action. It’s not 100% black and white. And that, BTW, is a big problem in the charedi world. They are all black and white, and so they see this as 100% black and white against the charedim.

Lastly, if the charedim are going to sit and learn all day and the dati are going to go to the army, what about a dati fellow who wants to sit and learn all day? Why do the charedim not allow him to sit all day?

I won’t believe an anonymous YWN poster with a list of names. I’ll wait until I see it for myself, but if true, there is one Rabbi on that list who I somewhat respect and my respect would go down a bunch.

It’s a shame how people can be convinced to listen to all the Chicken Littles.

99.99999999% of gedolim/rabbanim/etc… all hold the Satmar Rebbe was 100% wrong. It is unfortunately becoming cool in some circles to actually state that the SR’s shittah is actually the majority opinion, when clearly it is not so.

Who wants to cripple the Yeshiva world?

I heard that the charedim want all secular and dati folk to wear a black hat AND a sweater all day, every day. It’s hidden in one of the budget bills.

If you google “benjamin franklin mussar” you can see some interesting articles about how it made its way into R’ Salanter’s mussar sefer Cheshbon Hanefesh.

It originally was published anonymously by a maskil, and then it was put into Cheshbon Hanefesh.

What is interesting is that Franklin wrote that the ideas should be incorporated by religious writers for their own religious spiritual accounting.

It’s from the previous Rosh Yeshiva.

As in most things, people from the prior generation were not as kannoisdikke as this generation.

BTW, just to defend my man Ben Franklin:

He was not an old man learning new tricks. He was into diplomacy by the mid 1700’s, he was the peacemaker between the two main factions in the PA Assembly, and he was the Colonies’ representative to England for quite some time.

Interesting fact, if you learn R’ Yisrael Salanter, he has a sefer where he discusses how to improve yourself one middah at a time. That was taken from a psychology book who took it from Benjamin Franklin.

BTW, the Agudah really dropped the ball on this one. I spoke with R’ Weinberger and he admitted that had they gotten involved years ago, when it was just one “renegade” chassidishe mohel, then nothing would have happened, but their Moetzes did not want to do anything.

He also admitted that there is zero to no chance of winning the lawsuit.

BTW, if you are against lies and glossing-over, will you admit that many gedolim in Europe screwed up royally and are directly responsible (since people listened to them 100%) for many, many deaths?

All one has to do is ride a taxi with a secular driver and see how many times he mentions Hashem.

Even the “100%” seculars know that they are there because of Hashem and His miracles.

    Right, I was asking acers.

As for melacha on Shabbos, not only is most hospital melacha not a d’oraisa, it’s most likely not even a d’rabbanon, but rather minhag/chumrah.

Dov Zakheim was a Deputy Undersecretary of Defense, that’s pretty high up there.

    Don’t forget Lieberman, and others.

There are probably more issues working around Shabbos in the private sector than in the government sector.

Acers, so how does Hatzolah treat non-Jews on Shabbos????

Sorry to butt in, with what might read as a callous comment, but I keep reading the same thing in many of your posts.

It looks like not only is your son a problem, but your husband as well. He’s constantly worries about hashkafah, but your son is doing much worse than wearing a srugie. Somebody needs to sit down and speak with him.

ah talmid, Israel gives an additional stipend to kollel families, on top of regular welfare payments.

And while Israel’s payments might be small, maybe if you demand from the US a high enough amount, they’d give it. Make the demands, start protesting in the street that you want to sit and learn all day.

If it’s a fundamental part of charedi society to sit and learn all day and not work, why is it only in Israel?

Are you acknowledging that Israel is indeed a Jewish state and therefore you are able to make extreme demands?

If not, why not start making demands of the US government to support (more so than now) the entire Lakewood community so that the women don’t have to work and they can stay home with the kids?
